“Whoosh!”

A glint of cold light suddenly pierced out from the side of the Zombie Puppet, piercing right through that hideous mouth. Amidst a series of frantic “hissing” sounds, the cold light swiftly withdrew and flung the gestation pod, hitting a few more nearby.

“Hurry up and go.”

A familiar voice sounded from behind, making Ling Mo freeze in surprise as he quickly turned around.

“Hurry, hurry!” urged the person anxiously.

“Senior Sister?!”

“It’s really you, Ling Mo! I was worried I’d mistaken you! But you can talk, and you feel like Ling Mo, so it should be right, hehe… though it’s kind of weird. I’d prefer to see you in person…” Li Yalin said, patting her chest with a smile.

“I don’t even know where to start asking…”

“Ah! There’s no time!”

This was the third time Li Yalin urged him, and just as she finished speaking, a dull sound rumbled up from below.

“What’s that noise?” Ling Mo asked, widening his eyes toward the staircase behind him.

“It’s a long story… Actually, I should be asking you! Why are you here? Where are Xia Na and Ye Lian?” Ling Mo questioned.

Li Yalin looked up at the Ceiling, thought for a moment, and said, “That’s a long story too… Ye Lian should still be outside, and Xia Na ran into a really deep room… let me think. I can remember what it’s called.”

“Don’t throw such common knowledge into the useless folder!” Ling Mo said, feeling a headache coming on. “Let me handle this. First, tell me what’s up with the thing chasing you?”

Ling Mo couldn’t help but feel fortunate; he hadn’t expected this decision to be beneficial in two ways. Otherwise, being constantly pursued by those scissorhands would have left him with nothing else to do but run for his life.

“What you’re looking for isn’t on this floor, either,” Ling Mo said to Xiao Yue Er, looking down.

This time, he only received a cold snort in response, but he didn’t mind and started climbing the stairs to the next floor.

The stairway to the second floor had more bloodstains, and there were bloody handprints on the walls left during a struggle. Most surprising to Ling Mo was that the railing still had blood-soaked ropes tied to it, and below was a large, dried bloodstain. But Xiao Yue Er was different; she desperately wanted to stay away from that spot. Unfortunately, Ling Mo’s restraining method didn’t give her that choice… As Xiao Yue Er’s breathing gradually grew heavier, Ling Mo, with her in tow, edged closer to the source of the glow step by step.

The light was coming from several items resembling insulated boxes. Ling Mo didn’t see any wires around but did notice a few things that looked like portable power banks. He frowned and studied these modern technological items for a moment before shifting his gaze to the inside of the insulated boxes.

Zombies using machines… the very thought was terrifying. So when Ling Mo peered inside, he was mentally prepared…
