Murphy slept for a long time.

It had been 37 hours since he awoke from a slumber that shouldn’t belong to vampires. The fatigue bestowed upon him from initiating Sharon had dissipated significantly, and his spirit became vibrant again, but the weakness from his body made him feel as if he had fallen severely ill.

The duration of 【Anemic Weakness】 on his character interface was depressingly long.

But the good news was, when he opened his eyes on the bed that carried Tris’s fragrance, the note that entered his sight dispelled all factors that displeased him.

【Transia region territory information updated! Countess of Seicob territory has been incorporated into the rule, Transia area inclusion progress 【3/3】, hidden achievement ‘King of Transia’ obtained!

Achievement reward: Daily game time limit for testers +2 hours.

Achievement reward feature ‘Guild System’ unlocked!

Achievement reward feature ‘Stronghold Construction’ unlocked!

Term explanation – Stronghold:

Administrator Alpha can delegate the management rights of certain areas under his territory to specific guilds, with testers responsible for construction, operation, and management affairs.

Once this authority is delegated, it will be considered as stronghold generation and cannot be revoked before the stronghold is destroyed.

Each stronghold can be viewed as a save point, allowing testers to visit the stronghold’s core building to bind a new respawn location.

Each stronghold will have the same upgrade mode and manpower feedback rules as the main city territory. The growth mode of strongholds can be divided according to population, scale, and purpose:

Stronghold – Village/Military Camp/Marketplace – Town/Fortress/Trading Post – City/Defense Zone/Commercial Hub.

Current available stronghold delegation count: 【3/3】.

Current number of player guilds meeting requirements: 0. Please urge testers to register and establish formal guilds at the Transia Administrative Office as soon as possible.】

“Another reward feature? So I really need to find a way to grind achievements, right? The most annoying thing is that basically all achievement rewards for features are hidden achievements, you can’t find them in the list at all.”

Murphy rubbed his head as he got up from his bed, complaining:

“And are these feature rewards random? Why can’t they come in an orderly fashion?”

With such grumbles, Murphy opened his territory management interface while getting up to wash. The territory interface had been completely renewed:

“It seems that after obtaining this territory, it’s not possible to pinpoint the population accurately. We need to conduct a ‘census’ to roughly estimate the number of subjects I currently have.

However, according to little Sharon, there are at least 60,000 mountain folk forming loose settlements in the Ancestral Forest. If we could gain their allegiance, then half of the 2,000 player quota in my hands would be completed in one go.

This feeling is truly satisfying. Once the Blood Servant prisoners promised to be returned by the two countries arrive, the total number of players will exceed 1,000!

Under the current situation in Transia, they can finally grow into a force that can be relied upon as they wish.”

Murphy picked up a towel and wiped his face.

Although his body was weak at the moment, his spirit became increasingly excited.

Since unlocking the administrator system, it was the first time he had escaped the distress of “manpower shortage,” but another “happy trouble” came along with it – the “impatient party” on the forum seemed a bit insufficient in the face of a thousand-person gap.

Currently, he had two solutions.

First, lower the player Novice threshold, but this would reduce player quality, so it was immediately ruled out. Murphy chose quality over quantity.

Second, perhaps he should do some “promotion”?

“Wait, rather than casting a wide net, why not focus on key fishing?”

Another good idea quickly surfaced in Murphy’s mind. He narrowed his eyes and thought for a moment. Just as he was about to pick up the core bead to enter the forum and “micromanage” as an administrator, he suddenly heard a knock on the door.

He turned his head to see Lady Adele pushing open the door, saying to him:

“Master, Grand Duchess Shani has suddenly visited. She brings new orders from the Wolf Queen and says she has a surprise for you.”

“A surprise?”

Murphy shrugged.

He could roughly guess what the so-called “surprise” was.

But Shani’s timing was really impeccable. As the vampire lord tidied his clothes and demeanor, he instructed Adele:

“Go to the administrative office for me, remind Miriam that she can release the previously discussed guild management regulations, and ask Miriam and Natalie to consider setting up a small organization under the Adventurer’s Guild specifically for managing guilds.

At this stage, we only need to register my warriors. We’ll consider whether to open up restrictions and allow subjects to join later.”

“Yes, master.”

Adele recorded the instructions and turned to leave. A few minutes later, Murphy came to Tris’s room next door. As he pushed open the door, he saw two charming vampire beauties sitting at the table, holding red tea and engaging in “business flattery.”

Tris praised Shani for becoming increasingly gentle and graceful, while Shani responded by saying Tris was becoming more radiant and beautiful.

You can’t say that the flattery between the two grand duchesses was all superficial talk, after all, both of them indeed belonged to the “one in a million” celestial beauty category.

But the veiled barbs in their mutual praise made Murphy’s scalp tingle. They were always at odds, like two fighting beasts representing Blood Vulture and Thorn, always trying to determine a winner in any situation.

“You’re injured?”

After seeing Murphy enter leaning on a cane, Shani put down her teacup and said in surprise:

“Why has your aura become so weak? It’s as if you’ve been drained of vital blood by another vampire witch.”

As she spoke, her eyes kept glancing towards Tris. This “lewd insinuation” immediately made Tris’s expression turn ugly.

Damn it!

Why does the malice from the world always assume that she and little Murphy have something going on? They’re still just in a pure man-woman relationship, okay?

This annoying gossip culture is really enough!

“It’s just some minor issues, no need for your concern.”

Murphy responded very properly.

The experience of Tris getting jealous and exploding due to his previous overly intimate interaction with Shani was still fresh in his memory, causing Murphy to face the visiting Thorn Grand Duchess with a “strictly business” attitude this time.

This made Tris very satisfied.

“I heard you brought orders from Her Majesty the Wolf Queen?”

Murphy didn’t even waste time on small talk. He didn’t want to damage his “quite progressive” relationship with Tris recently, so he asked directly:

“Please forgive my impatience, Grand Duchess Shani, but given the situation I’m currently facing, I’m really eager to know the attitude from North Wind Castle.”

“Heh, what a practical person.

The last time we met, you were still flirting by calling me ‘Madam Shani’, but this time you turn your face and don’t recognize me, directly calling me ‘Grand Duchess Shani’?”

Murphy didn’t want to flirt to avoid making Tris upset again, but unfortunately, Grand Duchess Shani, who was supposed to cooperate with his performance, was also a midnight prankster.

This damn northern woman was clearly stirring up trouble, mentioning the exact thing she shouldn’t.

A seemingly resentful sentence made Murphy’s mouth twitch, and also made Tris, who was holding a teacup, narrow her eyes like daggers stabbing into Murphy.

“I still praise your beauty endlessly, but alas, I’ve realized that my previous conversation was indecorous. I must pay due respect to my senior, Your Grace.”

Murphy coughed and replied with a straight face.

Grand Duchess Shani snorted, feeling it was no fun anymore and stopped playing this “little game,” but the light appearing in her gray-blue eyes showed that she didn’t intend to let Murphy off so easily.

If she could use this little guy to annoy the detestable Tris to death, how could Shani so easily throw away such a lovely “toy” that only comes along once in a century?

Moreover, Murphy’s face was truly handsome, coupled with his excellent demeanor, conversations with such a man would never bore a noble lady.

“Well, because you brilliantly completed our previous bet, taking less than 30 days to deal with the rampant gnoll banditry in the Transia region, I must acknowledge your ability and your control over this territory.”

Shani said very seriously:

“Actually, I arrived at Fort Crimea two days ago and almost witnessed the entire battle at Crimson Citadel and Anderma Hills.

I have to say, that gnoll warlord really became a stepping stone for your rise.

This is an undeniable achievement, allowing me to contentedly entrust you with the Wolf Queen’s appointment.

From today onwards, you are the officially recognized Governor of Transia by the Kingdom of Nordtov. You will enjoy the right to rule over this land, and my descendant Andrei will serve as a dual ambassador for the Thorn Clan and the Kingdom of Nordtov, residing here permanently as the communication hub between you, the Wolf Queen, and myself.”

“I’m truly honored. Please forgive me for not being able to personally go to North Wind Castle to thank Her Majesty the Wolf Queen.”

Murphy smiled and replied quite hypocritically.

Grand Duchess Shani waved her hand. She had more than just this to say. After sipping some red tea, this gentle vampire lady played with her braid and continued to say to Murphy:

“Because your rule has been recognized, the Kingdom of Nordtov’s ‘Black Disaster aid’ for the Transia region will also be officially put on the agenda.

The Winter Wolf General Baldwin at Fort Crimea has already received orders. We will assist your army in establishing a line of defense in the area north of Foul Swamp.

That will become the forefront of Transia’s confrontation with the Black Disaster. With your military acumen, you should understand why we are placing the position there.”

“Of course!”

Murphy nodded and said:

“It will connect with Fort Crimea to form a solid position, while also allowing us to concentrate our forces in the complex terrain of the southern hill area. If we can stop the Black Disaster there, it would be a blessing for everyone.

But I don’t know if you’ve considered the negative situations this arrangement might bring?

For example, once the vanguard of the Black Disaster is blocked at the Foul Swamp line, it’s hard to guarantee that the gnolls won’t split their forces to advance towards the Cato region.”

“That’s something for the Goldflower Kingdom to consider. What does it have to do with us northerners?”

Grand Duchess Shani snorted, saying nonchalantly:

“Or are you saying the Goldflower Kingdom has been so good to you that even you, a Governor of Transia not yet recognized by them, need to consider issues from their standpoint?

Look, Murphy, the Black Disaster is a catastrophe closely related to all forces on the continent. Such a war will incur terrible casualties, which means not only Transia people and Nords have to Bleed, that King Louis can’t expect us to do all the work for him.

Moreover, I think you should know by now who your real friends are!

We’re placing our fortress and defense line in front of Crimson Citadel, which means we’ll fight alongside you, but the Goldflower Kingdom’s Pioneer Army is only focused on reinforcing the fortress group in the East Prussia region

That’s behind your battle line!

This already shows the Goldflower Kingdom’s attitude. They want you to stand in front as cannon fodder to consume the gnolls’ military power. The Cato region is a problem, I admit.

But that’s not a problem we need to consider, don’t you think?”

“Hmm, that makes sense.”

Murphy outwardly agreed with this statement, but what he truly thought couldn’t be discerned from his kind expression.

Shani didn’t waste energy on this either. She put down her teacup, caressing her golden braid that was like the finishing touch on a painting. After a few seconds of silence, she said:

“Your 6,000 prisoners and the additional 1,500 support troops we’re gifting have already set out from various parts of Nordtov. They will soon be delivered to Transia.

This is the Wolf Queen’s sincerity.

But as I mentioned before, due to some prisoners’ non-cooperation leading to casualties, we’ve made up for it with some of the demobilized personnel.

Murphy, I don’t want you to have any opinions about our Thorn Clan, so I’ll be frank.

Those ruffian soldiers stuffed into the prisoner pile by stubborn old generals and sent to Transia to die, as well as the convicts drawn from North Wind Castle’s prisons, will probably be a big headache.”

Before Shani could finish speaking, the core bead in Murphy’s hand suddenly vibrated.

He made an apologetic gesture, picked up the bead and glanced at it. It was an official document from Pioneer Fortress, with Marshal Loren’s signature at the bottom.

But it made Murphy’s expression turn ugly immediately.

This immediately drew the dual attention of Tris and Shani. Without the ladies actively inquiring, Murphy frowned and explained:

“Just now, Marshal Loren officially promised to release 10,000 Blood Servants they had captured and will send people to return them to Transia in the near future.

In addition, that half-dwarf made a grand gesture, very generously reinforcing 50,000 border troops as the Goldflower Kingdom’s ‘military aid’ to Transia, along with accompanying military equipment and supplies.”

“Isn’t this good news? Why do you look so worried?”

Shani immediately caught the crux of the matter. She put on a comforting but hypocritical expression and said:

“The Marshal of the Goldflower Kingdom is really generous. Once you receive these folks, won’t your manpower shortage problem be well solved?”

“But my Transia is not a garbage can for your two countries!”

Murphy said in a low tone:

“Stuffing those ruffian soldiers, rebels, criminals, and thugs that even you can’t stand into the aid troops and sending them here, are you really sincerely trying to help, or did you come specifically to make trouble?

If these people can’t be properly managed, it means that after I’ve just cleaned up the gnoll menace, I’ll have to face a group of human rebel armies causing trouble everywhere.

You guys

You guys are really ‘good teammates,’ aren’t you?”

“Murphy, don’t say such angry words.”

Grand Duchess Shani responded with an unchanged expression:

“With your political wisdom, you should have guessed this outcome long ago. You’ve already sat at this table, and it’s not time for you to flip it yet.

You need people.

We’ve given you enough people.

You need supplies.

We’ve given you supplies that can directly feed the entire Transia.

It’s like being a chef. You already have everything you need. Now it depends on your culinary skills, whether you can use these ingredients to make a meal that will amaze everyone.”

“My Murphy has excellent culinary skills.”

Tris, who had been silent all this time, stood up. She stood next to Murphy, placing her hand on his shoulder, and said:

“You annoying folks just wait and see. My little Murphy will give you a big ‘surprise,’ I’m sure of it.

Well then, Lady Shani, you may leave.

We are busy with affairs, so we won’t see you out.”

“Oh? Is that so?”

Shani raised an eyebrow, her eyes flickering between Murphy and Tris. She smiled meaningfully and said:

“Alright, I won’t disturb your ‘busy affairs’. But before I leave, I still have one last thing to give you, Murphy.”

The Thorn Grand Duchess snapped her fingers, and a servant who had been waiting outside the door immediately brought in a large box.

“This is a gift from Her Majesty the Wolf Queen to you personally. She hopes you will put it to good use.”

Murphy’s eyes lit up. He couldn’t help but step forward to open the box, revealing an exquisite set of armor inside.

“This is…”

“The Blood Vulture Elder Armor.”

Shani explained with a smile:

“It’s said to be a treasure of your clan, lost for many years. Her Majesty found it by chance and decided to gift it to you. Consider it a congratulatory gift for becoming the Governor of Transia.”

Murphy was speechless for a moment. He gently touched the armor, feeling a familiar power flowing through it.

“Thank you. Please convey my deepest gratitude to Her Majesty.”

“I will. Well then, I’ll take my leave.”

Shani stood up gracefully, nodding slightly to Tris before leaving the room.

After Shani left, Murphy sighed deeply and sat down heavily in a chair.

“What’s wrong? Aren’t you happy to receive such a gift?”

Tris asked, sitting down beside him.

“I am happy, but…”

Murphy shook his head, his expression complex:

“This gift, along with the appointment and aid… Tris, don’t you feel that we’re being tied more and more tightly to Nordtov’s chariot?”

“Of course I’ve noticed.”

Tris nodded, her expression serious:

“But right now, we have no choice. We need their support to face the Black Disaster. As for the future… we’ll deal with it when the time comes.”

“You’re right.”

Murphy nodded, then suddenly smiled:

“Actually, I’ve thought of a way to deal with those ‘gifted’ soldiers and prisoners.”

“Oh? What’s your plan?”

Tris asked curiously.

Murphy’s eyes gleamed as he explained:

“We’ll establish a special forces unit, composed entirely of these problematic individuals. We’ll use strict training and harsh discipline to forge them into an elite force. Those who can’t keep up… well, they’ll serve as ‘nutrients’ for our Blood Servants.”

“That’s quite a ruthless plan.”

Tris commented, but her tone was approving:

“But it might just work. These people are already considered expendable by their original countries. If we can mold them into something useful, it would be a great success.”

“Exactly.”

Murphy nodded, his expression determined:

“Transia isn’t a garbage can, but if they insist on dumping their trash here, we’ll refine it into gold.”

“That’s the Murphy I know.”

Tris smiled, leaning closer to Murphy:

“Always turning adversity into opportunity. I believe you’ll surprise everyone with your abilities once again.”

Murphy smiled back, feeling his spirits lift. With Tris’s support and his own determination, he felt ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

As night fell over Transia, Murphy stood at the window, looking out over his domain. The territory that had been ravaged by gnolls was now slowly recovering under his rule. Soon, it would face an even greater threat.

But Murphy was not afraid. He had his plans, his allies, and most importantly, his determination to protect this land and its people.

“Bring it on, Black Disaster,” he murmured to himself. “Transia will be ready for you.”

With that thought, he turned away from the window and began preparing for the busy days ahead. The real test of his leadership was just beginning.
