My SSS-Rank Class Is Blood Monarch!

Chapter 392 - 392- God’s Gate (Part 29)

Arthur’s heart stopped for a moment as all the alarms in his head went off. He never thought the man could react so fast to his attack. He had used Exo-Burst at full capacity so his speed was simply beyond belief.

It was so ridiculous, in fact, that even Arthur found himself surprised that he was able to reach his target in the blink of an eye. Yet, the moment the man turned his head around, all of that was shattered in an instant.

*Swish*

Like a hawk, the man’s hand stretched forward and tried to grab Arthur’s throat. The boy’s eyes widened as he instantly shifted his body and disappeared again, returning to his initial spot.

“Hah… Hah… Hah…” With one of his knees on the ground, he had his hand on his throat, breathing heavily. ‘Fast… Too fast… I swear he could’ve easily crushed my throat if I didn’t escape.’

“Oh my? Why did you suddenly return back there? I expected you to begin the fight.” The man said calmly as he slowly retracted his hand.

“…”

‘Fuck, what the hell is wrong with him? He didn’t even seem like he was using any sort of power. That was… That was just his pure instincts!’ The realization almost made Arthur’s face crumble. It was a split-second interaction, and yet the sheer load of information he gathered from it almost overloaded his brain.

This man was strong… Incredibly strong. Never in Arthur’s life did he feel so weak compared to someone, even though he still didn’t fight him. It was crushing… Suffocating even.

However, he immediately shook all those thoughts out of his head. Standing up, he took a fighting stance.

‘Stronger or not! I need to get the people out of here! There is no way I will just leave without them when I promised Yonathan. I gave that man a promise!’ He cursed.

“Oh? Are you going to fight now? I must say, I’m surprised by how fast you are. Having such mastery over a complex skill like Exo-Burst at such a young age is truly something. I never doubted that you have immense talent.” The man said in a proud tone, as if he were complimenting his own son. However, the clear sarcasm within it made it sound like mockery rather than a true compliment.

“Bastard.” The boy’s expression darkened a lot, his eyes turning sharp. Then, he channeled his mana into his sword, and a wave of ice formed around the blade, cooling down the entire area around Arthur.

Then, in an instant, Arthur launched forward at full speed, leaving behind him a trail of dust. The next second, his sword was mere inches away from the man’s face, thrusting forward like a bullet.

The ice around the blade quickly expanded, forming large spikes in every possible direction. The attack was lethal, and its aim was to kill with one hit. This was the result of continuously using Elemental Oblivion and slowly mastering Exo-Burst, Arthur’s ability to kill from one hit had evolved beyond belief.

His speed, coupled with the element of surprise, was enough to take down any enemy, even if it was several levels above him in strength.

“Oh my. Quite quick.”

*DING*

“Huh??”

For a moment, all Arthur could hear was a ringing sound as he looked up. The tip of his sword had stopped out of nowhere, and he couldn’t move it any further. His arm shook, and so did his sword, and yet they didn’t nudge a single inch.

‘… He stopped it… with a finger…’ With his mouth hanging open, the boy saw the man’s index finger resting on the tip of his blade. All the momentum, the thrust, the ice, and the full power of the Exo-Burst skill, stopped with a mere finger.

Arthur… was simply speechless.

“Ouch. That actually hurt. Can you put that thing away?” As he said that, the man pushed the sword back and the result.

“WOAAH!!!”

*BOOOOM*

Arthur’s vision flipped as he found himself mid-air, flying back several dozen feet. Falling on his back, he bounced a few times before slamming against the wall. All the air was knocked out of his breath.

“Cough! Cough!”

“My deepest apologies. I didn’t mean to push you off that hard! Are you ok?”

“Damn… you!”

‘How… is he human? Just a finger to stop my attack? What kind of power… does he have?’

The only word that could describe it was… crushing. It was simply incomprehensible. A level of strength Arthur had never faced before. It had completely shattered every idea of power he ever had.

Even when he heard about the limitless potential in this world, and even when he knew there were entities out there who could shift the entire world if they wished… He never thought he would meet one so soon… so suddenly.

‘What should I do? What am I supposed to do?!’ Looking left and right, there was truly nothing Arthur could use. It was only him, the man, and this large, empty hall between them.

“So, did you give up? Can you calm down now?”

“…”

“My deepest apologies, but I cannot release your people. However, I must say I do like you quite a bit, boy. So, let me give you an offer.”

“Offer?”

“Yeah, you want your people back, right? I will return them to you.”

“…” Arthur squinted visibly. “But?”

“Hm, I want your help with something.”

“…”

‘Suddenly changing his mind when he could easily eradicate me out of existence in a split second… Yeah, I’m not buying any of that.’ It didn’t even take Arthur a second to realize that this was most likely a trap.

With that level of strength, the man could easily kill him or even restrain him, and Arthur wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. That made him feel like a rat trapped in a small chamber with a cat. He can’t do much; the door behind him was closed, so he can’t escape, and even if it were open, this man was most likely several levels faster than him.

“Why… You could kill me now. Why are you suddenly offering me this?”

“Hm, I am a very reasonable man. Even if we only met a few minutes ago, I can see the potential in you. So, I don’t like that kind of flame to vanish.”

“…”

‘He’s a lunatic. Possibly a psychopath even. No one would live in a place like this and remain sane for any reasonable time.’

Dealing with this person felt like talking to something incomprehensible. The man was so chaotic and unexpected, every word he said felt so unreasonably ridiculous or meaningless, while also feeling very threatening.

“So, what is your answer?”

“…”

‘Do I even have any other choice here? I’m basically dead at this point. He seems completely disinterested in killing me, which is odd. If I can somehow release them, then that’s my goal achieved. I should probably see what he wants to do.’

“Sigh… What is it you want me to do then? As long as I get them back safe and sound.”

“Oh, fear not, you will get them back alive and kicking. Now, follow me.”
