Chapter 577: 576, Lost Ruins

Step by step, she walked slowly forward, and soon a large hall appeared before her. Song Yan Ning looked up and around but saw nothing. What’s going on? Weren’t her parents locked up here?

Elder Mie Yu was also surprised. Even if the Demon King and Demon Queen really had an accident, there should be some clues left behind.

Song Yan Ning’s Divine Sense swept around, and soon a trace of excitement appeared in her eyes, “I know where they went.”

Qin Yushen and Elder Mie Yu looked at Song Yan Ning.

“Follow me. There’s a transmission array here,” said Song Yan Ning as she quickly stepped forward. She didn’t know what kind of world lay on the other side of the transmission array, but whatever it was, it had to be better than this place. Perhaps even the Dragon Clan didn’t know there was a transmission array in the Extreme Ice Northern Region Prison.

Leading Qin Yushen and Elder Mie Yu to the concealed transmission array, Song Yan Ning raised her hand and launched an Array Flag. As the Array Flag fell, the transmission array appeared before them.

“There really is a transmission array,” Elder Mie Yu exclaimed with joy. With the level of Array mastery of the Demon King and Demon Queen, they would surely have found this transmission array. Once they reached the world on the other side of the transmission array, they should be able to meet them.

“Let’s go in,” urged Song Yan Ning as she stepped eagerly into the transmission array. She hoped to see her family in the world beyond.

Qin Yushen and Elder Mie Yu followed closely behind.

Not long after the trio of Song Yan Ning had left, the Dragon City Lord and his entourage arrived at the Extreme Ice Northern Region Prison.

“I’m almost frozen solid here. Those from the Fox Clan must have perished long ago, we shouldn’t go in,” the Snake City Lord said through chattering teeth, his tongue swelling from the cold.

“The surviving remnants of the Fox Clan would surely be walking to their deaths by entering,” agreed the White Tiger City Lord, nodding. Even though he was better at enduring the cold, he too was starting to feel overwhelmed by the chill.

It was the Dragon City Lord’s first visit to the Extreme Ice Northern Region Prison. He had thought that the temperature difference between the prison and the Extreme Ice North Domain wouldn’t be too great, but only after entering did he understand what real coldness was. If it weren’t for the Dragon Clan’s inherently thick skin, he would have turned into a block of ice.

Thinking this, the Dragon City Lord nodded in agreement, “I very much agree with you both, let’s go back.” This time they had spent so long but had come up empty-handed, which was extremely frustrating. If only they could catch that fellow with the Divine Artifact. Even though that person had escaped, since he had discovered he possessed a Divine Artifact, he would set a trap for him in White Tiger City. Unless that person hid in the Extreme Ice North Domain forever.

Song Yan Ning felt solid ground beneath her feet again, knowing she had emerged from the transmission array. Opening her eyes and looking around, she discovered they were in an endless sand desert. The place wasn’t cold but rather made her feel somewhat hot. A new sense of hope for seeing her family surged within her.

“Your Highness, try and see if you can use your Divine Sense here,” Elder Mie Yu asked anxiously. She had tried to use Divine Sense to examine what world this was the moment she stepped out of the transmission array, only to find it completely unresponsive. Without Divine Sense, they could not retrieve anything from their Storage Rings, meaning they had nothing on them.

Song Yan Ning and Qin Yushen tried to release their Divine Sense and discovered it truly couldn’t be used. However, they weren’t worried, as this wasn’t their first time in an otherworld where Divine Sense was unusable.

After the last time they couldn’t use Divine Sense in an otherworld, they had trained in Ancient Martial Arts and superpowers. They believed that even if they couldn’t use Divine Sense, they wouldn’t be at a disadvantage in this strange world. If they couldn’t use Divine Sense, the people in this world couldn’t either.

“Can you use it?” Elder Mie Yu asked anxiously.

Song Yan Ning shook her head, “Don’t worry, the ship will straighten itself when it gets to the bridge.”

“But without Divine Sense, we can’t take anything out of our Storage Rings. What if we get injured?” Elder Mie Yu worried. Even if the Princess was a Level 9 Alchemy Grandmaster, she needed materials to craft elixirs.

“Let’s find someone first and ask what sort of world this is,” suggested Song Yan Ning, choosing a direction to walk towards with Qin Yushen.

Elder Mie Yu shook her head and stepped up to follow the two. She wasn’t as optimistic as they were.

Walking aimlessly through the vast desert, it took Song Yan Ning and her companions a full half month before they finally saw the end of the desert.

“We’ve finally walked out of the desert!” Elder Mie Yu exclaimed joyfully upon seeing a lake in the distance. It had been half a month since she had drunk water, and even as a Cultivator, she was barely holding on.

Song Yan Ning and her companions approached the lake’s edge, crouched down, and reached out to scoop up water to quench their thirst, only to find they couldn’t even dip their hands into the water.

“What’s going on?” Elder Mie Yu tried several times, only to get the same result each time.

While the three of them were puzzled, they heard footsteps coming from behind.

Turning to look, they saw a dark-skinned man, as thin as a skeleton, carrying a wooden bucket towards them.

The man looked surprised too when he saw Song Yan Ning and her companions.

Approaching the lake, the man placed his bucket into the water and soon hoisted up half a bucketful.

“Can I ask, how are you able to get water? Why can’t we even put our hands in?” Elder Mie Yu asked the man after he had finished fetching water and had tried once more, to no avail.

“You’re from the outside, aren’t you?” The man handed the bucket to Song Yan Ning and her companions, gesturing for them to drink the water from the bucket.

“How do you know?” Qin Yushen asked, “Do many people from outside come here?”

“This world is called the Lost Ruins. My ancestors were from an outside world when they first came here.”

“Is there a way out?” Elder Mie Yu took a sip of water and felt her throat much relieved, no longer searing with pain as before.

The man shook his head, “This world is called the Lost Ruins precisely because there is only a way in. No one has ever been able to leave.” If there was a way out, his ancestors wouldn’t have died in despair.

Elder Mie Yu looked at Song Yan Ning with a pained expression. If they really couldn’t leave, even if they found the Demon King and Demon Queen, they wouldn’t be able to return for revenge.

Song Yan Ning smiled and shook her head. She believed that if there was an entrance to this world, then there certainly had to be a way out.

“Why can’t we take water?” Song Yan Ning asked, curious about this.

“This is Shuimu Lake. Except for the wooden bucket, nothing else can get water out,” the man explained. He himself was somewhat curious, but it had already been this way since he was born.

Song Yan Ning picked up the bucket and easily placed it into the lake.

“Don’t do that!” the man shouted anxiously upon seeing this.
