Chapter 33: You guys are so happy
In the dimly lit KTV private room, cakes flew about haphazardly, and everyone laughed loudly. Accompanied by the surround-sound music, the colorful lights flashed like a scene of demons dancing wildly.
Jiang He stood quietly in a corner by herself. In the dim environment, no one noticed her. She held a cake, taking bite after bite, occasionally licking the cream off her lips.
After a long while, the chaos subsided.
"Why throw something so delicious?"
Looking at the mess on the floor, Jiang He couldn't understand. Even if one was a wealthy landowner, money was still hard-earned.
"Because... one of its purposes is this." Xu Qing wiped the cream from his hair with a tissue, unsure how to explain. "If you like it, I'll buy you one next time. We can hide at home and eat it, not wasting any."
"..."
Jiang He stared at him, then looked down at the crumbled cake on the ground. A complex feeling rose from her heart.
She suddenly realized. What is a prosperous age?
Tall buildings, neon lights, computers and phones, the crowds and the lights at night—these things amazed her, but they were merely a natural reaction to things she had never seen before.
Xu Qing said this is the best era. She didn’t understand before, but now, she truly felt it—she experienced the "prosperous age" in a nearly absurd form.
"I’ll go clean up in the bathroom. You sit for a bit, and then we’ll head home."
Xu Qing frowned, patting his hair. He gave Jiang He a quick reminder, then turned to leave but came back a few steps later. "Do you want to go?"
"No need."
Jiang He shook her head and picked a clean spot to sit, watching the people in front of the screen scream into the microphone, wondering what they were thinking.
"Hey, beautiful, is Qingge leaving you here alone?"
After a moment, a voice came from the side. Jiang He glanced at him but didn’t respond.
Xu Qing had said this person was disgusting and that she shouldn’t talk to him.
"This clean one, you weren’t playing with them just now?" Liang Zi looked at her, surprised. He reached up to grab a bit of cream from his shoulder and tried to smear it on her. "Here, let me give you some..."
Jiang He dodged, coldly watching him. "What are you doing?"
"Everyone’s dirty. You’re so clean, it’s not good. Come on..."
Liang Zi reached out again but was once more avoided by Jiang He. He gave up and smeared the cream on the sofa beside them, laughing. "Just kidding. What’s your name?"
"I don’t want to talk to you."
Jiang He frowned and sat down in a different spot.
"Why don’t you want to talk to me?"
"..."
Jiang He remained silent.
"Hmm? Why?" Liang Zi asked with interest. He didn’t need to be told—he was sure Xu Qing had told her something. Once she said what Xu Qing said, then he could...
"Because you're disgusting." Jiang He looked at him in disgust and finally understood why Xu Qing said this person was disgusting.
She had said she didn’t want to talk, yet he kept coming over and bothering her.
"Disgusting? Qingzi taught you to say that, right?" Liang Zi smirked and sat down next to her. "Let me tell you..."
Seeing his actions, Jiang He coldly said, "Get lost."
"…"
Liang Zi froze for a moment, then laughed angrily, "I’m giving you face..."
"What did you say?" Jiang He’s brows twitched.
"I said..."
"Who’s giving you face?"
Xu Qing’s face was wet, and he stepped between the two, almost pressing against Liang Zi.
Liang Zi instinctively took a step back, looked at him with a smile, and was about to speak when he saw Xu Qing had no intention of talking to him. He turned to Jiang He and asked, "What happened?"
"He cursed at me," Jiang He said expressionlessly, glancing at Liang Zi. She added, "And tried to touch my face."
If Xu Qing hadn’t returned, this guy would already be on the floor.
"You really know how to cause trouble..." Xu Qing chuckled. "I wouldn’t even dare... take off my glasses."
"What?" Liang Zi frowned.
Then, a sharp pain hit his abdomen, and he instinctively hunched over.
"Trouble!"
Xu Qing threw another punch into his stomach.
"Giving you face!"
Another punch.
"Hey, what the hell is going on?!"
Noticing the commotion, Wang Zhi Jun rushed over, tugging but not able to pull them apart. He directly shoved his way between them, separating them, and shouted toward the door, "Turn on the lights! Don’t sing yet… I’ll go!"
Wang Zhi Jun was shoved aside by Xu Qing, and then the lights turned on.
Liang Zi swung his fists randomly, hitting Xu Qing’s face and head. Xu Qing simply squinted, throwing punch after punch into his stomach.
"Talking nonsense!"
"Looking for trouble!"
"Touching..."
This punch didn’t land because Jiang He, who had somehow gotten up, grabbed him. Xu Qing felt a huge force pulling him away. Just as he was about to ask, he saw Liang Zi spit out.
Sensing the hand that had been pulling him loosen, Xu Qing didn’t rush to thank her. He kicked Liang Zi, who was coughing and hunched over, sending him crashing to the ground.
"Stop fighting!" Wang Zhi Jun ran over and held Xu Qing tightly. "What’s going on? What is this?!"
"He just touched my girlfriend’s face." Xu Qing turned to look at him. "Are you going to let go?"
"…"
Wang Zhi Jun looked at Liang Zi, who was struggling on the floor, and felt like a sheep in a stampede. He decisively let go of Xu Qing.
"F*ck…"
Now he just wanted to slap himself.
Why did he have to bring them together like this?!
Some people who had come over to help Liang Zi, seeing that Wang Zhi Jun had let go, watched as Xu Qing walked over. The helpers immediately stepped back, retreating to the side to watch the scene unfold.
Wang Zhi Jun, who was supposed to be in charge, didn’t care. He just watched the drama unfold. And honestly, the violence in the scene was quite exciting.
Bang!
Bang!
Xu Qing continued kicking, seeing that Liang Zi was just holding his head and not trying to get up, before stopping. Feeling the warmth of blood at his nose, he wiped it, took some tissue, and glanced around, giving Jiang He a warning with his eyes.
"You’re really asking for trouble."
Xu Qing spat, wiped his nose, and looked at Wang Zhi Jun. "You want a couple of kicks too? You’re the one who caused this mess."
"I’d like to kick you." Wang Zhi Jun waved his hand to the others watching, "Disperse, everyone, go on. We’ll hang out another day. This situation is messed up..."
A few moments later, only Xu Qing and his group of five remained in the private room—Wang Zhi Jun’s girlfriend was sitting in the corner, watching the show.
"Can you get up? If you can, let’s continue. If not, I’ll leave."
Xu Qing spoke with a muffled voice, still holding his nose. He tore open some new tissues and shoved them into his nostrils. He watched Wang Zhi Jun help Liang Zi up and waited for him to respond.
One fight should be enough to quiet him down for a while.
Liang Zi gasped, glaring at Xu Qing, wanting to get back at him, but feeling too weak to do so. He was conflicted inside.
"Why fight more? Are you alright, Liang Zi?" Wang Zhi Jun was annoyed and decided never to let these two interact again.
Fortunately, his girlfriend went out, and she hadn’t had time to feed them alcohol. Otherwise, things would’ve been even messier.
After a short break, Xu Qing replaced the tissues in his nose and looked at Liang Zi, saying, "If you’re not going to fight, then I’m going home."
He paused, pointing at Liang Zi, "Next time, don’t talk nonsense. If you have an issue, solve it now. Don’t say I didn’t give you a chance."
"…"
Before Liang Zi could respond, there was a knock at the door.
Wang Zhi Jun frowned and told his girlfriend to open the door.
"We received a report saying there was a fight here?"
Two people in police uniforms stood at the door, looking inside. Xu Qing’s heart sank, and when he saw who it was, he froze.
"Mouse?"
Qin Hao looked at the messy room and was also stunned.
