Chapter 5670: Dragon Devours Golden Python

Yue Changfeng was already feeling humiliated by Lu Qingshuang’s defiance. Now, that an unknown youth ignored all of them, his fury boiled over.

Without hesitation, he thrust out his spear to block the youth’s path. Lu Qingshuang sighed inwardly, feeling helpless.

Yue Changfeng had changed. Tu Meng’s influence played a part, but his own nature had also surfaced. Having been sealed for so long, his mind must have degraded.

This youth looked like a frail scholar, yet he had walked right up to them without anyone noticing. Even a fool would realize that he was no ordinary person. He had no enmity with them—so why was Yue Changfeng provoking him? Was he really so desperate for trouble?

The youth was staring intently at the bone tiles in his hands when he was suddenly blocked.

The tiles slipped from his fingers, clattering to the ground. There were six of them, and by sheer chance, they landed in a perfectly aligned formation.

The youth’s irritation at being stopped quickly shifted to surprise as he examined the arrangement. With a dark expression, he muttered, “The dragon devours the golden python. Devoured by a loss of righteousness. Calamity!”

His muttering meant nothing to the Golden Armor Horseman Legion, but seeing Yue Changfeng halt him, they instinctively surrounded the youth.

“Brat, why did you sneak up on the Golden Armor Horseman Legion? Speak quickly if you don’t want trouble!” one of the legion’s core experts barked.

The appearance of this strange youth drew everyone’s attention. They could use him to divert Lu Qingshuang’s attention.

The youth brushed off the dust from his bone tiles, completely unbothered. He said, “My affairs are none of your concern. You should worry about yourselves.”

Sensing something unusual about him, Lu Qingshuang put aside her conflict with Tu Meng and approached amicably. “Young brother, is this a divination technique? Were you tracking us?”

The youth lifted his gaze, his bright black-and-white eyes reflecting deep wisdom. When their eyes met, Lu Qingshuang shivered. It felt like he could see straight into her soul.

“Curious,” he murmured. “You aren’t within this fortune.”

“Brat, stop spouting a bunch of nonsense! Tell us why you snuck up on us!” shouted one of the experts on Tu Meng’s side.

Seeing Lu Qingshuang's curiosity, he felt the need to act domineering, as if to reassert his authority.

The youth, however, didn’t even glance at him. Instead, he addressed Lu Qingshuang directly. “I was calculating someone's karma, but I couldn’t find even the slightest trace. When you blocked my path, the bone tiles scattered. That is your fortune—the karma you created. It has nothing to do with me.”

Lu Qingshuang’s heart trembled. She quickly asked, “What do you mean by ‘that fortune’?”

The youth studied her for a moment before asking, “Do you have a Heavenly Blood Crystal?”

“A Heavenly Blood Crystal?” asked Lu Qingshuang, puzzled.

“I have one,” a soldier from the legion interjected, stepping forward with a palm-sized crystal shimmering in his hand.

“Give it to me,” said the youth.

The soldier sneered. "And why would I do that?"

“It costs money to read your fortune. Well… you don’t have to pay. Just get out of the way, and I’ll be on my way,” replied the youth indifferently.

The Heavenly Blood Crystal was an extremely rare treasure, something the soldier had obtained by sheer luck in the Heaven Vein Mystic Realm. There was no way he would just hand it over. He was about to scoff at the absurd request when Tu Meng shot him a meaningful look.

Her message was clear: Give it to him now. Once he’s done, we’ll just kill him and take it back.

Smirking, the soldier tossed the crystal over. The youth caught it effortlessly, tucking it away as if it were nothing special. Then, he said calmly, “The 'dragon devours the golden python' fortune is simple—it speaks of a dragon consuming its own offspring...

“The golden python obtained the true dragon’s favor, using dragon blood to shed its former self and give birth to golden scales and sacred qi. Thus, the golden python became the most respected of all pythons.

“But greed consumed it. Dissatisfied with the power granted by the dragon race, it sought a shortcut—attempting to transform into a dragon without undergoing bitter cultivation. In its arrogance, it led a rebellion.

“This is what it means to be devoured by one’s own lack of righteousness. Those who forget the difference between right and wrong, those who betray kindness, will ultimately destroy themselves. They will be consumed by their own karma.

“As for who the dragon represents, it could signify the dragon race, someone with the Long surname, or even a cultivator of the dragon race’s divine abilities. Likewise, the golden python could refer to the python race, someone with golden scales, or anyone who repays kindness with enmity—”

“Shut up!” Yue Changfeng’s expression darkened as he listened, his patience snapping. This wasn’t a fortune—it was a blatant curse!

“Damn brat, speak! What’s your connection to Long Chen?!” Tu Meng demanded furiously.

“Long Chen?” The youth was startled, murmuring to himself. “Is he the 'big brother Long' that the large fellow mentioned? The one I supposedly didn’t recognize, yet somehow made me uneasy? I was never able to calculate his karma…”

Lu Qingshuang couldn’t help being shocked as she stared at the youth. She even started to suspect that this youth knew Long Chen and had intentionally come to insult them.

But that didn’t add up. The details of her encounter with Long Chen weren’t widely known. And from what she understood, Long Chen wasn’t someone who flaunted his relationships or bragged about his actions. Even if they were acquainted, it was unlikely he’d send someone specifically to provoke them.

Most unsettling of all, the fortune-telling had just spoken of betrayal—of repaying kindness with enmity. The very thing that had happened mere moments ago.

How could this youth know of that?

The youth’s gaze was calm and unwavering, devoid of deceit or mockery. He didn’t look like a fraud, nor did he seem to be joking. Had he truly divined this? If so… that was terrifying.

Suddenly, a sharp lance thrust toward his throat.

“If you don’t want to die, you’ll do as you’re told,” the wielder growled.

The tip of the lance halted less than three inches from the youth’s neck, exuding a chilling killing intent.

The youth glanced at the weapon, then at its owner. His brows furrowed slightly.

“All things have their destined end,” he said calmly. “You weren’t meant to die by my hands… but if you insist on angering me, I’ll make an exception. Fine. Instead of money—I'll take your life.”

"Watch out!"

Yue Changfeng's warning rang out too late. He had been locking onto the youth’s aura the entire time—yet, in an instant, the presence before him vanished from his senses.

A streak of white light pierced through the soldier’s head, followed by a spray of blood. His life ended just like that.
