As Luca and the others arrived at Shelter 102, Zenobia stood coldly in the ruins of the Lakeside City city center library, her eyes fixed on Councilor Devitt, who was not far from her.

“You people from the Via Empire really are useless!” she sneered coldly.

Councilor Devitt gave a derisive laugh and retorted, “Is it my fault? In the battle earlier, I successfully held off those two women. The mission failed entirely because you couldn’t defeat Luca.”

“How dare you say that?!” Zenobia roared, her anger boiling over.

“I’ve lowered myself to cooperate with you, and you should be grateful for that! And now you dare to blame me for not being strong enough?!”

A powerful chaotic force storm filled the entire library, shaking the very foundation of the ruins.

Devitt certainly felt the immense threat. While he feared Zenobia’s power, it didn’t mean he would simply submit to her.

“I’m not here to question your strength. I just think your plan has some flaws,” he said, trying to keep his composure.

“Then why didn’t you bring it up before?” Zenobia demanded.

“I’ve said it before — we can’t fight them near Shelter 102. From the beginning, we should have confronted them in Lakeside City!”

Devitt finally voiced his thoughts.

From the start, he had felt that the power they had at hand wasn’t enough to defeat Luca. However, Zenobia had been adamant about setting a trap. Given that his own power didn’t match hers, Devitt had refrained from asserting his own judgment. But now, after their plan had completely failed, he felt entitled to insist on his stance.

“Fighting them here would be just as dangerous for us! Lakeside City is the most central area we can control. If we lose control of Lakeside City, we won’t be able to strengthen ourselves anymore,” Zenobia said, her tone softening a little.

She did feel that her plan had failed too easily, but she still believed it was too risky to place Lakeside City in immediate danger.

“A half-baked plan is hard to pull off. And even if you don’t want to make your stand in Lakeside City, they must already be planning to head there,” she added.

Although Councilor Devitt didn’t know Luca very well, he was quite familiar with Nova and the people from Zenith Technology Company. Since the people from Zenith Technology Company had already shown clear hostility towards him, it was unlikely that they would let him off easily. Nova, in particular, would continue to track him. It wouldn’t be long before she could confirm that he was most likely in Lakeside City.

“If that’s the case, do you have any specific ideas?” Zenobia asked slowly.

Although she looked down on his strength, she still believed that he had a talent for scheming.

The Via Empire wouldn’t send someone without any advantages to the real world.

A strange smile appeared on Councilor Devitt’s face.

“As far as I know, Luca has reached level 70. What he most wants right now is to complete his second awakening profession change. Gaining enough strength is a necessary condition for the second awakening profession change, so we should consider that aspect.”

“He won’t accept chaotic power,” Zenobia directly countered.

“Perhaps not, but we can disguise the chaotic power. Isn’t there a fragment of the Ancient Gods underground in Lakeside City? We could trigger the primal power within that fragment.”

Councilor Devitt finally revealed his true thoughts.

In fact, it wasn’t until he arrived in Lakeside City that he discovered the fragment of the Ancient Gods beneath it. This discovery made him very excited.

The Via Empire had sent him to the real world for three purposes.

The first, of course, was to limit Luca’s power. The second was to further understand Zenith Technology Company and, when necessary, prevent Zenith Technology Company from acquiring more technology related to artificial monsters.

The third, and the only hidden mission, was to explore the traces of the Ancient Gods in the real world.

According to the intelligence gathered by the Via Empire, the Ancient Gods were capable of crossing different worlds. This meant that both the real world and the Eternal World had remnants of the Ancient Gods.

The Via Empire needed the power of the Ancient Gods to fight against other nations in the Eternal World and chaos deities that refused to cooperate with the Via Empire.

In his actions, Councilor Devitt had hidden a deeper conspiracy.

If his plan succeeded, then at least in his own view, Devitt believed that all three of his tasks could be accomplished in one go.

Zenobia appeared to be deeply hesitant. As a chaos deity, she was naturally very sensitive to primal power. Therefore, she had already noticed the fragment of the Ancient Gods beneath Lakeside City.

At first, she had chosen to seal the Ancient Gods fragment using the power of monsters, preventing the primal power within it from spreading.

When Devitt mentioned using the Ancient Gods fragment to lure Luca, Zenobia saw that the plan could indeed succeed. However, if anything went wrong, Luca could very well complete his second awakening profession change.

If that happened, their situation would become even more difficult.

“Your Excellency, I know what you’re worried about. But as I said before, a half-baked plan is very hard to pull off. If we don’t put in something of significant value, how can we expect to reap great rewards?” Devitt’s words eventually convinced Zenobia.

Zenobia slowly nodded.

“You’ve convinced me. I will allow you to use the Ancient Gods fragment. But I must warn you, your plan must be perfect.”

“Don’t worry! My plan is perfect,” Devitt replied confidently.

And so, the two reached an agreement.

Devitt would be responsible for formulating the next steps of the plan, while Zenobia chose to continue resting and recuperating, so that she would be in the best possible condition for the upcoming battles.

Devitt’s plan would take a long time to set up, but he assured Zenobia that it would be completed before Luca and the others arrived in Lakeside City.

Two days passed in the blink of an eye.

Fuzzsir and Melania arrived at Shelter 102 in the afternoon.

Two hours later, Nova also arrived at the shelter.

Donlow and Luca had been waiting inside for the three of them.

“We have a rough idea of the situation. Before coming, Drumph specifically told us that we must follow Luca’s command during the operation,” Fuzzsir said with a smile.

He was looking forward to collaborating with Luca once again.

A smile of excitement appeared on Melania’s face beside him as well. However, the smiles of both of them quickly faded.

They realized that the atmosphere in the meeting room was very tense.

“Thank you both for coming to assist us on such short notice. This collaboration will certainly be filled with danger. In fact, I can say that the level of danger in this operation is far beyond what you might imagine,” Luca said in a serious tone.

His words caused the lingering smiles on their faces to vanish completely.

“What’s going on that has you both so tense? I remember when we faced the chaos demoness in Imperial Capital, you weren’t this nervous. Is our opponent this time even stronger than that?” Fuzzsir asked, a bit confused.

To him, Luca had never seemed so tense.

Luca didn’t answer his question. Instead, Donlow, standing beside him, spread out a map.

It was a map of the area surrounding Lakeside City.

Since Lakeside City was a large city, and there were several satellite towns around it, the map looked exceptionally complicated.

The map was filled with a lot of information. The most noticeable, of course, were the areas where monsters were concentrated.

“This is the target of our plan. We need to go to Lakeside City, and most likely, to the city center,” Donlow said coldly.

Fuzzsir and Melania’s expressions finally became serious.

They had heard of Lakeside City, but neither of them had ever been there.

Northern Territory’s Morning Star had once planned to clear the monsters in Lakeside City. However, a small but capable team sent out had been forced to retreat before even reaching the outskirts of Lakeside City.

That team hadn’t been able to fully eliminate the monsters in even the satellite towns surrounding Lakeside City.

“Why do we have to do this? The monsters in Lakeside City don’t seem very active. We don’t need to rush to clear all of them,” Fuzzsir asked, confused.

“Because someone who poses a great threat to us is in Lakeside City,” Nova, who had remained silent until now, suddenly spoke up.

Everyone turned their gaze towards her.

“He’s a figure from the Eternal World, and he could bring about a tremendous disaster for our world, which is why we must act quickly,” Nova explained further.

Although she didn’t reveal all the information, what she said was enough to convey the urgency of the situation.

Additionally, her words helped Luca avoid further explanation. After all, Luca couldn’t explain everything too clearly himself, and he didn’t want the Morning Star members to know too much about his own strengths.

He gave Nova a grateful glance before saying, “His background isn’t actually that important. What matters is that he poses a significant threat to us. I’ll tell you more about his combat abilities in detail. For now, focus on making the final preparations before we move out!”
