PAMPERED BY MY THREE BROTHERS: THE RETURN OF THE NEGLECTED HEIRESS
Chapter 1850: Old Mrs. Pierson’s SecretChapter 1850: Old Mrs. Pierson’s Secret
“Madam.” Butler Hubert stopped a few steps from Old Mrs. Pierson, who was currently watering the plants. “I’ve sent Madam Mildred off. She says she’ll be back soon.”
Old Mrs. Pierson smiled as she placed the watering can to the side. Holding her hands behind her, a satisfied smile turned up on her face.
Butler Hubert, on the other hand, maintained a smile at the peaceful look on the elderly woman’s face. “It seems something good happened, Old Madam.”
“Mildred finally mustered her courage,” she said with relief.
His brows rose in surprise, and then his expression softened. “No wonder you were smiling like that, madam.”
“It took her quite a while,” he added in relief, slowly gazing up at the sky. His eyes softened as he thought about Mildred’s mother. “She’ll probably be heaving a sigh of relief too.”
Old Mrs. Pierson chuckled while Butler Hubert raised his brows in surprise.
“By the way, Madam,” Butler Hubert remarked. “Did you tell Madam Mildred why you still encouraged her to see men, even when you already knew about her preferences?”
Old Mrs. Pierson didn’t answer, but she had. After all, Mildred had asked the same question. Her answer was simple: she simply gave Mildred reasons and opportunities to come out. Who would have thought that Mildred would go so far as to marry someone just to hide what her heart truly wanted?
Butler Hubert didn’t press any further, lowering his head. “I’ll prepare your tea before the Young Master, the Young Miss, and Sir Slater arrive for your regular exercise.”
With that, Butler Hubert strode off. Meanwhile, Old Mrs. Pierson sat on the garden bench, looking around. A smile remained on her face as she listened to the soft whisper of the wind brushing against her skin.
In this peaceful silence, she caught sight of a figure seated by her side. When she turned, there was an old man, smiling at her lovingly. He tipped his head to the side, making Old Mrs. Pierson turn her gaze forward.
There, standing before her, was Enzo.
Old Mrs. Pierson smiled subtly, both at her son and her husband. A shallow breath slipped past her lips before she nodded at them.
—
Moments later…
“Madam?” Butler Hubert walked back into the courtyard where he had left Old Mrs. Pierson. Seeing her slouched on the bench, he approached her.
Then, he stopped a few steps from her spot, his brows rising. After a second, his head dropped, and he jogged toward her.
“Madam…”

[Old Mrs. Pierson’s short flashback]
“Madam, you called for me?”
Old Mrs. Pierson stared at a young lady seated across from her in a courtyard. She smiled and nodded.
“It’s been a while,” she said, reaching out to hold her hand. “How have you been, Madam?”
The young lady squeezed her hand mildly across the table, studying the wrinkled face across from her.
“Your face might have aged, but I can see that you are at peace,” the young lady said, speaking to Old Mrs. Pierson as if they were the same age—or rather, as if she were older than her.
“And you look just the same as I remembered,” Old Mrs. Pierson remarked.
A moment of silence fell between them before a question slipped from the young lady’s lips.
“Was it worth it?”
Old Mrs. Pierson chuckled, not immediately answering. After all, Old Mrs. Pierson had a secret that she couldn’t tell anyone. That was…
“It was. The second life I was granted to change my life… I am glad you were there to help me.”
“Like I said, it’s not me,” said the young lady, her eyes falling on the beaded bracelet around the old madam’s wrist. She then snapped her eyes up and nodded. “I’m simply someone who delivered this gift to you.”
Old Mrs. Pierson wasn’t always the best, nor was her life smooth sailing. If anything, she had been the last pick in her family. Arranged to marry a deadbeat who only knew how to hurt her, and everyone around her deemed her unworthy—life had been tough for her.
But thanks to this young lady, she got to redo everything.
Instead of marrying the man her family had arranged for her, she approached the most dangerous man of her time.
“Back then, I was thinking if I’m going to live a living hell, I’d rather choose my own hell,” Old Mrs. Pierson mused. “But if he was the devil, then I married the devil… and loved him dearly.”
Because the man others called a devil gave her heaven.
The young lady smiled subtly and nodded. “I’m glad to hear that. I thought you despised me, because in the end, you ended up alone.”
“I am not alone, madam,” Old Mrs. Pierson chuckled. “I have my grandson with me.”
She paused, her smile stretching wider. “And now, my grandson is in good hands. He met a beautiful young lady who is not only pretty on the outside but also has the biggest heart. She also comes from a nice family that welcomed my son with all their hearts.”
“I see.” The young lady returned. “No wonder you were at peace.”
“Madam, I called because… I have a question,” Old Mrs. Pierson leaned forward. “You told me that my grandson was born with the luckiest star alignment, and that he might be just like me.”
Just like her, who had been blessed to have the favor of the heavens. By that, she meant being able to redo life and change it — only if her heart deeply desired it.
“For me, this is my second life,” Old Mrs. Pierson remarked. “But if he had gone back in time, doesn’t that mean it’s a third for me?”
The young lady maintained a smile and squeezed Old Mrs. Pierson’s hand. “I did mention that your son was born when all the stars aligned, and that he is born lucky. However, I cannot tell you that.”
“I see…”
“Even so, he is born lucky,” the young lady said. “And if he puts his heart, mind, and soul into something, even heaven cannot ignore such a manifestation. The heavens will grant it—be it going back in time, just as they granted yours.”
“Either way, don’t you like the present?” the young lady added.
Old Mrs. Pierson shook her head. “No,” she whispered. “I think… my grandson will be fine.”
Old Mrs. Pierson might never know if her grandson had received the blessing passed down through their family, but one thing she was sure of: Zoren would be fine, with or without her.
