Chapter 3081: Vine-Woven Raft

The vine-woven raft floated on the water and swayed with the waves.

The tanned girl carefully climbed aboard. The raft rocked and sank slightly under her weight.

The tanned girl stretched her hand toward Ning Shu and said, “Try coming up.”

Ning Shu climbed up and caused the raft to sink more. Water seeped in between the cracks of the raft.

Fortunately, they’d woven the raft in a large enough size. They distributed their weight across the broad surface so it didn’t sink entirely.

The tanned girl was delighted and picked up a pair of makeshift oars to start rowing.

Ning Shu sat on one side while the tanned girl sat on the other. They both paddled together.

The small raft slowly moved forward.

Ning Shu placed her hand into the water and released her fiery yang energy. A small dragon, as thick as an arm, swam beneath the raft. It helped to nudge it forward and push it along.

It instantly made it much easier to propel the raft forward.

This was the result of her training over the past few days. She now had enough spiritual energy to create a single little fire dragon.

However, fiery yang energy was inherently incompatible with water, and she wasn’t sure how long this little fire dragon could hold out.

“Huh…” the tanned girl let out a sound of surprise. She had felt that rowing suddenly became not as strenuous just now.

“I feel like we’re moving much faster. Do you think so as well?” she couldn’t help but ask Ning Shu. She wondered if it was just her imagination. Perhaps she wanted to leave so badly that it was warping her perception.

Ning Shu replied, “Maybe we’re just going with the current.”

“Maybe.” The tanned girl crouched down and reached her hand into the water. She tried to feel the speed and direction of the flow.

“Don’t put your hand in the sea. This isn’t fresh water. There are a lot of dangerous creatures in the sea. Take it out,” Ning Shu warned.

The tanned girl hadn’t yet been able to figure out anything from the sensation of the water flow. She had grown up around water and had a lot of experience around it but she still heeded Ning Shu’s warning and quickly pulled her hand back.

The crude raft sailed along at a moderate pace and left the island behind.

When they looked back, the island had already shrunk into the distance.

The tanned girl let out a long breath. “We finally escaped.”

Ning Shu curled her lips into a slight smile but didn’t say anything. It was a bit too early to say that they had escaped now.

The night over the sea was a little chilly, especially with their feet still soaked in water.

Even though it was summer, the cold was hard to bear.

What surprised Ning Shu was that although she and the tanned had been gone for a whole day, their captors had shown no sign of pursuit. No one had come to intercept them.

The island had already shrunk into a mere black dot. They had put considerable distance between themselves and it, yet their captors still hadn’t taken action.

Were they just letting them leave?

Or did they think the two of them wouldn’t survive at sea?

The tanned girl set her crude oars aside and said, “We shouldn’t keep moving at night. We can’t see anything so it’s too dangerous.”

Ning Shu looked up at the sky. A half-moon hung overhead, but there were no stars, which made it impossible for her to navigate.

She reached into the water and retracted her little fire dragon.

After swimming for an entire day, the dragon’s energy had been greatly depleted, and it was now much smaller than before.

Ning Shu sat cross-legged on the raft. Water seeped through the woven vines beneath her and soaked her lower body.

She felt like her entire lower half was submerged…

If she really made it back home like this, she figured her butt would be completely pale from being soaked for so long.

The tanned girl felt exhausted. She leaned against Ning Shu and mumbled drowsily, “I’ll nap for a bit, then switch with you later.”

Ning Shu hummed in acknowledgment and began cultivating.

Her cultivation speed was slow when she cultivated on the sea. The water surrounding her weakened her fiery yang energy.

Not to mention, it was nighttime.

However, at least in the daytime, fiery yang energy continuously flowed out from the sun, even though it was still a pitiful amount. No matter what, the continuous supply was at least better than the heartbreaking bit of spiritual energy in modern planes.

The tanned girl said she’d switch with Ning Shu later, but she ended up falling into a deep sleep. She rested her head on Ning Shu’s thigh and slept soundly.

During their ten days on the island, everyone had been on edge. None of them dared to let their guard down for even a moment.
