Chapter 2352: Black Skeleton
The Set academy's elders' tension was not the only thing happening outside.
There is another group of people that are currently sitting in a dark room. There is a large table in the middle of those ten people projecting a three dimensional holographic image of the pocket dimension.
These are the elders from various academies sent to represent their respective academies in handling the pocket dimension.
The undead creatures, constant spawning and upgrading of their threat levels has made this one of the most unique pocket dimensions that ever opened up in the Academy realm. So, the academies were extra cautious in handling it and installed a unique surveillance method that cost them a dozen fortunes.
In the projection, they can see the markers of various colors identifying the locations of the skeletal creatures as well as other special creatures like the tree-man.
Surprisingly, they are also marked with the same colors that used to categorize them. From white to violet. And each type of marker is also of different size, indicating their energy levels.
There are also markers indicating the positions of the candidates inside.
At the moment, all their eyes are focused on only three particular spots. All three are of the violet creature markers and they are the biggest in the size among all the markers on the table.
"These creatures... they went past the previous testing limits. Their energy density is higher than all the creatures. The energy density and level of all three put together is higher than the enegry level of all the other creatures in there combined. It is almost a boon that these creatures don't actually have living bodies with muscles and flesh. The skeleton body actually made them a bit more fragile. If they could have energy networks and a way to handle that energy... these kids will have the run for their money."
One of the elders said, with a faint hint of excitement in his tone.
"Why do you sound so happy about this?" Another elder said.
"If anything we have to be worried about this. We tested the pocket dimension a dozen times, we barely managed to push around a dozen creatures to violet level at the same time. But now we have dozens, even more than a hundred now. These three... their energy density, I have a bad feeling about this." A different elder said.
"Based on my calculations, they are soon going to reach the estimated limit of violet level creatures. We don'tknow what will happen after it reaches the limit. The growth patterns are also not exactly clear for us to guess what will happen."
"I guess we will find out."
One of the elders created a separate projection beside the original one and that gave the actual image of what is happening in the pocket dimension. A skeletal creature, to be precise the Giant humanoid skeleton. similar to the one Sam encountered as soon as he entered the pocket dimension is standing there in the middle of rampaging creatures.
It didn't even move. It came to a complete standstill as the trinket Sam attached to it glowed. It constantly kept on gathering enegry, while the skeleton absorbed it in real time. There are no signs of broken spots, or cracks, but the creature is absorbing energy non-stop. Sam who was taking a break along with Crow also sensed the weird behavior of the skeleton. He took off with Crow and reappeared, keeping a decent distance between this Giant skeleton and themselves.
He activated energy vision to absorb what kind of change is happening.
Then he noticed that the raging violet enegry around the creature has become lot more refined. It is not as raging as before and in fact is pretty tame. Of course, tame doesn't mean it is less dangerous.
Sam felt the most threat from that one skeleton among all the threats he faced ever since he entered the pocket dimensions and his gut instinct is screaming to him with every passing second, indicating that the skeleton is becoming more and more dangerous.
Sam also noticed a ting of black to the violet energy through the energy vision.
After a couple of minutes, he did not even need the energy vision, because the bones of the skeleton started changing color.
Started with a faint grey hue, then a slight grey shade, then the shade became darker and finally it ended up becoming black.
It didnt even take long. The whole process only lasted five minutes.
However, that is not the end of it, as Sam expected. Once the whole skeleton reached the black color, the remaining enegry that was gathering into its bony body until now, started gathering at the central point of the skeleton.
It basically turned into an orb, that hovered in the rib cage of the skeleton. While the orb became bigger, the energy enveloping the skeleton also started becoming visible to the naked eye.
The energy is like a flame, but a black flame. Sam who is the cause of all this, had a bad feeling about this. Along with that bad feeling there is also an unknown excitement that he couldn't really express.
His only goal in coming to this academy tournament is to wreak havoc as much as he could and turn the enemies more hostile. He didn't even have the intention to join the team combat.
And even before he entered he gained way too much from this tournament and he was pretty satisfied.
However, at this moment, he felt like joining the team combat might just be the best decision he made after entering the tournament.
The Giant skeleton, whatever it is... It is a threat that few people could handle. And just from the energy spike, Sam knew that it is long past the peak stage of second grade.
It is very close to the third grade level than the second grade and these candidates, even with all the tricks... Sam doesn't know if they will be able to handle it.
He excited to what the consequences of this would be.
Of course, not everyone shared Sam's excitement. A different candidate nearby observed the energy fluctuations and came here, of course he is entangled with a bunch of other creatures as he observed the black skeleton transformation.
But when he sensed the energy coming out of the black skeleton, he immediately pulled out his trump card.
A spear with an energy that could drown a continent into the sea is thrown at the skeleton.
The spear destroyed a few skeletons on the way, without even touching them. The residual energy that it left behind on its trail was enough to do that.
However, when it hit the black skeleton.
*BANG*
The spear was stopped at the moment of contact and the recoil force was so strong that the shaft buckled into itself. But there was not even a scratch on the skeleton. Because for there to be a scratch there has to be some form of impact. But the force didn't even reach the skeleton's surface.
It was stopped by the black energy that covered its body. The sound of the spear hitting something solid didn't come from its impact on the skeleton, rather from its impact on the
energy.
The candidate is slack jawed, and his knees buckled just from that sight. He cannot believe that the attack he put everything in, was just negated like that.
But he didn't have enough time to stay there and process it. He is not exactly in a safe situation. The skeletons pounced on him, while the black skeleton didn't seem to want to bother with him for attacking.
It looked around for a moment and its eyes finally landed on Crow. Sam frowned and looked at Crow and then at the skeleton.
Before he could understand what is happening, the skeleton disappeared into a black flash.
*SWOOSH*
It ran through the sky and threw a punch at Crow.
As the black bony fist of the skeleton came at him, Crow froze on the spot. His body didn't
heed his commands or thoughts. A feeling... as if he is being devoured by something superior, something extraordinarily evil invaded his mind.
He knew he should try and dodge, but he also knew for some reason, he should just surrender
and die.
Just when he was about to be embraced by that feeling.
*BOOM*
The fist was intercepted. Sam kicked it from the side before it could make contact with Crow.
He used the recoil style, while he held the Crow's collar. The skeleton's fist was deflected, but
it didn't break and neither did the skeleton fly away.
However, Sam and Crow did fly away without much trouble.
They crashed into a group of other skeletons that tried to pounce on them.
With a few energy bullets flying around, the path cleared up. However, before they could slip
out, the black skeleton came at them. It went after Crow once again. Sam's earlier interception, did nothing to attract its hostility towards him.
This time, Sam didn't even have time to intercept the attack. He could only kick Crow out of
the way and then followed after him.
While they are still in mid-air, he used spatial blink.
The Black skeleton halted its charge and looked around.
