Chapter 2465 Negotiate
Sam and the Gambler academy team had a huge discussion. Or rather, one could say it is more of a set of instructions.
Sam gave and the team decided to follow.
And the first of those set of instructions was that Haziel accepts the invite for the meeting with the opposing teams. They didn't even oppose or ask to change anything. The time, place and the meeting conditions were all set by the opposing teams.
Haziel is to go there with two more people and they are going to meet a few miles away from the base of the opponents.
As per that agreement, Haziel went with the formation master and the healer of the team.
They didn't make many preparations and Sam didn't prepare the rest of the gambler team to wait in ambush or for backup.
The opponents on the other hand, had a meeting of their own before the meeting with the gambler academy team.
In the same meeting room, in which Quinzz ranted for hours, everyone was sitting in their positions while Quinzz stood up in front of a board. The board had the layout of their meeting spot hung up on it.
"We are meeting at the Lava Lake. There is a small island in the middle and the meeting will happen on that.
The lava lake is of highly intense fire elemental energy. From our checks, we even found the traces of Phoenix blood in there.
It is hard to endure it for a long time for us even with our current cultivation. With the lake as the center, the surroundings are covered with fire elemental energy field. Whether you want to go in there by foot or from the sky, you have to go through that domain of fire energy.
So, this place makes it hard for us and for them to prepare for an ambush or do something dirty."
"So, pray tell, Quinzz. Why did we make an idiotic decision to hold the meeting here?" Mae grumbled
"Because this is exactly the place that they least expect us to play dirty.
Whatever I said this morning… I mean it. We need to cut a deal with Haziel so that we can put this beef aside and enjoy the resources of this planet.
However, there is a good chance that this meeting might fall through. Or they might negotiate in the direction that we don't really like or appreciate.
If that turns out to be the case, we need to be ready with the contingency.
And capturing those three is our contingency."
"Capture?" One of the team members asked.
"Yes. We are going to move to capture them. Because from what I observed, the Gambler academy is definitely going to place people nearby. It would be either outside the fiery domain around the lake or at the edges of it.
It will take some time for them to react.
In that time, we will capture these three and then get an upper hand in the negotiation. We will lock with a soul contract and it will be done."
"Why go through all that trouble? We can just kill them." Mae once again dropped her suggestion in a grumble.
"Yeah and then what? Guys Haziel is not even their best candidate. Her team only ranks fifth or sixth in the gambler academy's third grade elite teams.
Unlike us, the Olympian academies, the gambler academy has something more.
Loyalty.
They have each other's backs and once we take drastic measures, the Olympian academy's teams will come raining down on us.
If one team could make such trouble for us even with our overpowered forces. What do you think will happen when more people come at us?
These assholes are ruthless
I don't want that fight. I am in this conquest to get me some resources and benefits. Not make enemies.
In the first conquest, I lost out big time and I want to gain more this time."
"Alright, whatever you say."
"Then listen to me carefully. The plan has to be perfect. We don't have much time to prepare for this."
And the meeting continued. They ended it an hour before the meeting with gambler academy and moved out.
An hour after noon, on the island in the middle of the lava lake.
Haziel came with her two teammates. Quinzz came with his formation expert and Mae.
Both sides stood a few meters apart.
The island was small, so they were not really that far away. The surrounding lake was huge and it was giving of red colored smog. The lava was intense and emanated highly concentrated fire elemental energy in its rawest form.
They were sweating bullets despite their defenses up. They had to use their own spiritual energy to reduce the effect of the heat on their bodies.
"Haziel, I want a truce. We want a truce. In fact, we need a truce.
In this same realm, other planets are occupied and other academies are farming the resources as well. I am sure you have some info. They are unearthing valuable skeletons. Bloodstones, resources that could almost effect the power balance for the third grade.
But we are squabbling over this and we are losing reosurces.
So, what does it take for you guys to leave us alone. We will mark our territories and we will just take whatever that we can. What do you say?"
Quinzz directly went to the point.
"What do you have in mind? How do you plan to divide the territories?"
"We will work together. Athena and Hephaestus academies will get 75% of this planet and you can get 25. We will decide the territories based on further research. But this number will not change."
"Why would I short change myself like that? That is an unfair deal."
"Then what? You think you will get one third of the planet? The gambler team is small and you don't have the man power necessary to fight it out with us.
The only reason we came to truce is to save whatever miniscule loses that you can cause us.
That is all.
So, take what you can get." Mae interrupted before Quinzz can say anything.
