In the blink of an eye, the natural strong fire energy contained within the Scorched Inferno's Fang was pulled into the Ultima Sygrix. Then, in the same breath, the Ultima Sygrix latched onto the Scorched Inferno's Fang's blade.
The spear's blade became twisted and distorted before completely disappearing, leaving only the Scorched Inferno's Fang that resembled a staff. However, that was only what one would realize without a skill similar to Izroth's Spatial Awareness.
From Izroth's perspective, the blade of the Scorched Inferno's Fang had lost its marvelous sheen and was replaced by a deep ethereal coating. The blade also seemed to be bending in several different directions simultaneously-as if the space that surrounded it was in a constant state of change.
Not long after the Ultima Sygrix fused with the Scorched Inferno's Fang, Izroth could feel the spear trembling in his hands.
'Even though it's a level 55 rare weapon, it's barely managing to hold together. At least rate, it will shatter after a few breaths. I have to act fast.'
Izroth's idea of using the cauldron as a makeshift furnace and the Blazing Griffin Feather to enhance the flames was undoubtedly resourceful; however, it also meant that he was forced to bypass several steps that would ensure an item's stability. But, given his current circumstances, Izroth knew that he did not have the time to hesitate. Furthermore, what was one rare spear worth compared to the safety of those under his protection?
System Alert: Congratulations, you are the first player to forge a weapon in a cauldron!!
System Alert: Your world fame has increased by 500!!
System Alert: You have received the passive skill «<One Step Beyond»>!
'Hm? This is...'Izroth quickly glanced over the passive skill that popped up in front of him.
Skill Name: One Step Beyond
Skill Level: MAXED
Skill Rank: Unique*
Requirements: ???
Passive: Every Grade 8 or lower pill the user crafts in a cauldron has a 1% chance to have its quality increased by rank upon successful creation.
'What an unexpected gain. Even if I lose the Scorched Inferno's Fang, this skill alone more than makes up for it a hundred—no a thousand times over.'
Although it was only a 1% chance, at no extra cost, a grade three pill could suddenly become a grade four. Or, a grade eight pill could transform into a grade nine pill.
This was not as simple as adding plus one to something. Money, materials, time, energy-the higher the pill's grade, the more of each was required. Not to mention, a pill's worth skyrocketed between grades.
More importantly, Izroth was someone who possessed the skill Unparalleled Craftsman, which contained the passive skill Natural Talent. Like One Step Beyond, Natural Talent granted Izroth a chance to increase the quality of any item he crafted by one rank.
Of course, the main difference between the two was that One Step Beyond only worked on pills, while Natural Talent could activate on any item Izroth crafted.
Nevertheless, having both One Step Beyond and Natural Talent at his disposal gave Izroth a unique opportunity that perhaps no one else in the entirety of RML had. Just by crafting a grade eight pill, as long as One Step Beyond and Natural Talent activated simultaneously, it could become a grade ten pill!
Furthermore, if the pill also became influenced by the Blessing of Craft, there was no telling just what kind of otherworldly finished product Izroth would end up with.
Izroth pushed his newly acquired skill to the back of his mind and returned his attention to the space ahead of him.
He noticed that the intervals between the space shifting to a state of destruction and calm were shrinking with every occurrence. Even though Izroth was unable to determine an exact time to when the surrounding space would collapse, with the Gate of the Separati's current rate of decline, he estimated that it would not hold up for longer than half an hour.
'Since the first time I made contact with it and every time after, it has become increasingly volatile. Even half an hour may be a luxury.'
Izroth brandished the Scorched Inferno's Fang as he concentrated his gaze on the Gate of the Separati. He watched every small change in the space that surrounded the relic.
"This might be the only time I can attempt to open a pathway. There is no time to waste.'
Oooom....
A few minutes later, right as the the space around the Gate of the Separati reached its weakest point and somewhat stabilized, Izroth's figure flickered in and out of existence as he activated Flickering Steps.
In the blink of an eye, Izroth reached the relic. And, in the same motion, Izroth thrust the Scorched Inferno's Fang forward with incredible precision as he flooded the spear with a powerful surge of his Essence.
Simultaneously, a terrifying and domineering aura erupted from the tip of the Scorched Inferno's Fang. Just as the spear was about to clash with the Gate of the Separati, Izroth used the skill Reign of the Shattering Void.
In order to unlock the true potential of the skill Reign of the Shattering Void, it required one to be in a prolonged battle. However, the reason Izroth chose to activate it in such a situation was due to one of its passives, Shattering Void.
Thanks to Shattering Void, Izroth's attack would not only strike faster, but also gained the ability to temporarily disrupt all forms of shielding and barriers. This meant that, even if something attempted to obstruct his strike, he could overcome it.
Additionally, using his keen eyesight and his Spatial Awareness passive, Izroth was able to locate and target the weakest point in within the Gate of the Separati.
The moment Izroth's spear made contact with the Gate of the Separati, the surrounding space immediately began to show signs of destruction and became unbridled. However, almost instantly after the wave of destruction appeared, a mysterious pulse echoed from the Scorched Inferno's Fang that suppressed the spatial destruction and brought about order.
This was the effect of the Spatial Ebb and Flow ability that came from the Ultima Sygrix fused into the blade of the Scorched Inferno's Fang.
Craaaaaack...!
After Izroth managed to successfully restrain the chaotic space around the Gate of the Separati, a strange tearing sound could be heard coming from the relic as a long tear abruptly
materialized at its location.
Ooom! Ooom!
In less than half a breath, Izroth had forcibly opened a spatial passageway. However, it did not take long for him to see fractures forming throughout the Scorched Inferno's Fang. Along with the fractures, Izroth could actively feel the control he had over the destructive space slipping away as the Spatial Ebb and Flow became less effective with the deterioration of the
spear.
'If I had not poured my Essence into this spear to reinforce it, I'm afraid it would have already shattered to pieces. That being said, even after being reinforced with my Essence, it's still breaking
down much faster than I anticipated.'
Crack...!
As the Scorched Inferno's Fang buckled under the immense pressure, Izroth had yet to sense Empyrean or Selene. Even the once faint vague feeling he sensed through Soul Link was no longer there. Regardless, Izroth firmly stood his ground as veins could be seen protruding from his hands and arms while he fought to suppress the Gate of the Separati.
'At this rate-'
All of a sudden, the Scorched Inferno's Fang shattered into numerous pieces and fell apart. At the same time, the destructive space it was suppressing erupted and seemed to devour everything in its surroundings!
