Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family
Chapter 573: Focus on hearingChapter 573: Focus on hearing
The intense curvature of space due to the immense gravitational field of the black hole caused light itself to bend around its orbit!
The light beam curved perfectly towards Michael, hitting his [Absolute Unity Defense] for the third time in a row.
This interaction between two Aubilities was so unexpected that not even their original owners knew that this was possible.
It was Beau’s intelligence and her creativity that allowed this wonderful synergy of Aubilities. Even though she only spent a small amount of time with these powers, she was able to use them with the same mastery as their original owners.
Beau proved why she was 1st place in the Rising Six ranking!
She had solved the only weakness of the solid light. With the bending of the space, Michael wouldn’t be able to predict where it would go based on the direction of her arms.
I have to destroy those, he decided.
He quickly powered up another [Unity Gun], aiming it towards the black hole.
His finger burst out with a bright light, emitting a ray of Unity towards the black hole.
The immense gravitational field tried to swallow the beam towards its bottomless pit. However, the equally intense energy of Unity obliterated everything around the black hole, destroying the particles that kept it fed.
Without particles to consume, the black hole eventually collapsed onto itself.
But in that same moment, Beau used her cleaver and carved three more balls of air in front of her.
And with a single touch, each of them were converted into black holes as intense as the first one.
She grabbed all of them and threw them towards Michael.
He teleported out of the way, reappearing opposite them.
But this gave Beau enough time to shoot another pillar of solid light, once again aiming for the black hole she just threw.
The beam grazed past one, curving its trajectory perfectly to miss the second black hole just enough to once again let its intense gravitational field alter its course for a final time.
It shot towards Michael, hitting his [Absolute Unity Defense] again.
I can’t destroy those black holes fast enough. She’ll just create more while I power up my [Unity Gun].
He powered up another beam, this time, hitting the black hole that got his Drone captive.
The Unity annihilated the gravity field, causing the Drone to regain its freedom.
However, at the same moment this happened, Beau carved up more air balls from her surroundings to transform them into black holes.
She raised her cleaver knife and began dicing the air into very small air spheres, each one only as small as a grape.
She grabbed all of them by her right hand, transforming them all into even tinier black holes.
With her frilly pink dress twirling, she threw all of her mini black holes into the air, inundating the cage with gravitational fields.
Now, these black holes were too small to do any real damage to Michael. But that wasn’t the point. Beau just wanted more black holes for her pillar of light to curve into.
It’s even harder to predict where the shot is going now…
And just like he thought, Beau raised her hand again, pointing towards a random direction and shooting off a pillar of solid light.
The light zigzagged through the air, curving randomly through the starry collection of black holes inside the cage.
It shot towards Michael’s back, piercing a hole in his [Absolute Unity Defense] for a moment, before regenerating back up into full health.
I have to find a way to dodge those pillars of light. My defense can only last as long as there’s mana in the air.
His first thought was to have ChatJK4 to use the current physics model of the world to predict where the shot was going to go. However, the curvature of space was completely random and probably controlled by Beau herself, making it impossible to predict.
She knew her advantages more than anyone. She continued to fire off beams of solid light towards him, working on whittling down his defenses one shot at a time.
Meanwhile, he was unable to react to any of the shots at all. He would only feel it when his prismatic shield activated.
He and his Drone fired off shots of [Unity Gun] whenever they can to reduce the number of black holes in the area, but Beau would just create far more than he could destroy in the same amount of time.
At this point, he realized that he wasn’t going to avoid the pillar of light no matter what he did.
He needed something else.
Beau’s Diva was able to react to my [Unity Gun] before she could. Maybe my Diva could do that as well.
He stopped dodging and stayed in one place, surprising Beau.
Since he couldn’t dodge it anyway, it’s useless to spend energy on trying to escape it.
So, floating in the air, he crossed his legs and closed his eyes.
He was going to concentrate as much as he could to finally ’listen’ to what his Diva was trying to tell him.
“Did you give up?” Beau asked, shooting off another pillar of light, zigzagging its way towards Michael’s prismatic shield.
She was seeing signs of his defense starting to waver. She didn’t know what he was doing, but this was her chance to finally break through his shield.
Meanwhile, Michael blocked out anything from the outside world and just focused on his own thoughts.
Her Diva could move independently from her own… you can do it too, he said to his Diva.
But there was no answer.
Come on… how do I listen to you?
Still, no response.
She said listen from the heart… What is my heart saying?
But he could feel nothing but his own heartbeat.
Upon getting no indication that there even was a Diva he was talking to, he was getting a little bit impatient. After all, he could hear the sounds of Beau’s pillars chipping away at his Unity Shield at this very moment.
His first instinct was to open his eyes and try to dodge and fight her assault. He was tempted to break his concentration and defend.
Wait… maybe that’s the problem. I’ve been trying to solve this by myself, when I should have been listening to my instincts.
Michael decided to let go. He let himself fall deeper and deeper into his own concentration until he entered the void of his own consciousness.
In here, he saw nothing but an endless darkness around him. He couldn’t see anything. He couldn’t hear anything. And he couldn’t even feel his own body.
He was just a soul passing through the void.
He let go of his thoughts of communication with the Diva. All this time, he’d been trying to talk with it, forcing it to converse with him.
But he realized now that this was akin to trying to get someone to talk, while also talking over them and not giving them a chance to speak.
So now, he just let his mind wander. He wasn’t going to think.
“…”
And it was in that moment that a spark of instinct entered his mind.
