Chapter 580: Bickering
But it was at that moment that some people realized that the game still wasn’t over. All the players, including Michael, still weren’t being teleported out of the Pocket Dimension.
Finally, they looked towards Michael and saw that Beau still wasn’t eliminated from the game! She was still kneeling on the ground, with Michael standing just a few feet away from the five pillars of Soo.
“What is he doing? Why hasn’t he eliminated her already?”
“Wait… is he waiting for his teammates to get the keys for him?”
“He should have already won. He doesn’t need the keys.”
The fact that Michael was just standing next to the pillars without doing anything proved their guesses.
Many people couldn’t understand why he would do this.
Was he expecting his teammates to defeat Beau’s elite crew members?
Many were doubting if that was even possible. After all, the Pyramidic Cuisine was famous for having no weaknesses in their foundation.
Beau, their leader, was strong. The Maugnetics below her were strong. And even the normal fighters at the very bottom of their chain of command were capable fighters of their own.
It would be an unnecessary risk for Michael to count on his teammates to perform the same upset as him.
Many people even noticed that the cultivation of Michael’s demi-human crew members were, on average, one stage lower in cultivation.
Not to mention, Beau’s teammates were all equipped with even the best armors and Mithril Relics!
…
…
…
In the region filled with nothing but dunes of hot sand, one red-scaled Dragonborn was walking with a bored look on his face.
Zion stepped to the top of the mound of sand and looked around himself, squinting his eyes. But everywhere he looked, he couldn’t see a single sign of life anywhere around the desert region.
“AM I ALONE?!” he complained.
Although his sister Sheina told him that he should only focus on finding a key in the sands of the desert, he thought that that would be too boring and decided to explore the entirety of the desert to look for other players.
His plan was to eliminate every single person he saw, and hopefully find a key dangling on their waists.
But no matter how much he spent trudging through the hot sand, he couldn’t find anyone around him. He even reached the edges of the desert region itself, seeing the snowy mountain region right next to him.
He was starting to think he was the only person around.
And it was at that moment that he heard an unusual sound coming from behind him.
A sharp knife was tumbling towards his head at extremely fast speeds.
He inwardly scoffed and ducked to the side before turning around.
At the top of the dune, he saw a man wearing a chef’s apron.
Zion couldn’t help but break out into a smile as he finally saw an opponent for the first time in a while.
And he quickly noticed a dangling golden key tied around his chef’s apron.
A target has come to him!
“You… you’re the only one left,” the chef guy said to him.
“Ah, that must be why I can’t find anyone!” Zion realized. “But it’s good that you came to me or else I would have spent so much more time trying to find you.”
The chef guy looked at Zion with confusion and disbelief written on his face.
He had scoured the entire desert and found no one else but him, meaning that the other players were probably eliminated due to their leaders getting defeated on the other side of the Pocket Dimension.
“You’re not from the Crocodile Leather company… you’re not from Spice Vise… you’re from that Reborn company!” the chef realized.
“Yup! And the handsomest too!”
The chef was perplexed. “It’s only Beau against that Michael kid?”
He already had the key. And there was no doubt that his other teammates also had their keys. Beau should have ended the game by now and obtained all drops.
This could only mean that they were currently embroiled in an intense duel that prevented Beau from using her keys.
Of course, he had no doubt that Beau would eventually win. However, there was a bad feeling in the air. He couldn’t help but think that something happened to Beau.
“I’ll have to defeat you to ensure our lady Beau’s victory!” he exclaimed.
He extended his hand and telepathically reached towards the knife he threw in Zion’s direction.
It returned to his hand, showing off its glow as a Mithril Relic.
“Haha! You don’t know how long I’ve been waiting for this!” Zion said, cracking his knuckles together.
Zion squatted down and reached for his shadow, about to take out his gauntlets as well.
But all of a sudden, he heard a yell coming from behind him.
“ZION!!!”
Confused, Zion looked behind him and squinted his eyes. He realized that the sound wasn’t coming from anywhere in the desert, but it was coming from the snowy mountains right behind him instead!
On top of a ledge filled with icicles, there was a person who blended perfectly well with the snowy background.
Zion wouldn’t have even seen her if it weren’t for the red glare coming from her eyes.
It was none other than his sister, Sheina.
“SIS?! What are you doing here?!” he asked, a bit embarrassed.
Sheina put her hands on her waist and glared at Zion. “I’m here to make sure that you’re not slacking around. Have you been looking for those keys like I told you?”
Zion’s cheeks turned even more red than his scales. He was extremely embarrassed being scolded like this in front of other people.
“Sis! I’m busy here!” he said, not so subtly using his eyes to point at his chef opponent.
“Don’t change the subject, young man. I know you’ve been slacking off. I saw you wandering around the desert not even trying to find the keys. What if it was right underneath your feet, but you just won’t look for them?”
Zion quickly stomped his feet, having had enough of the lecture.
“Can’t you see I’m trying to, sis?! Look, he has a key, and I’ll get it once I defeat him.”
Sheina shook her head. “You wouldn’t have to if you had just searched for the key like I told you to.”
At this point, the chef guy was just awkwardly standing there, watching all of this unfold with confusion plastered across his face.
He didn’t know what was happening.
“Umm…sorry about this, sir chef. I’ll beat you in just a little bit, let me just talk to my sis,” said Zion, rubbing his hands together to apologize to him.
“Zion, don’t make me come down there,” Sheina warned.
This pissed Zion off, so he stuck out his tongue to tease her. “Meh! Meh! You can’t come down here! There’s a barrier that’s separating the regions!”
Sheina’s eyes glowed even redder, with her hands gesturing to get the arrow from his quiver.
“Get. The. Key.”
“That’s what I’m trying to do, but you keep interrupting me!” Zion lashed out.
Even though the chef didn’t know what they were talking about, he immediately picked up on the fact that seemed to think that they could get his key easily!
