“Huh? Instead of Sasuke, I’m the one fighting first?” Naruto mumbled, taken aback. But then, he quickly clenched his fists, looking confident.

“Naruto-kun, please be careful, and win,” Hinata encouraged him.

“You bet I will!” Naruto replied with a grin.

Lee then stepped forward, gently pushing Hinata aside. With a solemn expression, he said, “Naruto, Shira-kun is a Taijutsu genius. If you’re careless, you’ll lose, so don’t underestimate him.”

Naruto nodded seriously. “This is what I’ve been training for.”

Mika smiled and patted Naruto on the shoulder. “Win it for everyone, Naruto-kun. I’ll treat you to some Ichiraku Ramen afterward.”

One by one, all his friends offered advice and words of encouragement. Facing their expectations and concerns, Naruto grinned broadly and said, “Don’t worry, guys. I won’t embarrass the village. Remember, I’m going to become the greatest Hokage! I have to win this fight!”

Naruto possesses an arsenal of powerful techniques: ‘Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu,’ ‘Rasengan,’ ‘Pseudo Jinchuriki Mode,’ ‘Summoning Jutsu,’ ‘Senjutsu Mode,’ various Wind Style Jutsu, and more. His chakra reserves are practically limitless. Even among Jōnin-level ninjas, few can match the range of abilities Naruto holds at his disposal.

At the Arena

As the two contestants entered the arena one after the other, cheers erupted throughout the venue. The enthusiastic shouts from the stands made everyone on the field, including Naruto and Shira, feel both nervous and excited. Fighting in the presence of thousands of people, under such intense scrutiny was an entirely new experience for both of them.

Itachi glanced at the two competitors, briefly explained the rules, and confirmed that both sides were ready. Once everything was set, he signaled the start of the fight with a clear, “Begin!” and then quickly left the arena using the Body Flicker Jutsu.

As soon as Itachi departed, several Konoha Ninjas from the barrier division surrounded the arena and activated the Four Purple Flame Formation, isolating the battlefield to ensure that whatever happened within wouldn’t affect the audience.

This precaution wasn’t an overreaction arranged by the organizers.

Due to the battles that devastated much of the Forest of Death in the second phase, Itachi understood that many of the sixteen candidates who advanced to the third phase were either at the Elite Jōnin level or had even reached the Kage level. These contestants could easily unleash large-scale, destructive Jutsu capable of harming not only the spectators but also the Daimyo from various nations.

As a result, the organizers didn’t treat the final phase as a typical Chūnin Promotion Exam. Instead, they decided to deploy a defensive barrier—the same one used during the combat phase of the Godaime Hokage Election—to ensure the safety of the audience and the Daimyo of the five nations.

The rise of the ‘Four Purple Flame Formation’ separated the arena from the stands, creating two distinct worlds. Although the cheers and noise from the audience could still be heard, the pressure of the ‘outside world’ lessened for Naruto and Shira. In the arena, they focused solely on each other, everything else forgotten.

Shira extended his hand and asked, “Are you the Jinchuriki of the Nine-Tails?”

Naruto nodded, “Yes, I am Uzumaki Naruto!” He reached for the kunai pouch strapped to his thigh.

“I’ve heard you’re very strong. I hope you perform well today. Don’t let me down, Uzumaki Naruto-san!” Shira said as he took his stance, his chest slowly rising and falling. As he breathed in and out, the airflow around him seemed to grow denser, invigorating his muscles and filling his body with energy.

“Don’t worry, I will defeat you!” Naruto replied with a determined expression. Though he couldn’t directly ‘see’ or ‘sense’ the change in the airflow around Shira, he could tell something about his opponent had shifted. Without giving Shira a chance to act, Naruto quickly joined his hands together, forming his most practiced hand sign: ‘Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu!’

Poof! Poof! Poof! Poof! Poof! Poof! Poof! Poof! Poof!

With a series of white smoke bursts, dozens of Naruto clones instantly appeared in the arena.

Despite the sight of hundreds of Naruto’s shadow clones, Shira’s expression remained unchanged. “I’m going to take action!” he shouted, and with that, his body became enveloped in an owl-shaped Chakra. He charged toward the mass of clones, fingers outstretched, ready to engage in a one-against-hundreds battle.

Naruto wasn’t about to be left behind either as he or his Shadow Clones rushed toward the approaching Shira, letting out a war cry.

As the two sides clashed, fists and feet collided, kunai clashed with kunai, and sparks flew. White smoke occasionally burst into the air as Naruto’s shadow clones were dispelled.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Whenever Shira’s two-finger strikes hit Naruto’s Shadow Clones in the right spot—which was most of the time—the clones were instantly destroyed. His strikes blocked the Tenketsu of the Shadow Clones, causing them to vanish on the spot.

As the memories of the destroyed clones returned to Naruto, he was taken aback. He can use the same technique as Neji and Hinata!

The continuous roar echoed throughout the venue, leaving the audience in stunned silence.

Most of the spectators knew little about the six candidates participating in the final phase of the Joint Chūnin Promotion Exam. While they were aware of the participants’ identities and backgrounds, they had no idea of the true extent of these Genins’ power. They certainly didn’t expect the first battle to cause such a massive uproar!

” “This guy can really target the Tenketsu, huh?” Neji mumbled solemnly as he closely watched the fight between Naruto and Shira. Although he knew Shira from Sunagakure was capable of it, he was still surprised. Accurately targeting the Tenketsu is normally a near-impossible feat without the Byakugan. This showed just how advanced Shira’s aim and knowledge of physiology were.

Lee pumped his fists. “Shira-kun is amazing, isn’t he?”

Neji nodded slightly. “Hmm… but… Naruto still has a higher chance of winning.”

Kiyomi narrowed her eyes and added, “And he seems inexplicably faster than he was a month ago.”

Lee nodded proudly. “That’s because of the last month of training.” His expression then turned comically sad as he said, “Oh man, I wanted to be there too… I want to fight Naruto-kun and Shira-kun!”

Bang! Just as Lee said that, Guy smacked him on the head with a grin. “Don’t get upset, Lee. The flames of your youth are just beginning; there’s plenty of opportunity left for you.”

“Guy-Sensei!”

“Lee!”

“Guy-Sensei!”

“Lee!”

Meanwhile, both Neji and Kiyomi ignored the two and continued to watch the fight.

Iwagakure Waiting Room

Kurotsuchi frowned and remarked, “A pure taijutsu ninja facing one-versus-many tactics in which such a powerful ninjutsu is being used is at a big disadvantage. It looks like Sunagakure might lose to Konoha this time.”

Deidara, resting his chin on one hand, smiled casually. “That brat is using so many Shadow Clones and on top of that so many Rasengan… If I recall correctly, Rasengan is a Rank-S Jutsu, right? Just how much chakra does he have?!”

Kitsuchi explained, “He’s Konoha’s Jinchuriki of the Nine-Tails, and on top of that, an Uzumaki. Chakra isn’t a problem for him.”

Suzumebachi asked, “But even so, doesn’t he need to reserve chakra to keep the Tailed Beast under control? What if the Nine-Tails breaks free?”

“That’s the thing… it seems he’s gained some control over the Tailed Beast,” Kitsuchi replied, recalling the information he had learned about Uzumaki Naruto.

“Eh? Really?” Deidara, Kurotsuchi, and Suzumebachi mumbled in shock.

Darui leaned against the guardrail, his eyes not focused on the ongoing battle in the field but instead drifting intentionally or unintentionally toward the Amegakure waiting room, where Raijin of Amegakure was seated.
