Chapter 1098: Hyuga Neji vs Atsui IIAt the VIP stands
Watching the fire dragon disintegrate and disappear, the Kages were taken aback.
“The jutsu… disappeared?” Pakura mumbled, stunned. She had never seen anything like this before. Glancing at ‘Kuroto,’ she couldn’t help but wonder what his disciple, Hyuga Neji, had done by striking the ninjutsu.
It wasn’t unheard of for ninjutsu to be neutralized—after all, the Kages had seen Uzumaki Nagato of the Akatsuki absorb jutsu. But this was different. Pakura could tell that what happened in the arena wasn’t absorption. It was something else. It was as if the ninjutsu had… disintegrated.
The Mizukage was just as surprised, but he stayed quiet. In his mind, it wasn’t shocking for Hyuga Neji—Yama’s disciple, the leader of Amatsukami—to have such incredible techniques.
Raikage, however, wasn’t as calm. Stunned, he turned to ‘Kuroto.’ “Hokage, what’s going on? How did that boy from the Hyuga Clan make the ninjutsu used by the Genin from my village disappear?”
‘Kuroto’ shrugged and answered, “It’s a Gentle Fist technique that allows us Hyugas to break the core of ninjutsu, destroying the shape and form of the ninjutsu. This causes the jutsu to disintegrate back into pure chakra, which simply disperses into the surroundings.”
“Disintegrate ninjutsu? Did the Hyuga Clan always have such a technique?” Raikage asked with a frown. He had been the Raikage for over a decade, and a shinobi for even longer, but had never heard of the Hyuga Clan possessing such an ability.
‘Kuroto’ chuckled. “What do you think?” he replied, offering no further explanation.
Raikage scowled, clearly dissatisfied, and snorted. He wanted more information, but it was obvious that ‘Kuroto’ wasn’t going to give it to him.Tsuchikage Ōnoki stroked his beard, murmuring to himself, “Hyuga Neji seems to have mastered a very troublesome technique.” And he couldn’t help but think to himself, “If this technique is already popularized among the Hyugas, or it becomes popularized, that would make the Hyugas far more troublesome than the Uchihas.”
To disintegrate ninjutsu like that… didn’t it make most jutsu useless against the Hyuga Clan? Since almost all shinobi rely on ninjutsu in some form, this would make the Hyuga even more difficult to deal with. Battling them in taijutsu was already challenging enough, with their ability to block Tenketsu. Now, the ability to disintegrate ninjutsu as well would leave most enemies feeling utterly helpless.
Unlike the Hyugas, the Uchiha with their Sharingan can only copy ninjutsu. Of course, the Sharingan has other abilities, but when it comes to copying ninjutsu, there are limitations—such as the user’s chakra nature. However, this Hyuga technique of disintegrating ninjutsu is far more troublesome, as it doesn’t seem to rely on chakra nature at all.
If Ōnoki’s suspicions are correct—and he believes they are—this technique might not even have high chakra requirements. That would make it even more efficient and dangerous for enemies.
Realizing this, Ōnoki couldn’t help but glance at ‘Kuroto,’ or rather, at the Hokage himself, thinking, ‘Konohagakure… it’s becoming more and more powerful!’
…
The members of the Hyuga Clan were just as surprised by the technique Neji used to disintegrate Atsui’s ninjutsu. Some of them couldn’t help but murmur among themselves.
“What did Neji-kun do?”
“Did the ninjutsu disappear?”
“How did it just vanish like that?”
“I saw it with my Byakugan! Neji-kun struck the ninjutsu as if he were targeting an enemy’s tenketsu, and after those strikes, the ninjutsu disintegrated!”
“Huh? Are you serious?”
“Patriarch, is something like that even possible?”
Hiashi was at a loss for words. “I…” he began, but he had no answer. Disintegrating ninjutsu using Gentle Fist? He had never heard of such a thing.
Confused and taken aback, Hiashi turned to his brother, Hizashi, for an explanation. But to his surprise, Hizashi wore the same bewildered expression, clearly just as clueless.
Realizing that no one in the Hyuga Clan seemed to understand what had happened, Hiashi’s gaze shifted to the VIP stands, focusing on ‘Kuroto.’ He wondered, ‘Did you create this technique, Kuroto-kun?’
Since Neji had used the technique, he must have been taught by someone, and in Hiashi’s mind, Kuroto seemed like the only person capable of doing so.
Regardless, Hiashi quickly grasped the potential of the technique. ‘If this technique is popularized within the Clan, we could rise again and no longer worry about being inferior to the Uchiha!’
While the technique Neji used might not be enough to defeat the Uchiha’s Mangekyō Sharingan, it was still an incredibly powerful ability with immense potential. It would undoubtedly strengthen the Hyuga Clan as a whole. Hiashi, eager to elevate the clan’s reputation and ensure they no longer stood in the shadow of the Uchiha, felt a growing desire to acquire this technique. ‘I’ll need to speak with Kuroto-kun about this!’ he resolved.

Amegakure’s Waiting Room
Watching the fire dragon disintegrate, Raijin’s lips under his mask curved into a smile as he murmured, “So, Neji has grasped that technique to some extent…” He could tell that Neji hadn’t yet fully mastered the art of disintegrating ninjutsu, but he was making significant progress.
Satisfied with Neji’s development, Raijin glanced at the Anbu ninja standing beside ‘Kuroto,’ thinking to himself, ‘You’ve done great work, Koshinata.’
The one who taught Neji this technique was none other than Koshinata Mukai, who unknown to the Hyuga Clan, possessed a single Byakugan.
Because Mukai wasn’t part of the Hyuga Clan, he didn’t follow the traditional path of its members. Instead, he developed several unique techniques over the years, including the ninjutsu disintegration technique—his greatest achievement.
It was this technique that Mukai passed down to Neji at Kuroto’s request.
In fact, Mukai was initially reluctant to teach Neji the technique—not because he wanted to keep it secret and keep it to himself, but because he didn’t want to get involved with the Hyuga Clan. If word got out that he possessed a Byakugan in his left eye, it would bring him a lot of unwanted trouble. Mukai preferred to stay anonymous and avoid any complications.
However, Mukai owed Kuroto several favors, especially since Kuroto had essentially saved Mukai’s son’s life. Because of this debt, Mukai agreed to teach Neji the technique at Kuroto’s request, on the condition that his identity remain hidden. He still didn’t want any ties to the Hyuga Clan, fearing the trouble it might bring to him–as he might be branded with the Cage Bird Curse Seal–and his family—his wife and children being ordinary civilians wouldn’t be treated well within the Hyuga Clan. Mukai didn’t want to disrupt their peaceful lives by getting involved with the Hyugas.
Kuroto had no issue with this condition, and so Mukai agreed to pass down the technique. And now, here we are.
…
At the Arena
While the Kages and other prominent ninjas were still processing the implications of Neji’s technique, Atsui began to recover from his shock. Mumbling to himself, “So, ninjutsu is useless?” he remained surprisingly calm. Instead of panicking, he took a deep breath and said, “If that’s the case… then I’ll have to use my strongest technique. That should work against you.”
With newfound resolve, Atsui’s gaze sharpened as he unsheathed his shinobi sword and pointed it at Neji. “I’m going to use my Hot-Spirited Mode now!” he declared. In an instant, starting from his sword, his entire body became enveloped in scorching flames. “Fire Style: Fire Chakra Mode!”
Surprisingly, the fire didn’t burn Atsui’s hair, skin, or clothes but danced wildly around him, enveloping his entire form.
Watching Atsui cloaked in flames and feeling the intense heat radiating from his body, Neji narrowed his eyes. ‘Fire Chakra Mode?’ He hadn’t heard of such a technique. Just from the heat alone, Neji realized that most people wouldn’t even be able to approach Atsui, let alone fight him—anyone who tried would likely be burned to ash.
Even so, Neji remained unfazed. The dangers of Atsui’s Fire Chakra Mode didn’t bother him. He was confident he wouldn’t be defeated, especially since he had a trump card of his own—a Rank-S Nin-Taijutsu technique.
‘Although I haven’t completely mastered it… using it to defeat you shouldn’t be a problem,’ Neji thought. With that, he clapped his hands together as chakra flared from his body, wrapping around him in the form of a chakra cloak. ‘Byakugan Chakra Mode!’
