SORCERER: I WANT TO BE AN ACADEMIC PRODIGY
Chapter 461 - 460: Anxious HeartChapter 461: Chapter 460: Anxious Heart
“Leaving it to chance was exactly what they did, as the seven people didn’t have much time left—only the last half-day.”
Four arcane wizards tightly guarded nearby, providing support for them—a level of treatment not everyone received.
Even though it felt highly inefficient, Ivan did not slack in the slightest. He kept dropping Spirit Crystals, trying to explore as many locations, directions, and areas as possible.
Unfortunately, everything seemed futile.
It was unclear how much time had passed when Tanaya suddenly exclaimed, catching everyone’s attention in the small space.
“Tanaya, hurry, break it off!”
…
Hotter’s voice followed soon after.
Ivan was jolted awake; the Spirit Crystal he was handling shattered.
He belatedly realized that he had fallen into a strange restlessness, his mood becoming very anxious and a bit impatient, somewhat underestimating himself, always feeling that all this effort might be in vain in the end.
“The Star Realm River is magnificent and mysterious, the origin of all life forms. Although your exploration wears down your spiritual power, it also hones it in an extraordinarily unique way, which is beneficial for your future cultivation,” Doradoli Chairman explained in a timely manner.
So that’s how it was!
Ivan and the others pondered. Sorcerers always had their own motives for doing anything; spending half a day just to try their luck indeed seemed a bit unreasonable.
Now they realized that this arrangement was indeed well-intentioned.
Ivan noticed the situation on the side. Tanaya’s face was noticeably paler than the others, indicating that she had to endure much more.
Considering her reaction during the previous encounter with the malevolent entity, it seemed that attack had left her with severe trauma, which had not yet healed.
‘Definitely not just a severe injury. Even after treatment, it would leave terrifying sequelae, severely impacting her advancement to Level 4.’
‘Hotter once said she was ruined, and his words were not unfounded.’
Seeing Tanaya in this state, Ivan felt a pang of empathy.
He thought back to when he was attacked by the elemental lord during the Storm Ravine incident. If Chairman Hardy had not been with him on the Cloud Shuttle, the consequences could have been even grimmer.
Either death or a fate worse than death.
With this in mind, his desire to advance to Level 4 grew more urgent. Only by becoming an arcane wizard could he master his own fate and fearlessly face all tricks and stratagems.
Ivan took a deep breath and then formed another Spirit Crystal and threw it into the Star Realm River, leaving it to be erased by the dark currents of the space.
Soon, the Spirit Crystal was obliterated.
Another crystal formed and was cast towards the Star Realm Gate.
Obliterated.
Cast again.
——
Time swiftly passed, and Ivan mechanically repeated the same actions, trying his best to maintain calm and composure.
The others did the same, including Tanaya. She did not shrink back.
After persuasion from Hotter, Tanaya no longer pretended to be strong. Whenever she couldn’t maintain her composure, she would stop to adjust for a while. After regaining stability, she continued with deploying the Spirit Crystals, balancing effort with rest.
However, the group of Level 3 Sorcerers didn’t achieve anything until night fell.
“It seems like there’s something.” Long after nightfall, Wizard Morris spoke in a somewhat uncertain tone.
“Wizard Morris, either there is something or there isn’t—what do you mean by ‘it seems like’?” Doradoli Chairman said irritably.
“There is indeed something—it’s just a stone,” Morris scratched his head.
“That’s not just any stone. Hold it steady; don’t falter at the critical moment.” Doradoli Chairman had already approached him, placing one of his hands on the Crystal Ball.
Just a few seconds were all it took for him to drag a smooth stone with a diameter of two meters out of the Star Realm Gate and skillfully landed it on the ground beside him.
“Nice find, this is an intermediate purity Star Realm Stone, quite a bit is consumed every time the Star Realm Gate is activated,” he explained with a smile.
“Hehe, looks like my luck isn’t bad,” Morris glanced at the others somewhat smugly, this being his only find since noon.
“It’s of no use to you, hand it over to the guild.”
With a wave of the hand, the Doradoli Chairman whisked the item into his possession.
Morris was dumbstruck; he had barely gotten a good look at it before it suddenly disappeared.
Regarding the Doradoli Chairman, he felt a genuine fear in his heart and could only stammeringly look at the chairman, hoping the latter would understand his meaning. Unfortunately, the chairman took no notice of him.
The others didn’t pay any attention to him either; each of them was psyching up to try and find something in these last few hours.
At this moment, Ivan had figured out quite a few things and, considering the limited time left, he decided to make one last push, lest he ended the whole busy day with nothing.
The subsequent crystalline forms didn’t rush headlong but instead took advantage of the momentum, speeding toward the distance along the dark currents of space.
Success would yield a broader space for exploration, while failure would result in an immediate loss of a Spirit Power Crystal.
As before, it was failure after failure, more swiftly than before, and his expression visibly wearied.
“Phew—”
A moment later, Ivan, tired, took a long sigh and headed not far behind to recuperate while holding the Crystal Ball. This was the first time he needed to do so, having previously relied on his recovery capabilities.
Seeing this, the Arcane Wizards did not speak up to stop him.
Others took notice and quickly guessed the reasons. Their eyes lit up, and they all began to struggle fiercely in the last moments to truly gamble on their luck.
“Once more!”
Having recovered, Ivan sprung up from the ground and strode over to the Star Realm Gate to resume his efforts.
He had earlier leveraged the momentum of the spatial currents to launch Spirit Power Crystals far, and it wasn’t all for naught; there were two times he successfully reached farther locations, though his perception was greatly blurred.
Despite the vastness of the star river, until the crystalline form was obliterated, he ultimately came up empty-handed, facing failure once again.
This undoubtedly invigorated him.
“Sorcerer Ivan, be moderate in your efforts, don’t harm your foundation,” reminded Hotter, seeing him eager to try again.
“I understand,” Ivan nodded seriously, his mind not clouded by desperation.
Shortly after, a new Spirit Power Crystal passed through the Crystal Ball and into the Star Realm River via the Star Realm Gate. The crystal flowed with the currents for a couple of seconds, looking for an opportunity to enter a vigorous dark space current, using it to reach even farther.
In less than three seconds, the Spirit Power Crystal was obliterated.
He was not at all surprised by this and promptly launched another new crystal.
The new crystal was launched quickly, and feedback was rapid; his experience in throwing was growing bit by bit.
“Any more Star Realm creatures?”
“How could we not—never mind, it’s too much trouble now. It’s a bit inappropriate,” someone responded.
“There’s a stone.”
“I got this, not bad, not bad. You guys keep at it.”
“——”
The more aggressive exploration method, indeed, started to show higher results.
Or perhaps their luck kicked in, as after some intervals, someone would speak, uncovering different items worthy of quickly being dragged back to the Star Realm Gate.
Those that required major efforts were considered and pragmatically abandoned after some thought.
The Star Realm creatures were not weak, and weren’t ones to simply enter the Star Realm Gate on their own. Handling them required a great deal of energy and sometimes wasn’t worth the effort.
Ivan saw other people making some gains, while nothing changed under his own watch. Yet, he wasn’t irritated; he had given his all. There was nothing he could do if luck wasn’t on his side.
