SORCERER: I WANT TO BE AN ACADEMIC PRODIGY
Chapter 468 - 467 Final StrategyChapter 468: Chapter 467 Final Strategy
Ivan rolled his eyes.
“Of course you think anywhere will do, since you don’t have to stick your neck out.”
Once the plan starts, he would be the one lugging around two big pots, one attached to another even bigger, black pot—turning himself into a professional scapegoat.
“Sorcerer Ivan, your opinion?” Hotter said.
“The plan is so perfect, I’m sure the ‘grand initiative’ you’ve prepared is also ready. You can report it in my name to Lord Califf, and then you can talk about the inheritance of the Star Ancestors to postpone or even annul the marriage contract. You may also choose to tell the plain truth.
Given that Lord’s fondness for you, he will likely intervene on your behalf to silence any discordant voices.”
…
Ivan nodded his head and shared his understanding, which could be described as a ‘thorough plan.’
Now it was the others’ turn to roll their eyes. If they had such an initiative, they wouldn’t need to seek help from others.
“Why don’t you give it a try, Ivan? You can do it,” Morris urged, raring to go.
“You go if you’re so capable.”
“It’s not the same. I don’t have your talent, making new initiatives as easy as eating and drinking. Just think—Black Magic Wind Fire Array, Black Demon Fire Silk Array, Pure White Eyes, Chaotic Space Pearl, you must have many more great things up your sleeve.”
Morris was vehement in his assertion.
His words were met with approval from the others, each nodding and echoing his sentiment, all expectantly looking at a certain sorcerer.
Ivan remained unmoved.
“Alright, let’s think of something more practical. It’s really unfair to pressure Sorcerer Ivan like this. Califf is such an important person, it won’t be easy to impress him,” Hotter said helplessly, attempting to mediate.
“The solution could be very simple. Where are we? The Sky Flow Valley. The core issue of Sky Flow Valley is also the prime concern of the School of Space—the teleportation array. A teleportation array would impress anyone in the sorcerer world,” Morris suggested.
“The teleportation array is of great strategic significance and has broad prospects. It would indeed impress Lord Califf,” Hotter agreed.
“This makes sense,” Ivan confirmed.
The importance of the teleportation array needed no affirmation; this was a self-evident truth.
The problem was, how could they create a teleportation array when many Arcane Wizards and sorcerers of the Void King were at a loss? And how could they, just the five of them, achieve results in a short amount of time?
The suggestion was practically the same as saying nothing.
“Hehe, I was just throwing out ideas. Take it as a bit of fun,”
Morris, the first to back down, said, “As for how to proceed, that’s up to you. Once you decide, point me in the direction; I’ll assist emphatically, no ambiguity about it.”
“Morris is right. Opting for the teleportation array as a problem to solve is unwise.”
“That’s sensible.”
Seeing the two big shots echo like yes-men, a numb feeling crept over Morris, who also became secretly vigilant. Could they be plotting against him? He needed to be careful.
It wasn’t that they truly wished to trap Morris. After all, with his limited research capabilities, even if they wanted to undermine him, they wouldn’t even know where to begin.
They were earnestly contemplating how to solve the problem. No matter how they approached it, coming up with an initiative to impress the King of the Long Sky was no mean feat. Indeed, it was a very thorny challenge.
Next to them, Tanaya looked hesitant, on the verge of speaking but stopping short.
“Tanaya, speak your mind, we must hurry,” Hotter noted and couldn’t help but say.
“Go on; we have to solve the problem,” Ivan, who also noticed, encouraged, realizing that her hesitation was directed at him.
“Sorcerer Ivan, you previously mentioned the Prophet’s Power. Although the prediction secret technique you used wasn’t very ideal and the process was quite vague, the results pointed to something positive. That is to say, your new initiative ultimately impressed the Wind Ancestor,” Tanaya stated earnestly.
“Really?” a glint of excitement flashed in Hotter’s eyes.
“I wouldn’t speak carelessly about something that affects the rest of mine and Mara’s lives,” Tanaya emphasized with gravity in her tone.
“This should be easy then. Ivan, make your own decision about how to proceed. We’ll assist from the side, providing whatever you need. From this moment, we will follow your commands,” Hotter said.
Morris was about to agree when he noticed Ivan’s lack of enthusiasm; he promptly swallowed his words, not wanting to make trouble for himself.
“Sorcerer Ivan, please share any concerns you have,” Tanaya said.
“Right, feel free to speak your mind,” Hotter seconded.
“The predictive outcome only shows a possibility, no one can guarantee it’s one hundred percent correct, can they?” After a pause, Ivan finally spoke.
“It’s better to have a possibility than none at all,” Tanaya said.
“I shall give it a try.” Meeting her eyes full of hope, Ivan thought of the benefits he had gained from the Five Leaves Spear in the past, sighed inwardly, and finally relented. “But I make no guarantees.”
“Just do your best. If it doesn’t work out, it means it was meant to be,” Tanaya’s lifted heart finally settled back down.
Hotter could add no more regarding their decision, as such matters truly didn’t come with a hundred percent certainty. Before he could relax, however, he saw Ivan looking towards him and immediately had a bad premonition.
“Additionally, we must have a backup plan.”
“Tell me.”
“After all, with a young Arcane Wizard present, not utilizing him would be a waste of resources, in fact, we could——”
Having said this much, Sorcerer Ivan certainly wasn’t going to be polite and straightforwardly put forward the plan he had thought of.
The core of the plan was singular: have Hotter make a scene. Whether it was for delaying time for research or as a last resort if all else failed, along with a feasible offer of a Level 6 legacy as an additional bargaining chip, it was equally an effective method.
The only downside was that Hotter had to go all out and might suffer somewhat, losing a bit of face.
As for the King of the Long Sky, he surely wouldn’t banish Hotter, an Arcane Wizard, to an alien realm over passionate love between a man and a woman.
‘Brilliant!’
‘This way, no matter what the research outcome is, Sorcerer Ivan will have extracted himself from the situation, and Tanaya’s issue is highly likely to be resolved, with only poor old Hotter falling into a pit.’
Seeing the two pull each other into the water, Morris’s face showed a trembling fear, yet his heart burst with delight.
He secretly admired, thankful he did not possess the talent and strength to shoulder these burdens. Otherwise, with the cunning of these two, they would certainly join forces to use him to plug the gap.
Morris was overjoyed, but Hotter, standing by, was torn inside.
“Hotter, there’s no need to force yourself.”
“I have agreed, this really is a good method, Tanaya, you needn’t overthink it, I’ve always regarded you as a sister,” he said.
Looking at Tanaya, whose expression faintly revealed weariness, Hotter thought of his past self and how Tanaya’s trouble had become a means of redemption and guidance for him, along with his own guilt, and he gritted his teeth in agreement to this backup plan.
The reason he agreed also involved another factor: to relieve Ivan of future worries, making it easier to proceed with the research.
“Thank you, truly. Thank you both for being willing to lend a hand.”
“Thank you, thank you.”
Seeing this, Tanaya and Mara repeatedly expressed their gratitude.
With that, the final strategy was set. Plan one and plan two—covering every base—next was to perfect the details of the plan.
The key decisions still had to be made by Sorcerer Ivan alone.
He sorted through each option, contemplating again and again.
He found that there were not many research topics he could confidently present, roughly three: one was the advancement of sorcerers, the second was activating a ‘Tower of Wisdom Spirit,’ and the third was the aspect of space.
From any of these angles, as long as the research was sufficiently in-depth, it should catch the eye of the King of the Long Sky.
But research was no easy task in any of these areas.
Take ‘sorcerer advancement,’ for example. Addressing the transition from Level 1 to Level 2 might not be enough; ideally, it’d be better to unlock the secrets of advancing from Level 2 to Level 3, truly nurturing a core force for the sorcerer world.
However, the issue of advancement involved too many factors, and he had no confidence in resolving the transition from Level 1 to Level 2, let alone Level 2 to Level 3.
As for the second area of study, his confidence was even less.
He had once received the ‘Activation Technique’ from Hotter, which was used to animate magic puppets and statues, and had entertained the thought, could an entire sorcerer tower be activated?
This idea had always been on his mind, but he had never embarked on any research, making recent breakthroughs akin to finding a needle in a haystack.
Space, as Morris had mentioned earlier, was equally hopeful yet uncertain.
After much contemplation, Sorcerer Ivan still couldn’t make up his mind.
“Sorcerer Ivan, we believe in you.”
As the others quietly discussed details and saw him looking over, Hotter couldn’t help but stress, with others nodding in agreement.
“I know, there are some things I need to consult with you about.”
“You say, we will spare no words.”
Sorcerer Ivan knew well that even the best-laid plans needed to be grounded in reality. Perhaps these people had some breakthrough resources or secret techniques in their hands, which could save time and effort.
The others, of course, let him inquire at his leisure.
Afterward, Sorcerer Ivan didn’t mention any specific research topics but gleaned information from various aspects, striving to be well-informed. The effort left him slightly disappointed.
“I’ve decided; we will research the teleportation array.”
After further thought, Sorcerer Ivan straightforwardly announced.
As soon as his words fell, the parlor once again descended into a brief silence, and Hotter and the others exchanged glances before quickly verbalizing their approval.
“Very well, it’s decided then, gladly so. Once I refine the specific plan, I’ll notify you of the next steps.”
“Sure, focus on refining. Your research is what’s most important; everything else must take a backseat.”
“Rest assured, since I have agreed, I will certainly give it my all.”
From this point, the overall outline of the plan was set. The rest shouldn’t be rushed lest haste leads to mistakes. It’d be best to return home, to mull over and digest the plans discussed previously.
Hotter and the others left the second floor of the Round Tower.
In truth, there was an unspoken worry in everyone’s heart regarding Tanaya’s betrothal: whether it was sanctioned by the King of the Long Sky, a thought none of them wished to delve into too deeply.
Thus, Hotter was right; innovative achievements were indeed crucial.
