SORCERER: I WANT TO BE AN ACADEMIC PRODIGY
Chapter 495 - 493: Mixed Feelings of Joy and SorrowChapter 495: Chapter 493: Mixed Feelings of Joy and Sorrow
“What an exceptional Truth Meditation Room, as soon as I came in, my thoughts became clearer.”
Ivan arrived at one of the top-floor meditation rooms, the most important one, and was surprised to find an unusual delight inside.
The entire room was enveloped in a special force field, similar to the feeling of being enhanced by the Small Light of Wisdom, but not as comprehensive, with the specific effect being about one-third as potent.
This force field was known as ‘Truth’s Radiance’.
Unlike all other Lights of Wisdom, Truth’s Radiance permanently existed, permanently available for the master of Golden Rock Tower to use. There was also an explicit rule here, prohibiting the use of this room by anyone other than oneself and forbidding revealing even a single word about it to the outside world.
“Without a doubt, this is a meditation room that any sorcerer would dream of.”
…
Having seen the world, he sighed with emotion and then began to follow Golden Rock Tower’s myriad regulations, protecting areas that required protection and absolutely forbidding access to restricted areas, quickly managing everything in order.
As for bigger changes, given that he would soon leave Truth City, he didn’t make too many modifications.
Other issues could wait until they were needed in the future.
Regardless, he now had a foothold in the heart of the sorcerer world, located on the much-envied Peak of Truth, overlooking most of Truth City.
It was a different feeling, looking down on Truth City from someone else’s domain compared to one’s own.
“I still understand too little, having regarded the Grand Scholar position as nothing more than an ordinary counselor ever since my appointment. Little did I know, the East Capital’s Grand Scholar is actually an advisor to the City Lord, able to offer suggestions to the Lord.
In that case, I, as the Grand Scholar of East Capital, have been somewhat negligent.
Right, now that I’m here, perhaps I should pay a visit to Lady Philomena?”
Standing by a window in Golden Rock Tower, Ivan couldn’t help but reflect on his misunderstanding of the Grand Scholar position.
Indeed, he couldn’t entirely blame himself for this, as no one had told him about it, and with his constant busyness, he hadn’t paid much attention to it until coming to Truth City and learning the truth.
Considering the prestigious status of the Grand Scholar position, both morally and rationally, he ought to take some time to visit the City Lord Philomena.
Of course, this would definitely have to be when Lady Philomena had time to see him.
After asking Mark, Ivan learned that Lady Philomena was in the Arcane Court’s 9th Sky Street. He immediately sent a message to greet her but did not receive any reply from the City Lord.
He didn’t mind this, as most Arcane Wizards weren’t as idle as Hotter, and the other Arcane members were mostly busy with important matters.
Speaking of Hotter, he actually returned to Truth City as well, but he traveled back on his own airship. His ‘Thunder Wolf’ was evidently not as fast as the Cloud Shuttle, so he probably hadn’t arrived yet.
It’s worth mentioning that Hotter’s Golden Rock Tower was also in the Grand Scholar Courtyard, precisely at 3rd Sky Street, opposite to 7th Sky Street.
“Slower than President Hardy’s Cloud Shuttle and trailing behind in the dust, Hotter must be feeling quite frustrated, hehe.”
Ivan chuckled to himself.
After thinking for a moment, he sent messages to Hotter and others, notifying some acquaintances of his new address.
As time ticked by, the first to arrive were naturally Locke, who had been eagerly waiting, and Angus, Sakri, and others who accompanied him.
After a brief tour, they all expressed their envy.
However, Angus and the others were well aware of their place, knowing without a significant contribution to the sorcerer world, one that could propel the history of sorcerers forward, it would be tough to be nominated as a Grand Scholar.
After a while, Angus and the others left to wait for President Hardy on the Cloud Shuttle, and Locke was sent back by Ivan.
The second wave of visitors was Tanaya and Gerry.
Upon seeing each other, Tanaya’s face revealed an indescribable smile, giving Ivan a sudden bad feeling that this guy might actually screw him over.
“Seeing how relaxed you are, it seems like the issue has been resolved?” He still welcomed the two into his sorcerer tower.
“Mm-hm, the Wind Ancestor has already confirmed it; you were right, the Life Path really has helped me to escape my misery. Please allow me to express my thanks to you once again, Sorcerer Ivan.”
Entering the reception room at the top floor, Tanaya gave him a deep bow right away, her attitude extremely sincere.
“Alright, I accept your thanks.” Ivan wisely did not inquire how exactly the King of the Long Sky had confirmed it out of the blue. “What about the other matter? I recall that wasn’t your primary concern.”
“That’s been resolved too,” Tanaya replied, revealing the same strange smile as before.
“That’s good to hear, all my efforts on your behalf weren’t in vain then.” Ivan nodded.
“Aren’t you going to ask how it was resolved?” Tanaya pressed, looking at him intently.
“That’s your private affair, it doesn’t concern me.”
“No, it has a lot to do with you. I should state upfront, this proposal wasn’t my idea, but decreed by the Wind Ancestor. I can assure you of that in the name of the Fitzgerald family.”
Hearing her words and the intense gaze coupled with the laughter and guarantee, Ivan felt an even stronger ominous premonition.
“I knew I was being set up by you,” Ivan forced out through clenched teeth.
“No, this is decreed by the Wind Ancestor, who has chosen me as your fiancée. No engagement necessary; the Wind Ancestor will find an opportunity to announce it to the public and will personally take care of any pressure from both the Fitzgerald and Gardner families,” Tanaya said, trying to suppress her laughter.
Sure enough, this woman was just trouble incarnate.
He believed her words to be true, but no matter how fantastical the story, it must have originated from Tanaya, otherwise, why would the attention of the King of the Long Sky fall on him?
As things were coming to a head, Ivan still felt very unhappy and didn’t hide it, his face clouded over.
Gerry was also in the reception room at this time, evidently hearing about the change in marital status for the first time. She examined the two, though she didn’t voice any opinion.
“Sorcerer Ivan, you aren’t thinking of how to trip me up now, are you?” asked Tanaya.
“Perhaps not, but rest easy, anything I’ve promised you, I won’t go back on. However, whether you can obtain your inheritance in the underworld is up to your own abilities, and I make no guarantees there.”
“I knew you’d be petty.”
Ivan was too lazy to argue further and turned to sit down in the main seat with a thud.
He had tried his best to help, offering everything he could, and thought that he’d repaid the favor he received from the Five Leaves Spear. Yet she had still managed to accomplish exactly what he was expressly opposed to.
Who exactly was being petty?
At this point, he was already being quite rational by not simply showing her the door.
“Sorcerer Ivan, please hear me out.”
“Speak.”
“In the future, I won’t insist on being your betrothed, but I will consider you an extension of my own path in witchcraft and will fully support your ascension to the peak of sorcery. This resolve will never waver.”
“What do you mean?”
“There’s no need to understand right now. I have excellent news for you. The Wind Ancestor once bestowed a bag of Truth Stones, a total of one hundred. I had previously given ten to Spark, but I’ve decided to give you the remaining ninety to aid you in ascending to become an Arcane Wizard.”
Whether he understood or not, Tanaya proceeded to explain about the Truth Stones and detailed their effects.
Upon hearing this, Ivan immediately showed astonishment.
He was well aware of the magic marrow stones, which were a resource from a super large magic stone mine; above the high-grade magic stones were magic marrow stones, but they were exceedingly rare. And these Truth Stones were actually crafted using high-grade magic marrow stones as one of the materials.
But the most important thing was that these Truth Stones could increase the odds of advancing to an Arcane Wizard, something utterly unheard of.
