Chapter 3438: The Wisdom Domain
The black energy converter users essentially had the same level of strength as Spirit Ancestors, and that was not even mentioning the members of the Scourge Occupation, the soldiers of the Tianyuan Army, and the mechas.
Although no one actually succeeded in infiltrating Boundless, what people did witness during their attempts to sneak in was still enough to baffle the outside world. The stories were all so inconsistent, but if they were pieced together, a terrifying picture emerged.
The Grandverse Manor became a monstrous entity that had become deeply entrenched in the Spirit Nidus in many people’s eyes.
“Huh? He’s here too,” Old Tao commented in surprise.
Lu Yin casually tossed an arrogant man off the battleship. The man had believed himself to be highly talented. “Who?”
“Young Master Yu. The ‘Foolish’ in his name is literal.”[1]
Lu Yin arched a brow. “A nickname?”
Old Tao nodded, which caused Lu Yin to chuckle. “An interesting personality.”
Old Tao’s expression turned serious. “Young Master Yu is from the Wisdom Domain. You must have heard of that place, Third Boss.”
Lu Yin’s eyes flickered. The Wisdom Domain? This had just become very interesting.
The Wisdom Domain was one of the Spirit Nidus’s thirty-six domains, but unlike places with impressive names like Heavenspire or the Primal Beastland, the Wisdom Domain was rarely spoken of at all. Even cultivators within the Spirit Nidus knew little about the place, and that was the exact reason why the High Seraph had declared that the Wisdom Domain would never be allowed to have a Seraph. This was not because of a lack of capability, but rather because it could not be allowed. The High Seraph was intimidated by the domain.
The High Seraph, the Seven Seraphs, the ten sequence bases, and the eighty-eight sequence techniques all stemmed from around the same point in the timeline of the Spirit Nidus's growing powers. However, the Wisdom Domain had been the spark that had started that timeline; it was an end point of the Spirit Nidus.
As one end of the line that represented the Spirit Nidus’s rise in power, the Wisdom Domain had shaped the megaverse’s future. Both the unified cultivation system and the sequence bases had been conceptualized by the Wisdom Domain.
Among the higher echelons of the Spirit Nidus, there was a saying: the Wisdom Domain is one era ahead.
The Wisdom Domain had never given rise to any renowned powerhouses, and yet it was inseparable from the Spirit Nidus’s future. Even the predetermined resource allocations and overall development of the megaverse depended on the Wisdom Domain.
The High Seraph might not care about the Seven Seraph joining forces, but the Wisdom Domain was an entirely different matter.
The Wisdom Domain was, in a sense, another High Seraph for the Spirit Nidus.
When Lu Yin had been told about the thirty-six domains, he had already taken note that the Wisdom Domain was a place he would need to visit.
He had not expected someone from that domain to visit him first.
In the previous timeline, Wang Wen had devised a plan to deal with the Spirit Nidus, and at that time, he had emphasized the importance of strategic attacks. He had remarked that there was no question that there were absolutely brilliant minds in the Spirit Nidus, but such people had most likely been overwhelmed by the collective mindset and culture of the Spirit Nidus as a whole.
At that time, Lu Yin had agreed.
However, their assumptions had proven to only be valid when it came to individuals who were subject to the collective mindset of the megaverse.
In contrast, the Wisdom Domain stood above the collective mindset of the Spirit Nidus. It could even be argued that the Spirit Nidus’s overall mindset was something that came from the Wisdom Domain.
The Wisdom Domain had single-handedly shaped the culture and mental identity of the Spirit Nidus.
If the Wisdom Domain was truly an era ahead of the rest of the Spirit Nidus, they would not have failed to notice the disadvantages in regards to the invasion of the Tianyuan Megaverse. Even so, during the branch stream of the River of Aeons, the invasion’s vanguard had failed. This was not only due to Lu Yin’s countermeasures, but also due to the Spirit Nidus’s outdated war strategies.
This puzzled Lu Yin. If the Wisdom Domain was able to clearly see the cultural differences between the two megaverses, then why had they not warned people?
Was the Wisdom Domain overrated?
Or perhaps... could they have another plan?
If the domain did have another plan, then Lu Yin could only think of one reason: the High Seraph. The Wisdom Domain might have shaped the Spirit Nidus’s cultivation system and determined the overall mindset, but they could not influence the High Seraph.
The fact that the High Seraph had refused to allow a Seraph to rise from the Wisdom Domain was proof of that.
If Lu Yin were part of the Wisdom Domain, he would consider the High Seraph a random variable that needed to be resolved. For the Spirit Nidus, if the Wisdom Domain was one end of the line of their rise in power, things could only continue to develop in a single direction.
Right now, it felt as though the brain and the body of the Spirit Nidus had been separated; the body wanted to go left, while the brain wanted to go right.
As Lu Yin pondered things, Young Master Yu stepped onto Boundless and was already walking toward Lu Yin.
The man had a plain appearance and an unremarkable presence. However, his eyes seemed capable of seeing straight into a person’s soul.
As he walked across Boundless, every step seemed precisely calculated and flawlessly executed. Each step was steady and confident. They clearly represented the man’s inner strength.
Lu Yin observed Young Master Yu, and then he suddenly released a surge of pressure that swept towards the man.
Young Master Yu seemed to have predicted Lu Yin’s action in advance. As the pressure arrived, the man’s expression never changed. The man continued with the same timing, the steps covered the same distance, and even the expression on the man’s face remained as composed as ever.
Lu Yin arched a brow. He anticipated that I’d release pressure and prepared in advance.
Lu Yin sharply increased the pressure.
Young Master Yu suddenly stopped walking, and he looked straight at Lu Yin. “I overestimated you.”
Lu Yin smiled faintly. “Oh? How so?”
Young Master Yu shook his head. “Using force to suppress others—you’re no different from the High Seraph.”
Lu Yin appeared surprised. “Are you comparing me to the High Seraph? You are overestimating me. I’m merely the Third Boss. The Big Boss is Yuan Qi.”
Young Master Yu stared at Lu Yin. “You’re from the Tianyuan Megaverse, aren’t you?”
Lu Yin did not deny the allegation.
“This matter... the High Seraph has sealed the information, but it appears that my guess is correct. In that case, allow me to make another guess. He’s been to the Tianyuan Megaverse, hasn’t he?” Young Master Yu continued.
Lu Yin’s eyes flickered, but he still denied nothing.
In this case, the guess was both true and false. The High Seraph had indeed visited the Tianyuan Megaverse, but that was only during the branch stream of the River of Aeons, not in the current timeline.
Young Master Yu took another step forward, continuing his way toward Lu Yin.
Lu Yin calmly sat and watched the man.
Few people in the Spirit Nidus understood the Wisdom Domain, but those who were observing Boundless from the distance were all members of major factions. They knew the domain’s importance. While Young Master Yu was not widely recognized, he was still treated with great respect by the major families and sects.
The fact that he had stepped aboard Boundless symbolized the actions of the Wisdom Domain as a whole, so everyone was awaiting the outcome.
No one knew Young Master Yu’s purpose in visiting Boundless.
The man stopped when he was ten meters away from Lu Yin. Young Master Yu studied the man before him and then declared, “There must be someone on this ship who is comparable to the High Seraph. That person is the true master of the Tianyuan Megaverse. You, Seraph Yuan Qi, and all of the others here are under that person’s control.”
Old Tao was standing behind Lu Yin, observing Young Master Yu. It was rare to encounter someone from the Wisdom Domain, and they were universally famous for possessing unmatched intelligence and the ability to thoroughly understand any situation.
What Young Master Yu was saying was not exactly wrong.
The outside world believed that Seraph Yuan Qi was the Grandverse Manor’s master, but Young Master Yu alone had managed to determine that Yuan Qi was not acting of his own volition. Through pure deduction, this man had even surmised that Boundless was from the Tianyuan Megaverse.
Young Master Yu’s attention returned to Lu Yin. “You must be that person’s descendant. Although it appears that Seraph Yuan Qi is leading this Grandverse Manor, you are actually holding that position.
“Let me venture even further: on the surface, it appears that you’ve entered into some sort of cooperative relationship with the High Seraph, but the reality is that he’s manipulating you. You were forced to come here from the Tianyuan Megaverse. You’ve been pushed back at every turn, and yet you can do nothing about him.”
A glint appeared in Lu Yin’s eyes, and he gave a slow clap. “So, is this what someone from the Wisdom Domain is capable of? Impressive, very impressive.”
Young Master Yu’s expression remained calm. “I can see through every move you make. You’re currently trying to act against my reasoning to have me believe that I’m wrong. In doing so, you’ve only reinforced my conclusions.
“The High Seraph has already suppressed the Tianyuan Megaverse, and all of you will eventually be buried by him. The battle at the boundary crushed the Daquan Domain, but that is only his first step. Tell me, what leverage does he have on you? I can help you.
“If not, you’ll meet a grim end.”
Lu Yin was genuinely impressed. With no real information, Young Master Yu had succeeded in deducing nearly half of the truth.
It was true that the High Seraph held leverage over Lu Yin, and he had also forced him to leave the Tianyuan Megaverse and come to the Spirit Nidus. In a way, Lu Yin could be considered a descendant of the Origin Progenitor as well.
The battle at the boundary could also be seen as Boundless being used by the High Seraph to destroy the Daquan Domain. In the future, it was quite likely that the Tianyuan cultivators would continue to be used, but that would be very difficult to change.
From an outsider’s perspective, Young Master Yu’s guesses were about 90% correct.
Some distance away, Ce Wangtian picked his nose, muttering as he observed Young Master Yu. The smarter the person, the worse their fate tended to be.
Lu Yin rose to his feet and walked towards Young Master Yu.
The man calmly watched Lu Yin. He was utterly confident in his deductions, and he was also confident in his status, given that he had been recognized as a member of the Wisdom Domain.
“I’ve heard that the heirs of the Wisdom Domain carry a special sphere. Show me,” Lu Yin said, abruptly changing the topic.
Young Master Yu raised a hand and revealed a black sphere that he held. It was pitch black, and it even seemed to be absorbing all light.
Lu Yin unceremoniously took the sphere and examined it. “Twin-born Yin.”
Young Master Yu’s eyes instantly narrowed. “Did Seraph Yuan Qi tell you about that?”
Lu Yin continued to stare at the black sphere as he walked. “The Wisdom Domain has two heirs: the heir in the light, who roams about carrying the Twin-born Yin, and the hidden heir, who is rarely seen. That one carries the Twin-born Yang. Yuan Qi mentioned that the hidden heir is the true heir of the Wisdom Domain. While the exposed heir observes the megaverse, the hidden heir remains apart from things, believing themselves to be transcendent.”
Young Master Yu chuckled. “You merely know half of the truth. While that may seem to be true, without personally roaming the megaverse, it is impossible for a person to truly grasp its richness. Does he believe that remaining apart from the rest of the world makes him transcendent? What a joke. Compared to me, he will always lack genuine experience in the megaverse.”
“And what about you? After roaming the megaverse, will you still be able to remove yourself from it?” Lu Yin countered.
Young Master Yu replied, “There’s no need to separate myself. Everyone exists within the same megaverse. What is outside, and what is inside? That is nothing more than the heart’s desire of where one wishes to be.
“To transcend one must see through the human heart.”
Lu Yin casually tossed the black sphere back to Young Master Yu. “Well said. Those who think themselves transcendent ultimately fail to transcend. However, you’re still far from that realm.”
Lu Yin sat back down and turned to look at Young Master Yu. “You’re clever and worthy of your position as the Wisdom Domain’s acknowledged heir. However, being clever isn’t enough for you to cooperate with us. You want to use us to experience the upheaval in the megaverse, but we are not your pawns.”
Young Master Yu was taken aback, and he finally began to seriously observe Lu Yin.
This man had actually seen through his intentions.
His earlier behavior would have led most to believe that the Wisdom Domain opposed the High Seraph and sought to move against him. After all, ever since the High Seraph had forbidden the Wisdom Domain from raising a Seraph, they had intentionally fostered this illusion of opposition. Everyone who knew about the Wisdom Domain, including the Seven Seraphs, believed this to be true.
In truth, Young Master Yu’s goal was to create some sort of upheaval and then observe the results so that he could calculate what had changed. In doing so, he hoped to surpass his domain’s hidden heir and predict the entire Spirit Nidus’s future. In that manner, he would be able to establish himself as the actual heir of the Wisdom Domain.
1. This "Yu" is the same character as the word "foolish." This name could also be read or heard as "the foolish young master." ☜
