Chapter 1241: 74
’Yes,’ Russell said these two words, not exactly lying.
But it’s difficult, that much is true.
Want to reach his level? Become an Exemplar-level Interstellar Warrior? That’s not something that can be achieved by training alone. Recruits must go through countless bloody battles between life and death, undergo trials, and refine their skills.
During this process, they will become more experienced, stronger, and better able to harness the Spiritual Energy flowing within them, finally becoming veterans and earning the Warrior Medal.
Having the Warrior Medal symbolizes that they have become a veteran of the Battle Group.
An Exemplar of the Battle Group is even above veterans.
If earning the Warrior Medal and becoming a veteran is something everyone can theoretically achieve — any Interstellar Warrior, as long as they train hard enough, fight enough battles, and manage to survive until they can summarize their experiences, will eventually become a veteran.
But to become an Exemplar? Perhaps it requires an exceptional talent.
This talent could be having a better potential for physical modification so that even after others have completed their growth and development, the body can further develop and, with more battles, unleash more potential and become stronger than others.
It could also be having a better mastery of naturally flowing Spiritual Energy. Unlike the direct use of Psychic Spells by the Think Tank and Psychics, the innate Spiritual Energy of regular Interstellar Warriors is more like a passive enhancement ability. Those with greater talent in this area can better use Spiritual Energy to enhance their bodies and combat skills, elevating their strength to a higher level.
It could be possessing sharper talent in certain combat skills, such as swordsmanship, where under equal conditions, they achieve victory effortlessly just with superior combat skills.
No matter what kind of talent, or whether it is a combination of them, to achieve Exemplar level, one must be significantly more outstanding than veterans.
As an Exemplar of the Battle Group, Russell is more talented in various aspects than his contemporaries. Especially in physical strength, he is more prominent. Whether it’s power or agility, he far exceeds his counterparts. Previous battle comrades described him as an unerring killing machine.
Currently, among the eleven members of the Battle Group, Alec and Reso were forcibly raised to the rank of sergeant through rewards from Gray Mist; the remaining nine aren’t even formal Interstellar Warriors and haven’t reached the so-called sergeant rank, and thinking about becoming Exemplars at this point is way too far off.
Russell isn’t even sure how many of them will live long enough to become veterans.
But as a senior, he can’t just crush the recruits’ confidence blindly.
After all, who can say that among these recruits, none will emerge as exceptionally talented?
…
The operation to clear the remnants of the cultist forces at Aric’s Point lasted for three days.
Statistics show that the cultist insurgents originally stationed here amounted to roughly around thirty thousand. More than ten thousand of them, along with most of the heavy equipment, were sent flying by orbital bombing. The remaining seventeen thousand were scattered across various defensive fortifications and were completely annihilated in three days.
The main force executing the clearing mission was actually the ordinary soldiers of the Planetary Defense Force. After all, no matter how strong the Interstellar Warriors are, how powerful Russell is, there are only twelve of them. One of them is recuperating due to Spiritual Energy contamination, and Alec has to be diverted to take care of him.
Yet, despite this, the Interstellar Warriors still played a very significant role.
All the hardest battles have the presence of the Interstellar Warriors. Without them, these battles could only be filled with human lives and drawn out with time. But now, with them, these struggles were easily solved.
During these three days, happenings at Aric’s Point were not limited to clearing remnants.
After essentially taking Aric’s Point, Admiral Terke, ecstatic upon hearing the news, couldn’t pass up such an excellent opportunity.
A large number of trucks filled with supplies braved the bombings along the road that night, passing through Aric’s Point, heading thirty kilometers northwest to the Sirion stronghold.
Using this opened lifeline, the twelve thousand troops trapped in the Sirion Region received critical supply support. Meanwhile, the news that the Phoenix Battle Group had engaged in battle and opened the rescue path instantly boosted the morale of the troops that were on the verge of collapse.
The next day, many trucks also came from the Sirion direction. Some of the crippled, non-combatant forces escorted a considerable number of wounded patients through Aric’s Point, withdrawing to safe areas in the rear.
Aric’s Point was so crucial that the cultist insurgents certainly couldn’t remain indifferent to losing it.
In fact, by the evening, small groups of insurgent forces had appeared from the north and south directions, conducting reconnaissance probing attacks, but they were undoubtedly repelled.
The next day, a reorganized enemy division appeared south of Aric’s Point. While the Planetary Defense Force facing them had only one infantry regiment and two artillery battalions.
This was certainly not enough to hold off the enemy.
But Russell intervened.
Just after single-handedly annihilating eight Evil Priests, he swiftly appeared on the battlefield and went on a rampage.
He first silently infiltrated the enemy’s rear.
The infiltration process requires little discussion; his red armor stands out, yet there’s no rule against putting on camouflage; his body is enormous, weighing a ton, but the enemy simply can’t see or hear him.
