Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts
Chapter 925 - 925: Finding the Count“Selena, wait for me. You’re too fast. Where are we now?” Sera panted while looking around.
Selena halted her step for a moment and looked at her. She waved her hand with a confident face. “Hurry up. I know the way. It’s not that far anymore.”
For this rescue operation, she had read the notebook multiple times, studying the palace and their routes again and again.
She had put everything in her mind to the point where she knew this place like the back of her hand.
It had been over a decade, so she couldn’t wait to find her father.
Sera took a deep breath and nodded. Before she continued, she suddenly heard a loud crumbling sound.
“!!!” Both Sera and Selena turned their heads, staring at the wall on the left.
“That’s…” Sera didn’t know how to react.
“Nathan is doing something. That’s why we don’t have a lot of time. We need to go now. Just follow me.” Selena turned around and continued running.
Sera sighed and chased after her with all her might.
As Selena said, she definitely knew the way.
The closer they were, the more clues it presented.
After taking another turn, they could see large veins, similar to a root, but it felt alive as if it were a blood vein. These veins were attached to the wall, ceiling, floor… everything that they touched.
Although it didn’t harm anything, it gave chills down Sera’s spines because the veins suddenly pulsated.
It might be due to the amount of blood coming from the outside. The veins were absorbing the blood as more aliens continued to fall.
The closer they were, the more veins shrouded the area. Eventually, they saw a double door that was almost covered by the veins.
Selena didn’t hesitate to blast open the door with her power, hurting the veins. However, she was aware it wouldn’t hurt whatever was connected to the vein because of the notebook, so she continued onward, entering a hall that had been covered completely by the pulsating red veins.
In the center of this hall stood a massive red crystal. It was translucent, especially with the help of the sunlight illuminating the room through a small window from the upper wall.
In the center of the crystal, a faint silhouette could be seen. The notebook was right.
Inside the crystal was a man who looked like he was in his late twenties. He still looked young, even though he was supposed to have been over 40. His time had stopped ever since that day.
He had short black hair and his facial features were similar to Selena’s. His eyes closed as though he had accepted his fate, but Selena could see the tears coming out of his eyes that seemed to have been frozen by the crystal as well.
It was as if he was filled with guilt before he was frozen in this place.
Selena couldn’t contain her tears anymore. Her body was shaking as she couldn’t help but extend her hand as if trying to reach the person inside the crystal.
A word escaped her mouth. “Fa…ther…”
Sera was staring at the crystal without saying anything. It must have been hard for Selena to live without her father the whole time. Brunhild, who was standing next to her, just paid her respect in silence.
Only Risa dared to make a scene. She grabbed Selena’s wrist, which startled everyone.
When Selena turned to her, Risa crushed all kinds of thoughts by shouting, “Do you forget our mission? Hurry up! Even I want to pay respect to him, but are you going to risk everyone’s lives for nostalgia?”
If Nathan were here, he would have given Risa a thumbs-up. After all, he, too, was always confused by how people suddenly had the time for themselves on a battlefield to say goodbye to their loved one who almost died on the battlefield while the rest of the soldiers just kept fighting around them as if they never existed.
Selena opened her mouth but stopped because she knew Risa was doing it for her and everyone’s sake.
Selena bit her lips before taking a deep breath. “You are right. Sorry. Thank you for bringing me back.”
Without waiting for Risa’s response, Selena hurriedly waved her wand to the ground. “Go away!”
The sweeping force crushed the veins and pushed them away, clearing up the area from the veins. They needed to set up the summoning circle, and the veins were just in the way.
After clearing up enough area, Selena shouted, “Sera, Risa, you two help me draw the summoning circle. Brunhild, you protect all of us.”
Brunhild nodded and turned around while raising her spear, making sure there was no beast entering this place.
Selena then took out a white metal box from inside her space bracelet. This metal box contained the corpse of a bat as the medium of a vampire.
However, Selena had prepared two more materials for the sacrifice. The first one was Risa’s blood. Knowing it was a queen vampire’s blood, the one coming out of this summoning circle would be a queen vampire or a progenitor.
The second blood came from Nathan. It was only a small vial, but it was all they needed. In the end, this blood was bait to lure out a vampire progenitor. It was a blood that even Charlotte and Asmodeus couldn’t understand.
More importantly, it was a blood that defied all odds by evolving Risa from a countess to a queen in just a short period.
Once she put down all the materials, Selena helped out with the summoning circle. This summoning circle was much more complex than the one they usually used.
There were a total of three circles in this summoning circle. There were three sacrifices that had been categorized as: Medium, Link, and Sacrifice.
Selena put the bat corpse as the medium and the two people’s blood as the sacrifice. However, she used a part of the vein as the link, since it was connected to the crystal. This way, the summoning circle would recognize this crystal as part of the vein and envelop it, leaving the human behind.
This was their plan to rescue Count Ashton.
