Chapter 674: The Banquet Scene

Ian sat by the table, carefully sipping the watermelon juice Smoothie had squeezed for him, and was pleasantly surprised by its taste.

He raised his glass toward Smoothie in acknowledgment, smiling warmly.

However, as soon as Smoothie saw Ian’s smile, she quickly turned her head in a fluster.

“I… I can’t look directly into his eyes…”

Ian hadn’t yet realized that Smoothie had already fallen for him. After smiling, he began to scan the wedding venue, and soon noticed the members of the Fire Tank Pirates sitting at a table behind him to the right.

The Fire Tank Pirates looked like a group of mobsters. It was unclear whether their stern expressions were due to their boss getting married and leaving bachelorhood or because they were already aware of the day’s action plan. One by one, they appeared tense. When Ian’s gaze fell upon them, Vito, the long-tongued subordinate of Capone Bege, gave Ian a slight nod.

Ian didn’t respond. He had to act as if he didn’t know these people.

At that moment, the Queen of the Pleasure District, Stussy, arrived, and accompanying her was none other than Big Mom, Charlotte Linlin.

The two of them were chatting and laughing, looking like close sisters. With Big Mom’s arrival, many people stood up to greet her.

“Mama mama! I’m so happy today to have so many guests attending my party!” Big Mom responded with a loud laugh, acknowledging everyone.

“Mom…” Katakuri approached her, with an expression that suggested he had something on his mind but hesitated to speak.

Seeing this, Stussy tactfully covered her mouth and smiled. “Alright, Linlin, I’ll go find my seat,” she said.

She then walked toward the table where Lu Feld and the others were seated. As she passed Ian, she glanced at him, her lips curling into a slight smile.

Ian didn’t notice Stussy’s expression, as his focus was on Katakuri, who was whispering something into Big Mom’s ear.

“Is he reporting on last night’s events?” Ian thought as he sipped his watermelon juice, speculating to himself.

Sure enough, after Katakuri finished his report, Big Mom burst into loud laughter once again and waved at Ian, saying, “Ian, come sit at my table!”

After only a brief hesitation, Ian stood up, walked over, and sat down right next to Big Mom.

Naturally, if you’re acting, you have to play the part completely. So after sitting down, Ian put on a friendly expression, as if he had completely forgotten about the conflict from the previous day. He smiled and said, “It’s an honor. It seems like you’re in a great mood today, Big Mom!”

Katakuri had just informed her that Pudding had successfully completed her mission, but he had yet to report on the intrusion into the treasure room. So, when she heard Ian’s words, Big Mom burst into laughter again, confirming to herself that Ian’s attitude had indeed changed. She then directly asked, “Ian, you’re so funny! Even though the tea party invitation was addressed only to you, it didn’t say you couldn’t bring others. Why didn’t you bring that giant, Raideen, from your pirate crew with you?”

Ian’s heart skipped a beat, but he pretended to be confused and said casually, “Oh, Raideen? As soon as he heard we were coming to Cake Island, he flat-out refused. I’m not sure why…”

Upon hearing this, Big Mom’s face darkened for a moment.

When she was young, due to her time at Mother Carmel’s “Sheep’s House” orphanage, Big Mom had spent quite a long time in Elbaf. Although she was later exiled after accidentally killing the giant elder Yoruru during one of her hunger fits, being branded a heretic, deep down, Big Mom still felt a sense of guilt over the incident. Her time in Elbaf had been the happiest period of her life.

It was precisely because of this guilt that Big Mom had always wanted to repair her relationship with the giants. Within Big Mom’s Totto Land, countless races and rare creatures were collected, but the one group notably missing was the giants. With her power, it wouldn’t be difficult to subdue even a giant, but she simply didn’t want to do it that way.

Big Mom knew that Ian’s Dragon Hunter Pirate crew included Raideen, a giant who was once a slave. The reason she brought it up earlier was to see if Ian could get Raideen to come to Cake Island.

In fact, if Raideen had come, he would likely have received just as much, if not more, attention and favor than Ian himself on Cake Island.

But unfortunately, Ian hadn’t lied. He had asked Raideen once before, but Raideen had refused with a look of deep disgust to even consider going to Cake Island.

This disgust came from the heart. Even though Raideen had never met Big Mom personally, his reaction showed just how deeply the entire giant race despised her.

Feeling a wave of sadness wash over her, Big Mom’s mood suddenly soured, and it seemed as if the air pressure around them dropped as well. Lu Feld and the others, as well as the members of the Fire Tank Pirates, couldn’t help but fall silent in fear.

This was Big Mom’s Conqueror’s Haki leaking out unintentionally. Sitting so close, Ian naturally sensed it. While it didn’t affect him, he was still somewhat shocked.

Ian’s own Conqueror’s Haki had a powerful presence, but he wasn’t yet able to unconsciously release it to the point where it could affect people.

Big Mom, on the other hand, had been a famed pirate for decades and had been honing her Haki just as long. In this regard, Ian couldn’t compare.

Noticing her mood darkening, Ian smiled and tapped the table, saying, “Don’t worry. I don’t know why you’re so eager to meet my giant crewmate, Big Mom, but if you want to meet him, there will always be a chance.”

“You’re right!” Big Mom’s mood shifted again, and she laughed heartily, saying, “Ma-ma-ma-ma! Once you and Smoothie are married, your Dragon Hunter Pirates and the Big Mom Pirates will be like family. We’ll have plenty of opportunities to visit each other!”

Ian simply smiled without responding, but behind him, Smoothie was not as composed. She covered her face with her hands, trying to hide behind Katakuri, but her height made it impossible for him to shield her effectively.

Meanwhile, as Ian’s words seemed to lift Big Mom’s spirits again, the underworld bosses at Lu Feld’s table exchanged confused glances. They couldn’t make sense of the situation. Yesterday, when the topic of marriage was brought up, Ian had been adamant about leaving immediately. But why now did he show no sign of objection?

The world was changing too fast, and they couldn’t keep up…

While Lu Feld and the others were puzzled, Stussy’s heart skipped a beat as a terrible suspicion suddenly popped into her mind.

As a member of CP0, she had spent years pretending to be Big Mom’s friend, gaining a thorough understanding of the Big Mom Pirates. Ian’s sudden shift in attitude made her think of Big Mom’s daughter, Charlotte Pudding…

“Oh no… Could it be that Ian’s memory has already been altered?” Stussy’s heart sank as she lowered her head. Beneath her elegant hat, her expression turned dark and menacing.

However, no one noticed her change in demeanor at that moment. Big Mom’s mood had lifted, and as a result, everyone around her was smiling and laughing again.

Ian’s attention shifted to Zeus, the thundercloud that was always floating above Big Mom’s head. An idea struck him, and he waved at Zeus.

Zeus, with its childlike personality, immediately noticed Ian’s friendly gesture. The thundercloud, wearing its little baseball cap, floated curiously over to Ian and asked, “Why did you call me?”

Big Mom, seeing this interaction, was momentarily taken aback, watching Ian and Zeus intently.

With a soft pop, Ian conjured a small ball of lightning in his hand and tossed it toward Zeus. “Here, something tasty for you!” he said with a smile.

Zeus’s eyes lit up the moment it saw the lightning ball. With a swift motion, it devoured the ball in one gulp.

“Delicious! So tasty!” Zeus exclaimed gleefully, circling around Ian excitedly. Like a playful puppy begging for more treats, it stuck out its tongue and pleaded, “I want more! Give me more!”

However, Ian ignored Zeus and waved at Prometheus as well. When Prometheus floated down, Ian conjured a black fireball and tossed it to the sun homie.

In no time, Ian’s mastery of both lightning and fire had completely won over Big Mom’s two loyal helpers. Both Zeus and Prometheus began hovering around Ian, drawn to him.

“Mama mama!” Big Mom laughed heartily, watching the scene with glee. “It seems I was right! You really are a good match for me, Mama! This is the first time I’ve ever seen Zeus and Prometheus get so close to anyone!”

“Of course!” Ian echoed her sentiment, then acted as if he suddenly remembered something. He asked Big Mom, “By the way, you mentioned you’d tell me something about Kaido…”

“Right!” Big Mom was in a great mood, her enthusiasm for conversation clearly growing. Without hesitation, she began speaking. “You must’ve heard the news by now, right? That Kaido guy has once again made a move on Wano Country!”

Ian nodded. The mention of Kaido also piqued the interest of the other guests. It wasn’t often that they got to hear one Emperor of the Sea talk about another.

Big Mom started counting on her fingers and said, “Let’s see… once, twice, three times… Over the years, Kaido has attacked Wano Country thirteen times already!”
