Chapter 857 - Heritage and the Turbulence

Chapter 857: Heritage and the Turbulence

In the past, Oro had always been urging Xia Fei to kill him, but now that the transfer order had come down and Xia Fei was really going off to the God Race, Oro had suddenly grown very quiet.

“How do you want to die?” asked Xia Fei with a smile. All of his previous melancholia had been swept away. The news that he had been promoted to the God Race instantly made him feel much lighter.

Oro pursed his lips. “Anything is fine as long as you don’t use the Blood Crystal. That thing is far too heaven-defying. I can’t take it.”

Xia Fei feigned difficulty, shaking his head as he sinisterly said, “That won’t do. It’s not like you can use this body of yours again. Wasting all that cultivation will be such a pity. Why don’t I use the Blood Crystal to half-kill you and then finish you off with a palm?”

Oro had initially been very calm, but when he heard this, he almost jumped out of his ice coffin!

“Kid, aren’t you too cruel? What cultivation do I still have? If I had any cultivation, do you think I would still be imprisoned by the Law of Ternary Spectrum? In light of our relationship of more than two years, you should at least grant me a swift death!”

Xia Fei chuckled. “Don’t be nervous. I was just joking with you. I’m truly reluctant to let you go. How about this: Why don’t you accompany me to the Panhuman Alliance first, as well as to Rock Private Bank to get the Atlantean inheritance, and then I’ll kill you?”

Finally, Oro’s eyes flashed. Doing all this stuff would take just a few days. The day he had been waiting for was so close, and the old demon could not help but be excited.

*Whoosh~*

The spatial gate activated, and Xia Fei brought Xiao Yu to the Half Moon Hill Villa.

Avril was startled by the sight of Xiao Yu, but then she squinted and naughtily smiled. Pinching Xia Fei’s arm, she said, “I always wondered why you weren’t that happy whenever I mentioned Nicole. Turns out that you’re already hiding such a pretty little girl.”

Xiao Yu had left the Earth at a very young age and had lived in a pure female-only environment, so her face instantly reddened. Dropping her head, she shot a glance at Xia Fei.

Xia Fei frowned. Getting close to Avril, he said, “Don’t speak nonsense. She’s Xiao Yu, our little sister.”

Avril was shocked. Xia Fei had mentioned the matter of Xiao Yu to Avril more than once. It was one of his major concerns.

“Sister Xiao Yu, I’m sorry.” Avril immediately grabbed the other girl’s hand as she repeatedly apologized.

Xiao Yu had been kidnapped at a very young age, so the kindhearted Avril would never let her suffer the slightest injustice. She immediately became incredibly affectionate, pulling her along and beginning to talk about family life.

“We will all be family in the future, but let’s go back to Earth first. It has been a long time since you saw your family, so you must dearly miss them,” said Xia Fei, lighting a cigarette.

Avril hastily said, “Right. Let’s first take Sister Xiao Yu home.”

Earth was not just Xiao Yu’s home; it was also Xia Fei’s. Although Xia Fei was now a member of the Skywings, in his heart, he had only one real home: this planet Earth where he grew up.

He had Avril go to Earth with them both to bring Xiao Yu home and also because Xia Fei badly missed this home planet of his. There was nothing to be done. The Chinese always had a strange attachment to home and would start missing it no matter where they went.

Spatial gates were truly fast. In a flash, the three of them had arrived on Earth.

Xiao Yu did not seem very comfortable. Earth had gone through large-scale reconstruction and was no longer what it used to be. The streets were wide and open, shaded by green trees, and there was not even one speck of pollution.

Xia Fei’s Quantum Holdings was supreme within the Panhuman Alliance, and reconstructing Earth was child’s play for it. In the past, the people of the other systems within the Alliance would laugh at Earth for being backward, but now, the prosperity of Earth had had those shortsighted people exploding with envy. Even the capital of Venal was far inferior to the beauty of Earth, which was now the undisputed number-one planet in the Panhuman Alliance!

Earth was beautiful, and Xiao Yu’s home was simply gorgeous. On the outskirts of Hangzhou was a massive garden, the entirety of which was home to her family. It was so beautiful that it looked like it was out of a fairytale.

Xiao Yu was grateful to Xia Fei for taking care of her family all these years. She said that, after living with them for a while, she would go to Half Moon Hill Villa and accompany Avril.

Xia Fei knew that she wanted to fulfill the role of bodyguard for Avril. There was not anything bad about this. Xiao Yu and Avril were both very young and were certain to be good conversation partners. Moreover, Xia Fei spent most of his time out, so he would be able to rest easier if Xiao Yu and Avril were together.

The good days went by quickly, and three days soon passed. Besides spending time with Avril, Xia Fei had taken a trip to the Hidden Realm. Phantom and Sophie had not made any progress. Sophie requested that Xia Fei search for any information that he could get on Radix when he arrived in the God Race, and Xia Fei readily agreed.

Rock Private Bank.

The bank employee inspected Xia Fei’s transfer order and then looked at him in speechless shock. This was the first time in his life that he was seeing a direct transfer order from the Palace of Gods!

In the well-sealed super VIP room, the employee presented a rather small box. After which, he respectfully departed.

Xia Fei smiled. “I’ve finally received the final inheritance of the Atlanteans. I wonder what’s inside?”

Oro replied, “Do you even need to ask? It can’t be anything bad. After all, this is an entire clan we’re talking about! There must be three great treasures!”

The box was not large, half a meter square.

Xia Fei pressed the buttons on both sides to open it. Inside were three items.

A ring, an ancient book, and a scroll.

Xia Fei first took that thick and ancient book. The book took up 90% of the box’s space, almost completely filling it.

Flipping it over, Xia Fei raised his eyebrow in delight!

It was none other than the book for the last three stages of the Beast Spirit Codex!

The Beast Spirit Codex was one of Xia Fei’s hidden trump cards. Without this codex on exotic beasts, Xia Fei would never have been able to tame Furball and sign a blood contract with a Holy Beast Shatterstar.

“Finally! I finally have it!” Xia Fei cried in surprise, waving around his free arm in excitement.

Smiling, Xia Fei placed this codex in his spatial ring. He was still busy cultivating, so he would start studying it once he went to the God Race.

Xia Fei then picked up that spatial ring in the box. Stroking it, he sent his consciousness inside and found that it was packed with Origin Crystals, all of them blue!

“Grade 6 Origin Crystals?!” Xia Fei was startled and quickly began counting them.

“One hundred thousand! One hundred thousand grade 6 Origin Crystals! I’m rich! If converted into grade 5 crystals, it would be ten million, and if converted to grade 4 crystals, it would be one billion!”

Oro nodded. “When you get to the God Race, you won’t lack places to spend money, so this money came at just the right time. At least, you won’t feel restrained while up there, feeling that you can’t buy anything.

“The Atlanteans were rather thorough. Not only did they pass on their clan’s most important codex, they also left behind some significant start-up capital. Alas, they’d never know that all of these things ended up in your hands.”

Xia Fei smiled and moved these crystals into his own ring. After all, this was a very small ring and did not have any value. It was far inferior to Peak Rainbow, which had one million cubic meters of space.

“Look at that scroll. I sense that this is probably the most important thing the Atlanteans left,” Oro said.

Xia Fei gently grabbed the scroll and unrolled it on the table.

The scroll was divided into two parts: One part was covered in words, and the other part was a map!

Once they had finished reading all the words, Xia Fei and Oro both sighed.

“According to this, the Beast Spirit Codex was actually a relic from the Immemorial Age. Just like the Immemorial Mystical Armaments, its background is unknown. The Atlanteans obtained it while adventuring!” said Xia Fei with a sigh.

Oro commented, “A clan lacking in strength obtaining an ancient relic is no different from suicide. If not for this Beast Spirit Codex, their clan wouldn’t have gone extinct so quickly. It seems like the real goal of their enemies was to get their hands on this codex.”

Xia Fei lit a cigarette and began to think. “Strange. Why is it that the Atlanteans said that no one could cultivate the last three stages of the Beast Spirit Codex? I looked it over just now, and it didn’t seem too difficult.”

Oro replied, “The scroll mentioned it, no? They found only three parts of the Beast Spirit Codex. The first six were based on their speculations from the ones they did have. None of their clan was able to succeed when attempting to cultivate the final stages directly.

“In other words, the Beast Spirit Codex is actually made of two parts. The one containing the last three stages is the source, while the one featuring the six stages is the simplified version, simplifying that codex so abstruse it is uncultivatable into one that can be cultivated. The two simply aren’t on the same level.”

Xia Fei lowered his head. This scroll had relayed to him a strange fact: No one had ever been able to cultivate the true codex. They had to rely on the simplified version.

As for the map, it was where the Atlanteans found the Beast Spirit Codex. It was a place called the Turbulence, where Dark Space mixed with conventional space, a chaotic region lurking with all kinds of hidden dangers.

“I’ve heard of the Turbulence before. It is extremely far away from the territory of the two supreme races. It is both a hell and a playground for adventurers. You’re not thinking of visiting that place, are you?” Oro tilted his head and asked.

Xia Fei was an extremely curious person, as Oro well knew.

Xia Fei smiled. “If I have the chance, it won’t be bad to take a look around, but I first have to report to the God Race. It’s nearly time.”

“Come on. Let’s find a place where no one’s around so that I can fulfill your wish,” Xia Fei lightly said, a hint of reluctance in his voice.

Oro shuddered. The moment he had been waiting for so many years was finally here, and he was so excited that he could hardly speak.

“After we part today, we’ll be enemies,” said Oro softly. Things had been tense as of late, and it was said that the God and Demon Races were about to start another war. They might even run into each other on the battlefield one day.

Xia Fei nonchalantly replied, “That’s not for certain. I have a feeling that we’ll still be friends.”

“How can you be so sure?” Oro curiously asked. Xia Fei’s lips curved upward into that characteristic smile, causing Oro to become so uneasy his back became drenched in cold sweat.

It had been proven, time and again, that nothing good happened whenever Xia Fei showed this eerie smile!
