Chapter 2076: Something’s wrong here.
“Oh no no, this is not a threat.
Don’t misunderstand.”
Nux shook his head.
“This is prediction.
Try and go against us and we will do everything in our power to hasten your end.
Trust me when I say it,
We are a very vindictive family.”
Nux spoke as his purple eyes shined coldly and Vexarion…
“…”
He had no answer to those words.
He had seen what the Leander Family did to Khaemorr and its Faction. Khaemorr was so isolated that it allowed him to recruit even the most loyal worlds to his Faction.
What’s worse was that the Leander Family did all that in less than a month. Khaemorr was completely helpless, even sending its elites to take action did not change anything.
It was… terrifying.
And even though Vexarion often laughed at Khaemorr and Sharnoth for not being able to take care of a ’mere’ mercenary party, deep down, he knew even he would have a difficult time finding a way to neutralize the threat.
After all, the ability to not be recognized by a World’s Will combined with that mastery over Space, it was almost impossible to counter.
Even he got hurt by an attack, that too, in his own World— not many beings could do that and get away without a scratch.
What’s even worse is that this bastard didn’t even look tired. It was as if he was simply showing the difference in strength between the two.
Even if he revealed the Leander Family’s secret to the rest of the Universe, it wouldn’t make them any less of a threat, after all, there were very limited ways to counterattack them.
Honestly, it was very likely that by the time Vexarion found the solution and neutralized them, the damage would already be something out of his control.
It was indeed foolish to antagonize these people without any apparent reason.
In the end, Vexarion controlled himself. Yes, even someone as arrogant as him gave in to this man’s threat. It was humiliating, but he still needed him to be on his side.
“You attacked my subordinate worlds.”
After a minute-long silence, Vexarion mentioned.
“As I said w—”
“You did it for profit, I understand that.”
Vexarion interrupted.
“I will not find faults in that, every being does whatever he can to survive, it is the simple Law of the Universe. The weak are bound to become prey for the strong.”
The Herald of Justice declared coldly. He then looked into Nux’s eyes and,
“I will not ask who hired you to attack us or any other details regarding what you did, as you said, you have no reason to reveal that.
But that does not change the fact that you changed sides and acted against me and in favor of my enemies.
Before I ally myself with you,
I need you to prove to me that you are not on the enemy’s side.
If you cannot do that, let us peacefully end the conversation here.”
He spoke in a tone that made it clear that no further negotiations were needed. The Herald of Justice had taken his stance, and he had no plans of backing down.
Honestly, from everything Nux knew about him after reading memories of those he kidnapped, he didn’t think the conversation would continue for so long.
Fooling Vexarion was much more difficult than he was initially expecting.
’He isn’t a Leader of a High-Level World without a reason, huh.’
He praised in his head, for now, however, he just smiled and used the biggest card he had been saving all this time,
“Are you asking me to prove that I am not on the enemy’s side?”
He questioned back, looking surprised that Vexarion said those words.
“Yes.”
Vexarion nodded, completely ignoring Nux’s shocked face.
“Do you think I am a fool?”
Nux blinked. It was as if he couldn’t understand the situation, soon however, his expression turned hostile,
“What are you trying to do, Vexarion?”
“What are you talking about?”
Now, it was Vexarion’s turn to be confused.
“You tell me!”
Nux raised his hand at the absurdity of the situation,
“You just asked me to prove that I am not on Sharnoth’s side.
Who in his right mind would currently be on Sharnoth’s side when she is bound to become an enemy of the Supreme Worlds?
She is nothing more than a Universal Target, someone every being in the Universe wishes to capture so they could get close to the Supreme Worlds.
Why in the seven hells would I be on her side?”
Nux snapped and Vexarion…
“…”
He turned silent.
Nux’s words made sense. No one in his right mind would side with that woman right now. Vexarion couldn’t even think of that possibility.
The only way this could go wrong would be this man attacking him instead of Sharnoth, allowing Sharnoth to kill him and then helping someone else capture Sharnoth to get the prize.
But that would make no sense since he had no particular reason to move against him, not to mention he would also be giving his weakness to the being he helped by giving him the proof that he actually helped Sharnoth when everyone knew she was the Universe’s enemy.
As he thought about it, Vexarion nodded to himself.
Then, he glanced at Nux and,
“Alright then, what do you want in return for my help?”
“Ten High-Level Relics.”
Nux’s answer was instantaneous.
“WHAT!?”
Vexarion snapped.
“Ten High-Level Relics.”
Nux repeated with an indifferent look on his face.
“Have you lost your mind!?”
“I have not.”
“Do you even know how valuable Ten High-Level Relics are!?”
“You talk as if you do not know the value of what I am providing you.”
Nux replied.
He then looked into Vexarion’s eyes and,
“I ask this because I know you have the resources to give me what I want. I wouldn’t have demanded it otherwise.”
“You…”
Vexarion’s face turned sore.
“You read Darage’s memories.”
Darage was one of his oldest subordinates, one who disappeared in the recent incident of his Transcendents disappearing mysteriously.
If it was Darage, he must have known how much wealth he had gathered since he was the one who managed most of it.
“As I said, we do our research before making a move.”
Nux answered without a change in his expression and Vexarion clenched his fists in annoyance.
“You will give me seven of those Relics now before your battle with Sharnoth, and the rest after you win against Sharnoth. You can choose which ones to give right now and which ones later. I do not care for that, since I know I will be getting all of them.”
“No, I will give you three Relics right now, the rest later.”
Vexarion countered and Nux just stared at the man with an annoyed look on his face,
“We both know you need this more than me.
Why are you making this overly complicated?”
He questioned.
“…”
Vexarion turned silent and Nux—
“Now, keep the seven Relics in front of you. I will use my powers to take them. Do it quickly, I do not have all day.”
—he instructed.
It was annoying, but what was even more annoying was that Vexarion had no choice but to follow the instructions.
He did as he was told and told the seven worst High-Level Relics he had. Nux waved his hand and in an instant, all the Relics disappeared right in front of the Herald of Justice, making his heart bleed.
The deal was made.
Nux smiled lightly as he stared at the seven Relics hovering around him. As a precaution, he had also sealed the Space around him, making teleportation impossible.
“Good doing business with you.”
With a wave of his hand, a Call Artifact appeared in front of Vexarion and,
“If you wish to contact me again, use this.”
He muttered and finally, he cut the call without letting Vexarion speak anything else.
“…”
After the call ended, deathly silence fell onto Vexarion’s Hall. None of his subordinates dared to speak; they all knew how annoyed their Lord was.
“Leave.”
After a short while, Vexarion ordered and in an instant, his subordinates scrammed.
…
On the other side, Nux, who was currently playing with the Relics in his hand with a smile on his face, was suddenly greeted by two adorable cats who jumped into his arms.
“Why did you ask for these things when they are of no use to us? He could have turned down the offer because of your extreme demand.”
Rune questioned as she buried herself inside Nux’s robes and licked his chest.
They couldn’t activate the Relics because that would give away their information to the Supreme World of Eternity. To them, these artifacts were no different than stone.
Nux, however, shook his head.
“If I hadn’t made this outrageous demand, he wouldn’t have trusted me.”
He chuckled.
“You are too cruel, not only are you going to kill him, you are also going to take away the wealth he had gained after working all his life.”
Thyra chuckled as she licked Nux’s ears. Yes, the cat was trying to stimulate him and pull him into her bed.
Nux rubbed her body and laughed out loud,
“The dead have no need for treasures, do they?”
He questioned.
The two cats laughed with him as they made themselves comfortable, acting however they wanted because they knew Nux would catch them.
Nux, of course, obliged and did exactly what they expected him to.
How could he not give in to such temptation? He could already imagine the two naked cat girls in his bed and just as he was about to grin ear to ear,
’Master Nux.’
A subordinate called out.
’What is it?’
Nux questioned with a frown, recalling where he had placed this one.
’Something’s wrong here.’
The subordinate answered, and before he could explain anything further,
RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE
THUNDER THUNDER THUNDER
The Universe reacted angrily.
The Reaper’s Veil hiding Umbrasol disappeared.
