The Hero King, Reincarnate to Master the Art of War
Chapter 455: 16 Year Old Inglis and the Highland on Distance Sea (64)Leave a comment
Perhaps the pod of dolphins that had appeared earlier had been fleeing from the Prisma. The direction they came from matched that of the Prisma.
"How does it feel!? It’s not just us—heaven, earth, the sea, even the magic stone beasts themselves are commanding your deathhhh!"
"W-what should we do!? If the Prisma gets any closer, Mais and the Highlanders will—!"
The Highlanders had weaker resistance to the Prism Flow compared to those of Midlanders. If exposed, they would turn into magic stone beasts, and even the Prism Powder prepared by the Ironblood Chain Brigade would take effect on them.
And the Prisma itself was essentially a concentrated mass of Prism Flow.
In the battle with the giant bird Prisma in the town of Arlman, even ordinary humans had been transformed into magic stone beasts.
While there might be differences in power between individual Prismas, it was unthinkable that Highlanders, with their weaker resistance compared to regular humans, could survive unscathed if they were approached by such a being.
Just being near it could turn them all into magic stone beasts in an instant.
"……!"Rafinha was gripped by an overwhelming sense of danger, and neither Leone nor Liselotte had any words to offer in response. Both were desperately searching for a solution, but no brilliant ideas came to mind.
Drip. Drip.
And then, as if to add to their despair, something fell onto Rafinha and the others’ foreheads—raindrops, shimmering with rainbow hues.
"Prism Flow!?"
Could it be that the Prisma approaching Illuminus had summoned it?
"Wh-why now, of all times…!"
Amid the panic, it was Mais who called out to Rafinha and the others.
"Rafinha, Leone, Liselotte! You’ve done enough! The three of you should escape! If it’s just the three of you, you might be able to find a nearby islet and get away!"
"Mais!"
"No, we can’t—!"
"We couldn’t possibly—!"
"It’s fine! For us, it’s already too late… Either the Prism Flow or the Prisma will turn us into magic stone beasts! If that happens, we’ll end up attacking you three, and I don’t want that! So, please, go now!"
Suddenly, someone gave Mais a firm push from behind—it was his mother.
"I beg of you! Please, take this child with you and escape! He can go as our representative, for all of us! It’s as he says—there’s no hope for the rest of us! But please, just this one child…!"
"Mother! What are you saying!? I want to stay with everyone!"
Mais’ protest was cut short as Rafinha pulled him into a tight embrace.
"…Fine! I understand!"
Leone and Liselotte could say nothing in response. The tears welling up in Rafinha’s eyes spoke volumes—they understood her feelings all too well. She was taking the burden of making the impossible decision on behalf of all of them.
"Rafinha! I’m okay! I’ll stay here with my mother and everyone else—!"
"Enough! You’re coming with us, Mais!"
Rafinha retorted, holding him firmly to prevent him from resisting further.
"Liselotte!" Leone called out, helping Rafinha secure Mais.
"Understood!" Liselotte responded, activating the miracle of her white wings.
"YOU THINK I’LL LET YOU GOOOOOO!?"
The faceless giant swung its fist, and the resulting shockwave struck Rafinha and the others just as they were about to take flight.
““““AAAAAGGGHHHH!!!!””””
The group was scattered, each person forcefully flung back, slamming hard against the ground.
"Ugh… ahh…"
But there was no time to lie still. They had made the decision to at least save Mais. No matter what, Mais must be rescued.
As Rafinha tried to push herself up, a massive, dark shadow suddenly loomed in her vision.
"It's coming!"
"The Prisma! It-it jumped!?"
The Prisma, having swiftly closed the distance to Illuminus' shoreline, leaped out of the water, soaring impossibly high into the air.
It intended to launch itself onto land and devour Rafinha, the others, and the Highlanders alike. The sight of the massive fish's rainbow-glowing body was, in its way, hauntingly beautiful.
"Heh… Scary, but it's kind of… pretty."
Mais muttered as the spectacle unfolded. And then—
SPLAAAAAASH!
Without warning, an enormous water column shot up from the sea, smashing into the Prisma's midsection.
"Guoooaaarrr!?"
The Prisma let out a cry as it was sent hurtling far beyond Illuminus, its massive body writhing like a fish caught on a line.
"Wha-what!?"
"What just happened!?"
"That’s—!"
“““THE SARCOPHAGUS OF GREYFRIAR?!!”””
The voices of Rafinha and the others rang out in unison.
A massive rectangular stone box— The Sarcophagus of Greyfriar had emerged from the sea without warning, crashing into the Prisma with such force that it sent the beast flying.
Immediately after, the Sarcophagus of Greyfriar, as if possessing a will of its own, charged directly at the faceless giant clad in golden armor.
"Nuugh!?"
The giant reacted, crossing its arms in front of its body to brace for impact. —But as if mocking its efforts, the massive form of the Sarcophagus of Greyfriar distorted and vanished.
"What!?"
In the stunned eyes of Rafinha and the others, the sarcophagus reappeared the next instant—behind the faceless giant.
"Impossible!"
With incredible momentum, it slammed into the unguarded side of the giant.
*BOOOOM!**
"GUOOOOOOOOAAAAAAHHHHHHH!?"
The giant was flung from Illuminus, skipping across the water with massive splashes before being hurled so far away it disappeared from sight—exactly in the same direction the Prisma had been sent flying.
"……"
Rafinha and the others were struck speechless.
The Sarcophagus of Greyfriar, which had suddenly emerged from the sea, had seemingly acted with intent, effortlessly launching both the Prisma and the golden-armored faceless giant away in an instant.
Yet, the sarcophagus was nothing more than an enormous stone box. It had no will, nor could it move on its own. The one responsible for its movements, however, was there all along—hidden by the massive stone form.
"Phew. Just in time. A giant and a Prisma? This looks fun." Standing there, effortlessly holding the colossal sarcophagus as if it weighed nothing, was someone all too familiar—
"Glis!"
"Inglis!"
"Miss Inglis!"
And it wasn’t the childlike Inglis from before being sealed in the sarcophagus, but her original 16-year-old self. The child-sized clothes she had been wearing no longer fit, and she had improvised by wrapping fabric around her chest and waist to cover herself.
