Rex was not foreign to an exhausting battle.
In fact, as a Werewolf, he excelled in it.
But at this moment, inside another realm and another body—he was still sluggish.
His soul was still adjusting to his new body, leaving him feeling disconnected from himself.
Exhaustion, a feeling that was very much accustomed to, crept through him like a vicious tide, pushing him to his very limits. As his vision blurred and darkness closed in, one thing became painfully clear to him—he had no choice but to play his final trump card.
The Invincible II item.
Considering that to obtain it, he needed the berserk quest—he was always hesitant to use it.
A berserk quest was hard and costly to trigger.
It involved endangering the people he cared about and for him, this was a luxury item.
Fortunately, Lady Luck came to his rescue as in the distance—he saw Amanir and Linthia arriving.
Rex didn’t check on them, taking care of his problems alone was already the default of his mind, and he forgot that he wasn’t alone. Coursing through the sky, Linthia was riding Amanir, and both boasted their life energy instantly to attract the Voidal Pawns’ attention.
Since Rex was the main threat, their distraction didn’t pull too many of them.
But it was still enough to alleviate a chunk of pressure on Rex’s back.
“Come on, Rex!” Linthia shouted atop of her lungs, there was anger in her tone. “Get up!
Seeing Rex wounded and weak was a sight that she hadn’t thought to be infuriating—the ‘Rex’ in the Mortal Realm would never allow himself to show such an unsightly sight no matter how many pebbles were thrown at him.
She was the one who was supposed to be the burden, the one who was supposed to be weak, not Rex.
Upon hearing this, Rex’s eyes widened for a second.
Being reprimanded by Amanir was hard to swallow but being reprimanded by Linthia?
It was unacceptable.
“Raarghh!” Rex grunted heavily as he climbed back to his feet strugglingly.
His body hummed with a peculiar energy, separate from his life energy—it was the moon’s power.
“Show them who you really are!” Linthia continued. “All of them are ants in your presence!”
ROAR!!
Garvain, Istvan, and Eiran covered their mouths with their arms as a powerful shockwave erupted from Rex’s body as his weak and faint aura surged once more. His roar reverberated through the entire area. From a bird’s eye view, the steaming silvery hue could be seen glowing brightly within the darkness.
“It’s not life energy! What is that?!” Eiran exclaimed in shock.
Istvan gritted his teeth, “How can he retain more power like this? It’s also not due to his Soul Artifacts”
Both of them couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
A Demon Spirit was normally stronger physically and weaker in terms of Soul Artifacts.
But Rex was strong on both sides.
Seeing this through a narrow gaze, Garvain frowned as he found Rex’s power to be familiar.

‘He became stronger the angrier he gets, this…’ He squinted. ‘Is he from the Mortal Realm?’
Kaboom!
Another round of shockwave exploded, so powerful that the Voidal Pawns disintegrated into dust, clearing the entire area around Rex from them. Using the last charge of his power, going past his limit, Rex dashed at the wounded Three-faced Leecher.
His life energy was running low and he could only maintain two of his three Soul Artifacts.
Rex was forced to deactivate his Mask of the Banished Eclipse.
It was the most life energy-taxing.
But then again, two Soul Artifacts should be enough to deal with the Three-faced Leecher.
Seeing Rex was charging in—while his tentacles were still recovering with only functional, there was a tint of fear. Rex couldn’t see bleak aura but his senses were already accustomed to sensing others’ fear, and there was no doubt that this Voidal Knight was scared.
Swoosh!
In retaliation, the Three-faced Leecher commands his Spirit Genesis field once again.
Piranhas and sharks lunged at Rex from below, attempting to stop him.
But most of them missed him entirely, almost as if he had an invisible barrier protecting him that made all of them slide off without being able to touch him. It was the Minor Law of Misdirection and those that were able to reach him were slapped away.
Rex’s charge wasn’t slowing down at all.
Desperate, the Three-faced Leecher howled and lashed its only tentacle.
However, that move was a mistake as Rex was able to grab it mid-flight, and stabbed his claws into it.
Smirking devilishly, Rex pulled on its tail—yanking the Three-faced Leecher off of the ground.
Showing no mercy in the slightest, Rex stabbed his other hand into its chest.
Splash!
As he suffered earlier, his claws pierced completely through until the very back in a burst of blood.
Unlike the successful attack that Rex suffered earlier from the Three-faced Leecher that missed his heart by an inch, his attack now was perfect. In his hand on the other side was a beating heart and without a pause, he crushed it completely.
A surge of pain swelled within the Three-faced Leecher’s body.
As soon as he did that, its right face screamed in pain before its features melted away.
And the Voidal Pawns became more frantic, attacking and wrapping their limbs on Rex wildly.
But Rex was merciless.
Realizing the uniqueness of the Three-faced Leecher, Rex pierced his hand again without the monster being able to do anything and probe its insides. His eyes glistened with a deadly glint when he grabbed ahold of something beating—it was a second heart.
With a simple squeeze, Rex destroyed the second heart, killing the left face.
Now, the Three-faced Leecher was down to its last heart, last life.
As Rex held the last beating heart neared its stomach cavity, he paused for a brief moment.
It’s a special Voidal Knight. Should I kill it or should I turn it?
Just then, his eyes trailed down to the Three-faced Leecher’s torso and he saw a shimmering object that could be seen through the skin. Rex’s eyes glistened as he scanned it with the System, only to find that it was the Life Gem.
Hesitantly, Rex let go of the Three-faced Leecher’s last heart and grabbed the Life Gem forcefully.
Noticing that Rex showed mercy, it tilted its head in shock.
Naturally, Rex wanted to take the Life Gem but stopped when another stat window appeared.
He used the scanning feature and accidentally scanned another thing other than the Life Gem.
Hmm…? Is there something underground?
As he thought of that, however, a fissure came from behind suddenly, and when it reached Rex and also the Three-faced Leecher, the ground exploded—propelling them both upward. Blinking his eyes, Rex glanced over his shoulder and saw that it was Garvain.
Since he was distracted, Garvain managed to catch him off guard.
Following that, two chakrams flew and slashed both Rex and the Three-faced Leecher repeatedly.
Rex glared at Eiran, who shuddered under his gaze.
Considering that Eiran was the only one who was somewhat of a decent person, Rex thought that he would not participate in the last blow, but he did. It was clear that Eiran had made his choice, and that choice was the Arcalen House.
Swish!
Soon, time slowed down—and a vibrant blue light glowed blindingly above.
Rex tilted his gaze up and realized that it was Istvan, charging his spear to cast his Spirit Genesis.
From underneath, Garvain empowered Istvan using his own life energy.
If Istvan’s Spirit Genesis was already strong enough before, this time, it became destructive.
He was aiming to kill Rex and the Three-faced Leecher in one attack, killing two birds with one stone.
“You’ve served us well, mercenary,” Istvan growled, his spear trembling as it surged with overwhelming power. A radiant azure glow burst forth, pushing back the black winds of the Black Rift with its sheer brilliance. “This is beyond a fully charged Spirit Genesis of mine—the pinnacle of Immortal Spirits’ power. If you survive this, we will concede,”
His eyes then burned with certainty as his grip tightened.
“But unfortunately for you…” He smirked. “Survival is impossible! Spirit Genesis: Arcalenta Spear!”
Swoosh!!
Roar!!
Like an azure shooting star, Istvan threw his spear in a spiral.
A draconic roar resounded from the spear as a water dragon coiled around it, suppressing anything under its might. Rex immediately pulled out his hand from the Three-faced Leecher’s body and sent his Aegis of Moon Sentinel Soul Artifact to protect him but as soon as it made contact with the spear, it shattered into tiny fragments.
Its essence instantly went back to the Soul Artifact mark on Rex’s back.
Rex wanted to activate his Invincible II item but he was a few seconds too late.
However, surprisingly, the Three-faced Leecher put some strength and exchanged their positions.
Not expecting this, Rex’s eyes widened as the monster put its body as a shield for him.
An unnatural move that a monster like him shouldn’t commit.
Kaboom!
Crash!!
Mercilessly, the dragon spear struck with a thunderous crack, slamming Rex into the earth—with the force of a falling star. The ground erupted, dust and debris rocketing skyward as the impact sent violent tremors rippling through the battlefield.
Several dozens of meters away, Istvan landed gracefully.
His lips curled into a triumphant smirk as he turned to Garvain, “It’s done, both of them are dead”
Upon hearing this, Garvain nodded his head in relief.
Even though it was extremely difficult and it was a close call, they managed to emerge victorious.
Had it not for Rex being distracted at the last moment, they wouldn’t be able to handle it.
‘Just what kind of monster was that mercenary,’ Garvain scratched the back of his head, he could now breathe again as the uncertainty of the battle made him forget to breathe earlier. ‘He’s definitely young and yet was already that strong. No doubt about it, he must be exiled from the imperial circle but was raised there’
But before victory could settle, a ragged cough shattered the silence.
Hearing this, Garvain, Istvan, and Eiran’s hearts skipped a beat.
It came from the center of the swirling smoke.
Once the smoke settled, the trio bore witness to the hidden scene.
Rex, blood dripping from his lips, was lying on the ground—with the spear still impaling through the Three-faced Leecher’s body and his chest. As the dust settled, the three could confirm that the Three-faced Leecher was undoubtedly dead.
It was dead right on top of Rex.
Due to how fast the attack was, none of them could see what happened clearly.
But now, the three realized that the Three-faced Leecher used its own body to shield Rex from the spear.
Against all odds, Rex survived Istvan’s Spirit Genesis backed with Garvain’s life energy.
“How could this be…?” Istvan muttered in absolute shock. “That attack should be strong enough to kill even the strongest Immortal Spirits and yet, this… thing, this thing was able to survive that? Alas, that Voidal Knight helped him but still, the explosion of energy should’ve exploded his body!”
Similarly, Garvain was also at a loss for words.
His life energy was almost depleted, and so did Istvan and also Eiran.
If Rex was somehow still able to fight, they would be in trouble.
“We need to kill him right now!!” Garvain shouted and exerted the last ounce of his strength to dash.
Just then, however—Rex laughed through a blood-filled mouth as he raised the Life Gem in his hand.
<Sudden Quest completed!>
<Rainbow Blockage Leaf and Critical Ticket have been rewarded for the user!>
Before the Three-faced Leecher could make his last breath, death from the dragon spear, Rex was able to deal the killing blow and completed the sudden quest. It was his plan all along, to complete this quest and obtain its reward—specifically the Critical Ticket item.
“System…” He muttered, cackling like a madman. “Use the Critical Ticket item”
<Affirmative!>
