Assimilating the Essence of a Demon Lord was not easy, especially one that was as broken and tortured as Tenebris, in fact, it should have been impossible, but Rowan and hence his Reflection were a weird and unique beast because he believed that there was nothing in existence that he could not see through or master, his foundations were simply too potent, and every evolution he went through made his potential to surge to heights that were almost impossible to be measured.

Although his ability to master everything was true in many cases, there was always a limit, but his attitude and willpower had made that limit extremely malleable. He could push past what should be possible even with his perverse talent because he simply refused to believe that he was not capable enough not to achieve what he had set his mind towards.

His existence bent reality to his will far more than any immortal at his level or higher should be able to, and this was reflected here more than anything, in less than a century, the Reflection had been able to purge all the Essence that made it a part of Rowan into a bloodline orb he kept around his waist, and leaving his body as a blank canvas, he began integrating the essence of a Demon Lord into his body.

He had not simply been purging his essence during this time but he had been deliberating and perfecting the process he would be using to make the changes in his body.

Unlike the normal essence of a demon, a Demon Lord’s essence was considered complete, it could not be diluted in a lesser manner to aid digestion, and so the Reflection simply had to take it one step at a time and collect the tiniest portion of the demonic essence that he could and assimilate with.

If the Essence of a Demon Lord was like w city filled with countless skyscrapers, what the Reflection was looking for was not to devour this city brick by brick because you could not dilute the essence, instead, he needed to find the smallest skyscraper in the city and devour that one first.

With his unearthly perception, the Reflection took the smallest portion of the darkness here and began to separate it, looking for the smallest portion of it that he could consume, and if finding this tiny essence was like climbing a mountain that touched the heavens, then tens of thousands of years went by to make a single inch of progress, but the patience and persistence of the Reflection could not be imagined, when millions of years would go by, and it would seem as if not a single hint of progress had been made.

In this realm where there was nothing left but darkness, broken bodies, and madness, time had no meaning, and even for the Reflection, it did not know if billions of years had gone by or if it was just a century, but it did not matter, for hovering in front of him was the smallest distillation of Tenebris Essence, and without hesitation he merged it to his flesh.

His success was a close thing because, unlike Rowan who could gain more lifespan by consuming worlds, this Reflection had nearly spent all of his lifespan in order to find the key to this assimilation, and if a few million years had passed, then he would have collapsed to dust.

When Rowan created these Reflections he had nearly three billion years of lifespan, and that lifespan was reflected in his Reflections in a limited manner as this Reflection could only live for about one and a half billion years.

Reaching this first step was a watershed and since he already familiarised himself with the process of breaking down the Essence of this particular Demon Lord, doing it again would now be almost effortless since he could pick out precisely what he wanted from the ocean of Demonic Essence around him.

There was hope to recover back lifespan once he became a Demon because by his estimation he barely had a few tens of millions of years left. An extremely long time for a mortal, but against the forces he had to deal with coupled with the complexity involved in any interaction of their powers, it was simply a drop in the bucket.

The Reflection had passed the first hurdle, now he needed to pursue the next, however, what happened next, even though it was shocking, was also partially expected.

Despite purging all of his essence to become a Demon, this Reflection was still a piece of Rowan’s dimensional flesh, and when that merger happened with the essence, the transformation was drastic.

The body of the Reflection collapsed into a black egg and remained on the ground for millions of years, burning the few years of its lifespan until it was exhausted. Time eventually weathered this egg into dust revealing the Demon within, and it was a small black fox with a green fluffy tail.

This demon was weak, and it could barely be classified as a Demon Spawn, however, this grading of weak was because of Rowan’s inflated attributes and his twisted idea of what strong and weak meant.

It was true that the first evolution of the Reflection was to become a Demon Spawn, the lowest level of every demonic force, but it could effortlessly rip a Minor god to pieces. It would be later in the future that Rowan would acknowledge that he had created the first Heavenly Demon.

A demonic creature that was born a royalty. A Demon Spawn could barely live past a few centuries, and only those with special bloodlines could live to the threshold of a thousand years or more, but there were extremely few bloodlines with Demon Spawn of this level, yet the lifespan of this Reflection was a million years, after all, no Demon Spawn in existence had ever been created with the complete Essence of a Demon Lord.

Enduring millions of years of evolution and transformation was not the only benefit that was gained by the Reflection, he was able to touch the surface of the Sirens with his dimensional senses, and this could be considered great progress when he could hardly sweep his senses towards this location before he was turned to ash by the power of the spear.

With the first step successful, the Demon Spawn swallowed another tiny portion of Tenebris essence, encasing himself inside a black egg for his evolution. A million years passed, and he emerged a Demon Warrior, nothing much changed about his appearance but his size. Standing barely a dozen feet tall as a Demon Spawn, now he was almost fifty feet tall, his black fur and green tail rippling with unseen winds, but only he knew that this wind was simply from the screams of Tenebris.

The cries of the Demon Lord began to enter into his consciousness when he became a Demon Warrior, at this time it was barely a whisper, but it was a damning potent of what was to come, however, if this would cause him to hesitate never crossed his mind, and satisfied that this body of his could collect more demonic essence, he did not swallow a single portion, but instead directly swallowed a hundred!

With his exceptional control of all forms of energy, the only thing holding back the advancement of the Reflection was his relatively weak constitution, but as a Heavenly Demon Warrior, he was more powerful than an average Demon Warrior by an order of magnitude, it would be foolish to walk as slowly on the paths of power as everyone else.

The evolution this time was extremely violent, even the black egg that formed around the Demon Warrior was hazy, as if the energy inside the egg was so volatile it could not be still long enough for a shell to be created, and that was not far from the truth, as the Reflection had to hold this surging power with his willpower, adding another new aspect to this battle that was terrifying.

When this violent process concluded itself after nearly eleven million years, what stepped out of it was a gigantic fox, hundreds of feet tall, with three large green tails, and from the breath of power emerging from its body, the Reflection had skipped the rank of Demon Captain, Demon General, and proceeded straight to become a Demon’s Duke.
