Chapter 1425: Chapter 1420 His Teaching is Pampering

Yue Xin had been playing around and eventually forgot about her unhappiness, but Chu Xi had been in the side hall, reprimanded severely by Rong Sheng. Tears hung heavy on her eyelashes, but she stubbornly refused to let them fall.

When Rong Sheng disciplined Rong Xi, her temperament, though different from a child’s, sometimes resembled her own: cold and merciless. But she never initiated physical punishment, thus her sense of powerlessness.

This made Rong Sheng feel that after spending too much time with Chu Yifeng, she had picked up some of his habits.

But she was not Chu Yifeng; she didn’t have his remarkable ability and his detached status.

She couldn’t afford to act so recklessly!

“Mother…” Chu Xi knew she had misspoken, and hurriedly corrected herself, “Aunt Rong Sheng, I want to see Father.”

Rong Sheng’s lips tightened slightly, “I’ll apply the medicine to him.”

With that, she turned and walked behind the screen.

Chu Yifeng, sitting on the bed, looked at her with a playful gaze, “Does Her Majesty not like this prince’s daughter?”

Rong Sheng’s expression was cold and unfazed, “With no feelings involved, there’s no need to pretend.”

She had no intention of letting Chu Yifeng learn about Chu Xi’s lineage; after all, even if he didn’t know of their blood relation, he still treated Chu Xi with great love and affection. It might be best not to tell him and avoid unnecessary trouble.

Now, she was finally getting on better terms with him.

Rong Sheng reached out to untie his belt, asking him to take off his clothes so she could apply the ointment and secure the bandage.

Her slender fingers moved with dexterity, occasionally grazing his skin, feeling the heat of his body like a blazing flame.

Rong Sheng’s earlobes began to redden slightly.

As a doctor, she could treat both genders with an undistracted mind, but with Chu Yifeng, she somehow lost control and even felt… shy.

“Sister, haven’t you had your fill of looking at this prince’s body? If you like, this prince can undress completely tonight for a better view,” Chu Yifeng teased shamelessly, with a laugh that was both flirtatious and offending.

It was his usual style.

Even Rong Sheng felt a hint of irritation.

She finished up, packed the medicine box, and in closing it, she almost pinched her hand.

“Sister, don’t panic.” Chu Yifeng’s scorching palm enveloped her pale hands. Though he had done nothing much, the touch suggested otherwise, “Chu Yifeng, this is the imperial palace!”

Rong Sheng struggled to pull her hands free.

“This prince has done nothing. What’s on your mind, Sister?” Chu Yifeng spoke with feigned innocence.

Rong Sheng was too frustrated to speak to him anymore, but with Chu Xi still waiting outside, she suppressed her embarrassed anger and still needed to make things clear to Chu Yifeng, “Chu Xi… she’s your daughter, but you cannot spoil her. Today, you stood up for her, but if this continues, she’ll think she can do anything. It’s clearly her fault. She shouldn’t have hit first. She should have apologized immediately after bumping into someone. You should properly teach her.”

Chu Yifeng scoffed at the idea of teaching her.

He was someone who only spoiled his daughter—if someone bullied her, they deserved death.

He certainly wouldn’t blame the child.

She could do whatever she loved.

But when Rong Sheng saw that unrestrained look in his eyes, she grew angry. This was the Sister that he had coaxed back with almost half his life. Although he had forgotten their past, he still couldn’t stand to see her frown. So, he replied obligingly, “This prince understands.”

He went out, picked up Chu Xi, and, just for show, said, “In the future, you must not hit others again.”

Chu Xi lowered her head and pressed her lips together tightly, turning slightly blue, “I understand, Daddy.”

Rong Sheng was quite pleased and walked out with them to see Su Yingxue.

As soon as she had left, Chu Yifeng whispered in Chu Xi’s ear, “From tomorrow on, practice martial arts with Daddy. Next time you encounter this situation, show no mercy. Those who bully you may be killed—Daddy will protect you.”

Chu Xi’s eyes immediately lit up. “Really, Daddy!”

“Of course, it’s true. Even if the sky were to fall, Daddy would hold it up for you.” Chu Yifeng stroked her nose tenderly and cradled her in his arms.

Chu Xi was overjoyed. She was going to start practicing martial arts with Daddy, but she would not recklessly kill people. What made her happy was that, right or wrong, no matter what she did, Daddy would spoil her without asking for reasons.

This was a unique favoritism.

Her Daddy was the best in the world.

After Chu Heng had finished playing with Yue Xin and the sky had turned dark, since the Phoenix Perch Palace had suffered some damage, Su Yingxue and Chu Yihan decided to host a banquet in Yaohua Hall to entertain the families of Chu Yifeng and Yue Lian’s mother and daughter.

They hoped for a reconciliation.

Yue Lian was a woman who understood the bigger picture and did not take the children’s scuffles to heart. She took the initiative to toast to Chu Yifeng, asking him to calm his anger and not hold a grudge against Yue Xin any longer.

Chu Yifeng glanced at Chu Xi. Since she had let it go, he generously drank the toast.

Initially, Rong Sheng wanted Chu Xi to apologize to Yue Xin.

Because it was Chu Xi who had bumped into Yue Xin and also Chu Xi who had started the fight, but Chu Xi refused.

She sat between Chu Yifeng and Rong Sheng, stubbornly clutching her hands, pursing her lips till they turned pale, without uttering a sound.

“Please do me this favor, instructor,” pleaded Chu Yifeng.

“Don’t make things difficult for my daughter anymore,” he added, asking for a favor.

Rong Sheng’s gaze deepened. This was her daughter, too.

“Alright, since Xi’er is unwilling to apologize, let’s not dwell on it. I have two gifts here for them, in hopes that they will be happy and play more with Heng’er,” announced Su Yingxue with a wave of her hand, and Ting Lan, accompanied by others, brought two trays to the front of Yue Xin and Chu Xi.

Yue Xin was curious about what Su Yingxue would give her, having fewer reservations, she immediately opened the box to look. “Eh… What is this?”

She was drawn to the carved sandalwood box, but upon opening it, she found several books?

In contrast, Chu Xi didn’t want to open hers in public. However, Rong Sheng looked at her, indicating she should open it and then thank Su Yingxue. So she opened the box.

Seeing that it contained gemstone bead flowers and butterfly hairpins for girls, Chu Xi, without any sign of enthusiasm, approached Su Yingxue, “Thank you for the empress’s grace.”

Beside her, Yue Xin also held her box and knelt to give thanks to Su Yingxue.

The items in each other’s hands instantly attracted them.

Chu Xi softly muttered, “An album…”

It was indeed an album of medical drawings personally illustrated by the empress!

“How beautiful these butterflies are!” exclaimed Yue Xin, her eyes wide with admiration at the two little butterflies adorned with various gemstones, sparkling so brightly she almost drooled.

Yet, frustratingly, they were gifts from the empress to Chu Xi!

“Hmph!” Yue Xin pouted unhappily and returned to her seat.

Chu Xi’s expression wasn’t any better either.

Chu Heng sat beside Chu Yihan, silently sipping the juice in his cup and exchanging glances with his mother.

Su Yingxue seemed to be asking him, “Will this strategy work?”

Chu Heng nodded firmly, “Mother only needs to wait and see.”

At the banquet, the adults had endless conversations. Chu Yifeng and Chu Yihan were drinking, and Chu Yihan even praised Yue Lian for providing many machines during the recent war, contributing significantly to the military campaign, and awarded her handsomely for her indispensable efforts.
