Chapter 1467: Chapter 1462: The Peril of Chu Yifeng

Su Yingxue was severely injured after a combat encounter, but she was completely outmatched.

Zi Wei was injured, Su Yingxue went missing, and even he himself was seriously hurt, which made him even more worried about Chu Yihan.

He is the sovereign of the Great Cheng Dynasty; they, as his loyal subjects, must protect Chu Yihan at all costs, even if it means sacrificing everything.

“Emperor, I believe we must immediately recall the Eighth Prince. Prince Jingling has already gone missing en route. The next one could very well be the Eighth Prince.”

Zhuo Junli’s brows were deeply furrowed as he spoke in a low voice.

Chu Yihan held half of the jade pendant in his hand, his eyes deep and profound. It was a heirloom from his mother, he and Chu Yifeng each holding a half. Now that something had happened to Jinling, he had already sent people to inform Chu Yifeng, but the Shadow Guards had not yet returned.

Chu Yifeng and the other two, he had no news of them.

If even he…

Chu Yihan’s head suddenly throbbed with intense pain, causing all the nerves in his body to tense up.

“Damn it!” Chu Yihan clenched his teeth.

Su Hao, Zhuo Junli, and Lu Mian immediately became anxious. Su Hao shouted, “Quick, summon the court physician!”

Liuzhou.

Behind Chu Yifeng, only three Shadow Guards remained, all dispatched by Chu Yihan to protect Chu Yifeng and escort him safely back to Jiang Du City. However, they were ambushed by a large contingent en route, their identities not revealed, but they resembled a well-trained army. The numbers were so vast that even the extraordinary individuals from the Ghost Market suffered heavy losses.

Chu Yifeng fought against the assailants with the Shadow Guards covering the rear, allowing Chu Yifeng to temporarily escape their pursuit with Rong Sheng and Chu Xi.

“Daddy…”

Chu Xi, held in Rong Sheng’s arms, saw another wound on Chu Yifeng’s shoulder and whispered softly with her lips pursed.

Her rosy lips were already bloodied from biting them too hard. She could not cry out too loudly lest it affect her father, yet she was deeply worried.

“Don’t be afraid, he won’t be harmed.”

Rong Sheng held Chu Xi standing behind Chu Yifeng, his gaze cool, his voice solid.

Chu Yifeng unsheathed his Soft Sword, and three flashes of cold light streaked across the air, “Snap, snap, snap!”

After three sounds, the shadowy figures in front immediately fell.

On the plain, Chu Yifeng exhaled a long breath and re-sheathed his Soft Sword at his waist.

Returning to Rong Sheng’s side, he wiped the blood from his face, his eyes gleaming with a bewitching charm, “Were you scared?”

Rong Sheng gave him no heed, her gaze fixed on his shoulder, “Ordinary assassins wouldn’t be able to harm you in the slightest, there’s something odd about the identities of these men.”

Chu Yifeng’s martial arts were not to be underestimated; grown up in the Silver Moon Pavilion, he had been the Pavilion Master for many years, not someone who could be easily injured. Yet during this series of escapes, he had sustained light wounds.

This made Rong Sheng feel uneasy.

“These are well-trained soldiers, likely internal traitors from the Great Cheng Dynasty, no telling from where they infiltrated. Persistent and numerous, Your Highness could not have remained unharmed, not to mention, Your Highness still worried about his wife and child, got distracted while thinking how to soothe you.”

Chu Yifeng teased, reaching out to touch Rong Sheng’s face.

Her face so beautiful, with slender willow eyebrows, cool phoenix eyes, cinnabar red lips, a fairy-like visage, yet so cold!

“Stand still.”

Rong Sheng put down Chu Xi, took out golden wound medicine and bandages from her medicine pouch, and applied them to Chu Yifeng’s wound. Chu Yifeng smirked, “My dear wife, you do care for your husband.”

Rong Sheng looked up at him, a cold gaze in her eyes.

His mouth, as ever, was vulgar.

She had never agreed to be his wife.

“Your Highness knows, you’re willing to marry me. As for Zuo Qingqing, I really have nothing to do with her. I can’t remember our past, how could I still remember her? To me, she’s just a stranger.”

Chu Yifeng’s hand was about to touch her head when he noticed the blood on his palm and promptly switched to his other hand, gently caressing her cheek.

This was one of his rare moments, being earnest and tender in his words.

Rong Sheng felt a slight touch in her heart, her movements became gentler, and she displayed more patience.

“Daddy, can you please stop getting hurt?” Chu Xi looked up at the Lord with pleading eyes. She was helpless to assist but couldn’t bear to see her Daddy injured.

With one arm, Chu Yifeng lifted her up, pressed his forehead against hers, and chuckled, “No one can hurt Daddy.”

“Is that so?”

A burst of laughter filled the air.

The smile on Chu Yifeng’s face instantly turned into one of vigilance.

He immediately stuffed Chu Xi into Rong Sheng’s arms, then turned around to protect both of them, his expression turning icy.

The laughter, carrying with it an immense inner strength and penetrating power, originated from a distant place. Although the laugher was still far off, his voice arrived ahead of him.

Rong Sheng whispered softly, “Your wound hasn’t been properly bandaged yet.”

“Hold onto Xi’er tight and get moving.”

Chu Yifeng felt an overwhelming sense of oppression and danger.

Whoever was approaching was likely no ordinary individual.

Rong Sheng sensed the wind around her suddenly turn bitterly cold. She obeyed Chu Yifeng, lifting Chu Xi into her arms. Before she could even blink, a shadow accompanied by a gust of violent wind surged towards them, leaving her no time to step aside.

“Go!”

“Thud!”

Chu Yifeng only had time to push them away before a heavy palm strike landed squarely on his chest, sending him flying. He couldn’t even manage to turn and land properly, falling to the ground like a bird with injured wings.

“Cough!”

Rolling over, he spat out a mouthful of blood and looked up at the attacker.

Such domineering martial arts!

Fast, fierce, and ruthless!

He was utterly powerless to defend himself!

Hua Qingluo, with her purple brocade boots, stepped onto the ground and strolled toward Chu Yifeng, a faint smile playing on her lips, “Eighth Prince and Pavilion Master of the Silver Moon Pavilion, overseeing the Ghost Market, you’ve been in Jiang Du City for two years now—your Ghost Market affiliates must be dwindling, aren’t they?”

Chu Yifeng’s power mainly lay in Yungui City, and due to Chu Yihan’s influence, he had ceased much of the Ghost Market’s operations. His followers gradually became more upright, resulting in a lack of protective crowd around him. On top of that, being engrossed in safeguarding his wife and child, he was naturally unable to withstand this surprise attack.

Now, with severe injuries to his heart meridian, he was even less of a match.

Chu Yifeng, leaning on his Soft Sword for support, wiped the blood from his lips, his eyes carrying a bewitching charm, “So it was you, the one who brought harm to those around Chu Yihan?”

Hua Qingluo laughed softly, her voice laced with disdain, “What if it was? Does the Eighth Prince still have the strength to contend with me?”

“Heh! Someone who doesn’t even dare to show their true face dares to speak of contending with me?” Chu Yifeng’s Soft Sword danced in his hand, tracing a beautiful sword flower in the air.

Hua Qingluo drew her long sword, its edge glinting cold and bloodthirsty.

“Qingfeng Sword?” Chu Yifeng’s eyes narrowed instantly. This person’s sword was identical to Chu Yifeng’s Qingfeng Sword?

No!

The one in his hand was a replica.

Copying even the sword of Chu Yihan, his obsession with Chu Yihan must have been going on for more than just a day or two.

Rong Sheng felt more anxious than ever before; she had never witnessed anyone with higher martial arts skills than Chu Yifeng, not even Chu Yihan had fought to the death with Chu Yifeng in such a way. Every blow was lethal; where their sword edges passed, not a blade of grass remained, the very earth splitting apart!
