Vampire's Slice Of Life

Chapter 1178: Half Emperor Rank

Chapter 1178: Half Emperor Rank

"Come."

The bird screeched and shot like a bullet.

It fazed in and out of existence and moved in a weird trajectory, confusing Lith.

Still, it followed the same principles as its underlings, albeit with a smoother and better flow.

It was flashing like a blinker and when Lith least expected it, the bird ripped his back with its sharp clawed feet.

It was extremely painful, as if someone had poured boiling hot oil on his back.

Lith felt dizzy, but using the Time element again, went back to the moment he was completely fine and teleported to and fro at different places.

Catching the bird was getting difficult.

'I can use multiple elemental energies, but the cost of spiritual power would be tremendous. My spiritual power wouldn't regenerate as fast and I would end up losing.'

Using all the elements was not feasible.

He thought about it and decided to add only one extra element to the Space-Time mix.

It was Darkness.

A thin layer of black covered Lith's entire body as he chanted a Darkness spell.

He zapped around through teleportation, creating checkpoints where he could go back to.

Though he kept it relatively simple for the bird to attack.

It seized the opportunity right away and attack him, ripping off his arm and throwing it into the void.

Lith went back in time, to his previous checkpoint, and continued teleporting after returning.

The process repeated four times.

Lith stopped moving after that when he saw the bird screeching and flying crazily in the air.

It went in and out of existence, as if glitching, and continued to screech.

Its body began decaying and in no time, it turned into bones, and then into a fine powder, dying completely.

Lith smiled.

'So you did have a limit to moving in the past and future…'

The bird could only move about a couple of minutes in the past and future.

Lith had a grasp of it and let it slowly get corrupted by Darkness.

As time passed, even if the bird went in the past, it would still be affected by the element and won't be able to recover.

'It was fun while it lasted.' Lith thought and went in and out of the past to recover his body.

He glanced below and eyed the Minotaur and Centaur.

"Your turn."

Lith flew down.

The two monsters grunted and readied themselves for battle.

From a distance, Lith sent a Lightning spear towards the two.

It touched their bodies and broke, not even scratching them.

Lith then manifested a sword of pure Destruction and threw it.

It did make them grunt, but that was it.

Their bodies regenerated quickly and they were quite tanky, so the damage was minor.

'Are my range attacks weak or are they immune to those? What's happening?'

Lith flew down until he was in range of the two.

The Minotaur let out a cattle's cry and jumped on Lith while the Centaur let out a humanoid scream and charged at him with its galloping horse feet.

Lith flew in the air and avoided the collision.

The spot he was at had spears come out of the void and hit the two.

They screamed as a good part of their body was gone.

Lith stared at what they would do next.

Their bodies that were gone regenerated again. There were no problems, surprising Lith.

He went in close range again and hit the Minotaur's back with his sharp vampire nails.

They were imbued with Darkness element and should corrupt it.

The Minotaur's body began healing and purged the corruption.

Lith was confused.

What was he supposed to do to defeat them?

He flew down again and hit the Centaur's horseback with his nails, ripping away a piece with pure Destruction energy.

It screamed in agony and thrashed around.

Lith did not show mercy and flew down again, clawing it.

He had a glimpse of the Centaur's regeneration. It was fast. As fast as Lith's very own.

This was thus quite a troublesome matter.

'I have burst magic but it won't one-shot them. They are quite immune to magic attacks.'

Since such was the case, there was only one way left to defeat them.

'Close combat it is.'

Lith flew down again.

The two came charging and this time Lith did not run away.

He dodged and attacked the Minotaur trying to smash Lith's body to a pulp.

He then clawed the Centaur and went back to attacking the Minotaur.

In the series of parrying and attacking, he was hit multiple times.

The good thing was that Lith's regeneration abilities were strong.

The bad thing was that the two monsters' was similar.

It was exhausting to fight in such a manner.

If it was just one, Lith wouldn't have as difficult of a time.

Technically speaking, if it was any other King Rank, they would not survive it.

They were a hundred percent going to die.

It seemed simple from afar but was taxing and difficult indeed.

The two monsters did not have high damage like the raven but they were so tanky that Lith had to double the efforts to hurt them even slightly.

For a whole week.

A whole week Lith was against these two, attacking and defending.

Their flesh was slowly chipped away with Destruction element and only Lith knew how exhausting it was.

The tribulation came to an end with a golden light enveloping Lith.

Unlike the past, it did not shoot a pillar into the skies and alerted everyone.

Lith was back in the normal world after his tribulation ended.

He felt stronger and sturdier than ever.

There was also a strange feeling brushing over him.

He did not have time to analyze it as the internal tribulation was on its way.

He had to go to his Magic Core and survive it.

…..

The internal tribulation arrived.

A void was created and from it arrived monsters that wreaked havoc and destruction in his core.

Except Time, no other elemental energies worked on them.

As they were beings born from the void, Space element would naturally not be of help.

Just like the ravens, Lith chipped away pieces of the monsters' bodies.

They had almost instant healing as they were beings of the void.

Though they healed by absorbing the chipped piece.

Their bodies were indestructible and Lith was only able to cut them using the Space element.

Even if he cut these monsters into fine pieces and scattered them across the universe, they would be able to assimilate and be normal.

So, there was only one logical way to beat them.

He took the piece of their body and went a split second ahead in time.

The monster's body, finding the piece of its body to have lost, did not have the healing effect go on.

When it found its piece in the next instant, it treated it as foreign matter rather than its own.

This way, Lith was able to cut them all up and survived the tribulation.

The corpses of the void monsters were beneficial and since they wouldn't decay or rot, Lith piled them and put them in a corner of his core.

All the tribulations were done.

Lith was finally in the Half Emperor Rank!

He felt a surge of power flow through him and for the next few months, he sat down and consolidated his cultivation.

When Lith was finished, he decided to check up on the strange feeling he had after defeating the raven.

Closing his eyes, Lith focused on this feeling.

In the darkness, he heard a baby's cry.

As his vision cleared up he saw his mother, holding a silver-haired baby.

It was him.

The scene went back.

There was another blurry figure of a lady. She was holding a human baby whose face was also blurry.

Looking at the surroundings, it was a hospital from Earth.

This was probably Lith's first life.

The scene changed and in his vision, Lith saw multiple pregnant ladies.

They were of all sorts of races and ages.

If Lith focused too much on one lady, he felt his consciousness get sucked towards her.

This was bad.

He abruptly opened his eyes.

"Wow… that was… something."

What Lith just saw couldn't be described into mere words.

If he wasn't wrong and his guess was correct, he just gained a power that allowed him to regress or reincarnate.

He could go back in the past or in the future, wherever he wanted.

Though, this power posed multiple questions.

Could Lith only reincarnate once? Or could he do it multiple times?

What will happen to his current self if he reincarnated?

After reincarnation, will everything even be the same?

Was the timeline the same too?

Multiple. Multiple questions popped up in his head and they all led him to think of one answer—it was not worth it.

It was not worth it to reincarnate. He had everything in the world and reincarnating would just mean throwing it all away.

Lith had no attachments to his life on Earth, and he also disliked the idea of becoming a baby again.

Smiling, Lith shook his head and thought, 'Well, if it's the worst of the worst scenario, I'll think about it. But I don't think I'll need this power. It's quite useless, despite being overpowered.'
