2721 Overwhelming Backing
In response to the Teng Clan Patriarch's words, Lin Mu merely smirked, shaking his head in amusement. His eyes gleamed with an unshakable confidence, as if he found the entire situation beneath his concern. He stood relaxed, his presence alone enough to command attention.
"This fool..." The Grand Elder of the Teng Clan rubbed his temples in frustration. He had seen arrogance before, but never had he encountered someone who carried it with such justification.
"Who dares!?" A fierce voice rang out, filled with righteous fury.
"Amitabha, this monk shall not stand for such injustice." Another calm yet powerful voice followed, resonating through the gathering like the toll of a temple bell.
Two figures stepped forward, their presence shifting the atmosphere. Behind them stood a handful of formidable individuals, each radiating an aura of mastery and strength. The expressions of the Teng Clan members changed as they recognized the power behind these newcomers.
"Daoist Chu, Monk Hushu," Lin Mu greeted them with a small nod, as if their arrival was nothing more than expected.
"Trouble sure knows how to find you," Daoist Chu said with a wry smile, folding his arms as he assessed the scene before him.
"You should have told us sooner," Monk Hushu added, his serene expression betraying a hint of disapproval, though it was tempered by understanding.
"I didn't want to disturb you two," Lin Mu replied nonchalantly, though his smirk remained, as if to say that the matter was hardly something he could not handle himself.
The battlefield had shifted once again. And now, the real game was about to begin.
"Haha, we'd never be bothered if you called us, Daoist Lin Mu," Daoist Chu said. "Especially when the trouble involves such... unwise individuals." His gaze turned toward the Teng Clan, filled with subtle disdain.
"Amitabha, Daoist Chu is correct. We will always stand by your side," Monk Hushu nodded solemnly, his tranquil presence acting as an unshakable pillar of support.
"Thank you." Lin Mu inclined his head. "I thought I had settled matters, but it seems some people are eager to throw themselves into the fire." He cast an amused glance at the Teng Clan, his tone dripping with confidence.
"Hmph! I'll see whether they have any brains left or not," Daoist Chu said, stepping forward.
"Who are you?" the Teng Clan Patriarch questioned, his voice laced with growing uncertainty.
"Who am I?" Daoist Chu raised an eyebrow, as if the very question was an insult. "I am Daoist Chu, a trainee of the Western Immortal Court and disciple of the Zenith Dao Sect from the Kunshan World!" His words struck like thunder.
The crowd erupted in gasps.
"Someone from the Immortal Court?!" the Patriarch muttered in disbelief.
"What's the Zenith Dao Sect?" one of the Teng Clan members whispered.
"I don't know... I've never heard of it."
"Wait..." An elder's face paled. "If it's the Zenith Dao Sect... there's only one such sect. It's one of the top ten sects of the entire Western Immortal Court!"
A collective gasp followed, as realization dawned upon the Teng Clan members.
And then Monk Hushu spoke.
"I am Monk Hushu of the Green Lotus Temple of the Silent Lotus World. I, too, am a trainee of the Immortal Court," he declared with an unwavering voice.
More shocked murmurs spread through the gathered crowd.
"The Green Lotus Temple is also among the top powers of the Western Immortal Court, isn't it?" one of the merchants from the Ten Petal Company asked.
"Yes, while they are not classified as an Immortal Sect due to their Buddhist nature, they are still comparable in power." Another nodded solemnly.
With such formidable figures standing beside Lin Mu, the Teng Clan instinctively took a step back. Even the Grand Elder and First Elder were shaken.
'Just who is he that he has such allies?' the Grand Elder thought, sweat forming on his brow.
Daoist Chu smirked at their reactions. But he was far from finished.
"Does the Teng Clan still dare act against my friend?" he taunted.
The Teng Clan Patriarch clenched his fists. He could not afford to retreat without losing face. "And who is he that can destroy a sect like this, commit heinous crimes, and be left scot-free?!" he challenged.
"Who is he?" Daoist Chu scoffed. "You stand in the presence of Daoist Lin Mu. Winner of the Tournament of the Four Guardian Beasts, Honored Guest of Spatial Master and High Elder Liu Bei of the Western Immortal Court, Spatial Master and Temple Head Xing Duyi of the Four Guardian Beasts, Imperial Imperator of the Feng Imperial Dynasty of the Rust Sky World, Honored Guest of the Shang Imperial Dynasty of the Three Aster World, and the Honored Guest of the Great Kang Clan!" His voice thundered across the gathering.
Each title struck like a hammer blow, leaving the Teng Clan Patriarch visibly shaken.
And then another voice spoke.
"Any enemy of Lord Lin Mu is an enemy of the Ten Petal Company!" A man in luxurious robes stepped forward.
Gasps filled the air.
"The Owner of the Ten Petal Company!" someone exclaimed.
"Lord Lin Mu is a venerated VIP of our company. Any offense to him is an offense to us. Consider all business dealings with us terminated from this moment onwards," the company owner declared.
The Teng Clan Patriarch felt as if the ground beneath him had crumbled.
And yet, there was still more.
"Amitabha!" Another figure stepped forward. An elderly monk, his aura radiating an ancient wisdom. "Such pure Buddhist Aura... Monk Hushu, you were not jesting when you spoke of him."
Lin Mu inclined his head, sensing the man's significance.
"This is the Abbot of the Buddhist Temple here," Monk Hushu introduced.
"I pay my respects to the Abbot," Lin Mu said respectfully.
"Such good and humble manners," the Abbot smiled. Then his gaze hardened. "I cannot face the Buddha if I let such injustice go unpunished. The Buddhist Temple shall not stand for this."
By now, the Teng Clan Patriarch was drenched in cold sweat.
