Chapter 1896: Some Family Time
“They came here?” Grey did not expect his friends to come looking for him at the Dawson Manor. This was completely out of his expectations, but thinking about it, it was within the characters of his friends to search for him if they could not contact him, especially Klaus.
Martha nodded before telling him the important information, “Your father is in Red City.”
“Huh? That Red City?” Grey was taken aback and asked in a haste. Hearing his father returned to Red City was not news he was expecting to receive after just returning from the Inner Court. He was born in Red City, so hearing his father returned there brought up some old memories, including the ones where his father disappeared without a trace.
“Yes.” Martha nodded before explaining the whole situation to him.
When they got news Gnomes were trying to open up the major portal that was sealed in the Azure Continent, they sent people out to intercept them. At first, Lucas’s help was not needed as the party sent there held out against the Gnomes and Necromancers pretty easily. However, a sudden change occurred when a Half God Plane Gnome appeared in the Azure Continent.
The Gnome wiped out the group, seriously injuring the Half God Plane expert who rushed there to help. Luckily, Lucas was sent out in time and he was able to force back the Gnomes from breaching the place where the portal was sealed.
Hearing about the arrival of a Half God Plane Gnome, Grey’s expression turned dark. He had crossed paths with a Peak Gnome and knew just how powerful they were. Any Half God Plane Gnome would definitely be a dangerous foe. He feared for the safety of his father, but he was also confident that his father was strong enough to hold back the Gnomes with a single Half God Plane expert.
Martha studied Grey’s expression and noticed the slight trace of worry in his eyes, recalling something she added, “Oh, lest I forget, your Teacher, Chris if I’m not mistaken, is there with your father.”
“Teacher?”
This was another news Grey did not expect to hear at all. To be honest, he had not been in contact with his Teacher for quite some time now. The last time he had any meaningful contact with his Teacher was when he came to the Aurora Continent for a task. Hearing that his Teacher was with his father, he did not know how to react. In the end, he smiled knowing that at least his Teacher was alive.
Martha nodded before asking, “What do you plan to do now?”
“I’ll meet up with my friends first. If there’s nothing here for us to do, I think we’ll return to the Azure Continent to help out. I know they are worried about their families there.” Grey replied.
With the exception of himself and Klaus, both Alice and Reynolds’s families were in the Azure Continent, and he was sure they would be worried about them.
Grey’s reply was within Martha’s expectations. She told him of her intentions to join his father, and how he was the only reason she did not go with him when he was sent out the first time. Cory and Eisendrache would be going with her, something Grey did not have any problems with.
The duo continued conversing for a while as Martha inquired about his trip to the secret world located in the Inner Court, she was a little curious about it. Most top experts are curious about the Inner Court, and since very few people are allowed entry, she had never been able to visit it.
Grey did not hold back much from her, telling her of his pursuit in the secret world, and how he accidentally sensed the presence of some Necromancers in the Inner Court when he left the secret world.
Martha listened to his story with some worry, even though Grey skipped the details of the pursuit, she could guess just how dangerous it was. Looking at her son, she could not help but shake her head slightly, her son was no longer a child, even though she knew this, she still saw him the same way.
“Wait, did you say you fought a Peak Sovereign?”
She was slightly emotional when Grey was telling her about the story, so she did not react at first, and it was only after a while did she process the fact that Grey said he fought with multiple Peak Sovereigns in the secret realm. Her eyes twitched repeatedly at the thought of this. She was a genius in her own right, but she was not able to fight with a Peak Sovereign while in the Eighth stage.
Grey nodded casually. It was not that he was trying to be smug, but it was not really something he saw as a big deal given what he is capable of achieving. If he could still access the Fusion State, then he was certain that he would have been able to deal with Peak Sovereigns while he was in the Third or Fourth stage of the Sovereign Plane.
At the thought of the Fusion State, he could not help but sigh. The Fusion State has saved his life on too many occasions, so when he lost access to use it, he lost a very important trump card and has been very careful since then.
Martha looked at Grey’s casual expression as he replied to her question, muttering to herself what sort of monster her son was. Even though she expected something like this given how he is able to use all elements, it is still shocking to hear. At the moment, she was still at the Peak of the Sovereign Plane, which meant that she was no stronger than Grey was. If she knew that at the time Grey fought with the Peak Sovereign he was still a Seventh stage Sovereign, she would be beyond shocked. Putting that by the side, she spoke with Grey a little longer, telling him to stay for the rest of the day.
Grey did not have any objections to this, he had been on the road for quite some time now, so he did not mind getting some rest. He did not even try to reach out to Klaus and the others, opting to do it tomorrow.
