Chapter 1898: Slip Of Tongue

Chapter 1898: Slip Of Tongue

“Gnomes sneaked into the Inner Court?” Kyle was shocked at the news of Gnomes being able to enter the Inner Court. Not just him, Alice, Reynolds, and Klaus were also surprised by the news.

They all knew just how hard it was to enter the Inner Court, even with the help of a Magical Beast Clan, it would be almost impossible to enter without being noticed.

“Yeah, they even managed to create a puppet from a dead Toad that is quite powerful.” Grey told them of how he almost lost his life to the controlled previous Toad Clan Leader who was already dead.

“If they add Magical Beasts to their puppets then we will be in serious trouble.” Alice commented.

Everyone had the same worry as her, the Gnomes and Necromancers were already very hard to deal with as it is, being able to control dead Magical Beasts would make them even more dangerous. Magical Beasts were largely superior to their human counterparts, and only people like Grey and his friends could defeat those in the same cultivation stage or even a stage higher.

“There’s no need to worry about that for now. If I’m not wrong they were still in the testing process.” Grey reassured them. If the previous Toad Clan Leader Elder Pondwyn was controlling had its full strength, there was no way Grey would have been able to escape from its attack, this was something he was sure of after seeing how easy it was for the Toad Clan Leader to deal with Elder Pondwyn who he could barely fight.

“Since you said the Magical Beasts’s Clans do not have any intentions of betraying us, they will be more cautious henceforth and ensure something like this never happens again.” Klaus spoke after hearing Grey’s reassurance. From how the Magical Beasts reacted, it was clear that they did not support the Gnomes or Necromancers, which was a huge relief to them.

“Yeah, Sir Astarot promised to make the other Clan Leaders do routine checks every three days.” Grey nodded, not concerned about the matter of the Magical Beasts’ Forest, looking at them he said, “I believe you are aware of what’s happening in the Azure Continent.”

Klaus, Reynolds, and Alice nodded, while Kyle looked at them with a strange expression. He did not know of this Azure Continent they were speaking of.

“What do you guys think we should do?” Grey asked. They had already caught up with each other and it was time to get down to business.

“We’ll go of course.” Klaus declared immediately the question was asked, there was no hesitation in his voice. Reynolds and Alice nodded as well, they too would very much like to return and help out their birth Continent.

Grey expected such a reply, so he was not surprised at how quickly they all agreed to help out. Even if he did not ask, he knew they would have brought it up.

“Alright. When do we set out?” Grey asked after a short silence, and he noticed everyone turning to Klaus.

He looked at Klaus, only to see him wearing a goofy smile.

“What?” He was a little curious about the reason Klaus was smiling in that manner.

“After we left the Dawson Manor, we actually made a stop before coming to meet up with Kyle…” Klaus started speaking, and the more Grey heard, the more shocked he was.

“You’ll be getting married before we leave?” Grey was taken aback by Klaus’s plan. From what he knew, Klaus had been dating his current girlfriend for a few years now, and to be honest, he was quite surprised Klaus was planning to get married.

Klaus nodded, still with his goofy smile which made Grey and the others burst into a fit of laughter.

“Congratulations man, we need to celebrate.” Grey walked over and wrapped one of his arms around Klaus’s shoulder, although the news came as a surprise to him, he was genuinely happy for Klaus. When they were younger, Klaus was going from one girl to another frequently, so seeing him settle with his present current made him happy for his friend.

“Thinking of it, the last time I went to the Azure Continent, someone was getting married.” Grey said, giving Alice a cheeky smile.

“Yea…” Klaus and Reynolds were about to chip in when they sensed a chill from behind them, and they hurriedly shut their mouths. Grey still had a smile on, but quickly realized something was wrong when he saw the pitiful gaze Kyle was staring at him with. Only then did he realize that he had accidentally touched a topic he should not have.

With an awkward laugh, he turned to Alice as he tried to explain, “I… I didn’t… wait, stop.”

“I only want to talk to you.” Alice said with a sweet smile, but the cold aura coming from her said otherwise.

Grey started sweating buckets. Yes, he is stronger than Alice, but he can never fight back, especially when he was the one who was in the wrong.

“It’s was only a slip of tongue, nothing like that ever happened.” He explained, still flustered.

“Should we help you hold him down?” Klaus, who Grey had one arm around his shoulder had already grabbed onto Grey as he asked. He would never let go of an opportunity to beat Grey up. Alone, he knew Grey would beat him. However, Grey has stepped on the tail of the tigress, and being good friends with the tigress, it was only right that he assisted her.

Grey tried to get away, only to find both Reynolds and Kyle staring down at him.

‘Fuck! Fuck!’

Alice walked closer to him, radiating a cold chill with the smile still on her face.

At this moment, Grey knew he was done for, he could not escape, with no other choice, resigned himself to his fate. Besides, it was not the first time he was getting beat up by Alice. Gritting his teeth, he plotted his revenge on the trio who betrayed him at the crucial moment.
