Beast Tamer Ascension

Book 2: Chapter 11: Flying Leaf Spatial Technique!

Vol 2 Chapter 11: Flying Leaf Spatial Technique!

“Genius of the same race, my foot!

How could an unintelligent plant suddenly become a so-called genius?!”

Lin Jing felt the Elder Shen Pine was acting odd—almost as if it was trying to lure him into becoming a demonic cultivator.

It seemed like one of those situations where someone who had already fallen into trouble wanted to drag others down with them.

The Shen Pine scolded in frustration, “I’ve even agreed to help you, yet you don’t seize the opportunity!

“Dawdling like this, once the hundred-year protection period passes, you won’t even form a Core, and my first attempt at safeguarding cultivators will end in utter embarrassment!”

Lin Jing took a deep breath and, after some serious thought, responded, “Alright.

“Since Senior is so insistent, I’ll trouble you to lend a hand!

“It’s fine if we lose a genius of the same race, but don’t let anything happen to the Pine Leaf Mouse!”

“That’s more like it.” The Shen Pine, now in its pinecone form, cracked open in satisfaction.

Lin Jing convinced himself.

A mature Fifth-Grade spatial spirit herb, while incredibly rare and potent, would likely take an eternity to fully utilize.

It was better to use it now! Helping the Pine Leaf Mouse gain stronger combat capabilities earlier wasn’t a bad strategy either.

Who knows? If it managed to beat that so-called Divine Physique during the trial, it would gain immense fame.

The Qianlong Mark might even advance to the next stage!

A higher-tier Qianlong Mark could amplify their spell cultivation more rapidly, making their strength soar in the short term.

With greater strength, they’d be better equipped to seize other opportunities, and their power would snowball from there.

On the other hand, if they hoarded resources but perished midway, they’d only benefit others—a common regret in the cultivation world.

The greatest tragedy for cultivators was dying and leaving resources to their enemies.

And if the worst-case scenario was losing a spirit herb they stumbled upon, it didn’t seem too bad after all.

“Thank you, Senior,” Lin Jing sincerely expressed his gratitude for the Shen Pine’s willingness to help.

The Shen Pine lamented, “If only I were more familiar with your human demonic techniques, I’d have already pushed you, with your Longevity Body, into cultivating something like a life-burning or lifespan-sacrificing demonic art. It would’ve been so much faster than the Beast Taming Art!”

“The Beast Taming Art isn’t that bad,” the Green Emperor coughed.

“Not great, either. Sure, it’s a technique for the stable boys in the Celestial Palace, but at least it has some connection to the palace—it’s still better than the native techniques of Tianyuan’s small continent,” the Shen Pine quipped. ʀâΝố𐌱ĘŜ

Wasting no time, the Pine Leaf Mouse was summoned by the Green Emperor.

When it heard it couldn’t delay eating the Spatial Evasion Grass any longer, it hesitated, showing great reluctance.

After all, it had taken care of that herb for a long time and grown attached to it.

“…” The mouse had hoped to let the herb mature and propagate a whole batch of offspring before eating it. Eating it now would end that dream of a legacy.

“You’ve got some nerve!” The Shen Pine scoffed. “Even with my mastery of the Everlasting Emperor’s Longevity Art, I couldn’t force the herb to reproduce, and you think you can? Dream on, little mouse!”

Hearing this, the Pine Leaf Mouse sighed. Fine, it would eat the herb.

It scurried back into the Suspended Gourd, pulled out the Spatial Evasion Grass—shaped like a white bean sprout—and held it carefully in its paws. Returning to the outside world, its green eyes turned toward Lin Jing and the pinecone, seeking instructions on how to consume it.

The Shen Pine, scanning the herb and the mouse with its spiritual sense, instructed, “Take out a hundred grains of golden spirit rice first. Eat ten, and set the remaining ninety aside.”

The Pine Leaf Mouse froze.

“!!!” It was stunned. Eating ten grains of golden spirit rice was like courting death! It worried it’d go so mad with hunger afterward that it might even try to eat the pinecone in front of it!

“Suppress the effects with the Everlasting Emperor’s Longevity Art. Alternate between eating rice when full and digesting the herb when hungry. Repeat this cycle!”

“Just follow the instructions. If anything goes wrong, I’ll intervene,” the Shen Pine reassured.

The explanation was clear enough for the Pine Leaf Mouse to understand. Resigned, it could only trust that it would be rescued if needed. Its face displayed utter despair.

“What’s the holdup? Not enough spirit rice? Then make more!” the Shen Pine barked impatiently, seeing the mouse hesitate.

“That’s not the issue. The problem is that it doesn’t want to part with so much spirit rice at once,” Lin Jing, understanding his beast better than anyone, explained.

“Eat it! Remember, a flower contains a world, and a leaf holds a universe. Who knows? After digesting the Spatial Evasion Grass, you might unlock an internal leaf-space!” Lin Jing encouraged.

The mouse’s eyes burned with determination, just like the nearby Dragon Carp recovering from injuries.

Grinding its teeth, the Pine Leaf Mouse poured out its entire stockpile of golden spirit rice. The pile exceeded a thousand grains, leaving the Shen Pine flabbergasted.

“Seriously? You’ve hoarded this much spirit rice, and now you’re whining about a hundred grains?!” the Shen Pine exclaimed in disbelief.

The Pine Leaf Mouse didn’t bother to explain. It grabbed a handful of golden spirit rice with grim resolve and shoved it into its mouth.

In an instant, its emerald eyes turned crimson, and its stomach rumbled like thunder, startling the Dragon Carp, which backed away in fear of becoming the mouse’s next meal.

“Let’s tie you up, just in case.” After the mouse ate the rice, it immediately consumed the Spatial Evasion Grass. To prevent it from devouring anything—or anyone—else, the Shen Pine restrained it with branches, leaving only enough freedom to reach the remaining rice.

Seeing this, Lin Jing closed his eyes. Through their Bloodline Contract, he could vaguely sense the mouse’s transformation—a stark contrast to his earlier inability to connect with the Dragon Carp during its bloodline awakening.

Entering a state of perception, Lin Jing’s vision was overwhelmed by a cascade of silvery-white light. The mysterious silver energy seemed intent on breaking down the Pine Leaf Mouse’s body.

Inside, its golden-green True Energy acted as an unyielding barrier, resisting and absorbing the silver energy, gradually integrating it.

Externally, the Pine Leaf Mouse began to glow. The golden-green light interwove with the silver brilliance, exuding an aura of otherworldly mystery. It seemed to hover between existence and non-existence.

As the mouse entered this peculiar state, Lin Jing was drawn into it as well. Time flew by unnoticed, and the Shen Pine observed in mild astonishment.

The Shen Pine turned to the Dragon Carp, the only other being still awake. “This Beast Tamer and his Pine Leaf Mouse have exceptional spatial perception.

“If they ever ascend to the Spirit Transformation stage, this talent could prove invaluable.”

The Dragon Carp, still resentful from its recent beatings, rolled over in silent protest.

Time passed.

On the seventh day, the mysterious silver energy no longer posed a threat to the Pine Leaf Mouse.

By the tenth day, it had fully digested the Spatial Evasion Grass. Although its cultivation level hadn’t significantly changed, its spatial perception had sharpened considerably.

Maintaining this heightened perception, it instinctively took out a red leaf and held it close. Two days later, the Pine Leaf Mouse finally opened its eyes.

“How do you feel?” Lin Jing, who had stayed by its side throughout, also opened his eyes. During these ten days, he felt he’d undergone some changes, though he couldn’t pinpoint exactly what.

The Pine Leaf Mouse, clutching the red leaf, seemed dazed. It had consumed countless grains of spirit rice to suppress the herb’s power and felt external assistance multiple times—it must’ve been the Shen Pine using the Everlasting Emperor’s Longevity Art to help.

“Sigh…” The mouse stared at the red leaf, feeling disappointed. It hadn’t sensed any internal space opening up.

“Why are you crying?” the Shen Pine asked impatiently. “What exactly do you feel?”

“Even though the Spatial Evasion Grass isn’t something human cultivators can directly benefit from, you’re a spatial-element spirit beast. With the Everlasting Emperor’s Longevity Art aiding your digestion, you should’ve gained something, right?” The Shen Pine studied the mouse intently.

Hearing this, the Pine Leaf Mouse hesitated.

“Sigh…”

It gently tossed the red leaf into the air, and in the next instant, its figure vanished.

Reappearing beside the floating red leaf, it grabbed it and stood atop the heavens.

“Spatial teleportation? No, it’s incomplete—a technique reliant on the spatial red leaf as a coordinate.”
