Chapter 270: Army Descends

Chapter 270: Army Descends

Colin and Heath who had managed to deal with the sword slashes after a lot of effort both looked towards the sky. Jayce had already moved up to confront the alien who was standing near the mass of clouds.

They had received a little boost in confidence seeing how Jayce had managed to easily deal with the other attacks the woman had sent out afterwards. Yet their faces soon turned sour as another figure with an even greater aura appeared.

It looked as if the trio were chatting together for a while but due to the considerable distance from them to the ground, they weren’t able to hear anything.

“This doesn’t look good.” Colin said, his deep voice laden with a sense of dread.

Heath merely nodded, unsure of what to say.

Yet in the next moment more and more figures began to descend from the mass of clouds and begin to float towards the ground slowly.

“F*ck, is that an army?”

Both of their expressions hardened as they saw the mass of aliens descending towards them. It looked like things were going to get messy soon.

“Victor! Ben! Zane! Prepare the army for battle!” Colin yelled before directing his attention back towards the sky. His face was resolute, yet there was a hint of anxiety hidden beneath.

Yet he wasn’t nervous about the descending army, he was more worried about Jayce having to deal with the two strong beings whose aura matched or even exceeded his own.

“We need to deal with the enemy army and make sure Jayce can fight without any distractions. If one of the two strong ones come down here we’ll need to team up to deal with them.” Colin said to Heath, his tone grave.

“Understood.” Heath nodded. He was also able to see the obvious sign that they were at a disadvantage with numbers.

“If only we had more time, me or Victor could have broken through.” Colin lamented. Yet he didn’t let that effect his preparation for battle, removing the large Greataxe from his back and gripping it tightly.

Heath did the same as he watched their army regroup around him and draw their own weapons.

“Everyone be ready, once they get a bit closer we’ll send some long range attacks their way.” Colin yelled, hearing some affirmative responses all around.

In the next moment his eyes opened widely as he saw Jayce send out tens of slashes towards the descending army.

“AHHH!”

“SAVE ME!”

He heard a cacophony of screams echo across the battlefield as hundreds of the descending soldiers were torn apart by Jayce’s attack. One of the figures appeared in time to block some of the strikes, however he could not block them all.

Yet his shock had not yet subsided as he saw Jayce suddenly appear in front of the woman and let out a ferocious attack. The army on the ground suddenly felt the air thicken, causing a strain on their bodies.

“Heaven Sundering Slash!”

The words echoed over plain as the tremendous strike slashed into the woman. She let out a scream as her body was slashed in two.

Colin and the others could only watch on in disbelief. Everything had happened so fast that their minds had trouble processing what was happening in front of them.

Before he could speak a word, Jayce sent out more and more slashes for good measure, slicing his opponent into more and more pieces. It was as if he was in the kitchen, mincing the meat by hand for their next meal.

The pieces remaining of the woman rained down on the Earth, snapping Colin out of his reverie. He was the first to understand the brilliant move that Jayce had just delivered and suddenly felt his body fill up with power.

“YEAH!! LEADER!” He shouted in jubilation. It was only then that the people in the surroundings understood what had happened. Their morale surged as Jayce their Leader had just taken out one of the powerful opponents.

“OUUUUUH!” They cheered loudly in response to Jayce’s feat, filling the battlefield with sonorous joy.

“NOOOOOOOO!”

The scream from Baran did nothing to deter the cheers on the ground. If anything they only served as a catalyst for their further rise in morale. For the first time since the invaders had set foot on their turf, they felt full of hope.

Colin quickly struck while the iron was hot, not wanting their army to dither.

“Prepare your ranged attacks!”

“YES SIR!”

The enemy army had finally descended into their range, meaning they could now join the battle. Due to their slow descent, they were almost sitting ducks as the human army prepared to throw everything at them.

“NOW!”

Colin yelled out, sending his Greataxe flying through the air towards the oncoming army. The Greataxe flew like a boomerang through the air, attaching itself onto 3 enemies before throwing them to the ground unceremoniously.

Then with a gesture of his wrist, it flew back into his hand wildly.

Colin’s attack was not the only one that hit its mark. There were potent fireballs and flames as well as boulders and wind blades which threw the descending army into chaos.

At an initial glance, they had taken out over 100 with the first volley of attacks. Yet that was not enough for Colin, who sang out over the battlefield.

“FIRE AT WILL!”

Once again, another flurry of attacks decimated the closest of the alien army, tearing through their ranks and dealing serious damage.

The alien army couldn’t have predicted that things would turn out this way. They had been overly confident in their invasion into Earth. From their understanding, Earth was not even 2 years into their evolution.

Therefore they severely underestimated the power of the local inhabitants. After all, how could they expect that there would be so many people who had become Foundation Establishment cultivators.

However, soon enough they began sending attacks of their own back onto the ground from their high vantage point.

Palms and slashes cut through the ascending attacks and flew towards the army on the ground. The war for the Earth had just begun.
