Chapter 272: All out War (2)
Despite only just recovering, there was no way she was going to sit back and watch everyone fight for the survival of Earth. There was a determined glint in her eye as she looked at the opposing army.
“Good. Send the order to your soldiers, we’ll start on my signal.” Colin said, his signature grin creeping onto his face.
By chance his gaze fell upon Zane who also happened to look in his direction at that moment. Colin wanted to relay his intentions, however he had no way of talking to the man who was so far away.
Therefore he tried to use some hand signals. He pointed to himself, then to the army before punching his fist into his open hand. Colin then pointed at Zane and then towards the army before miming the pulling of a bowstring.
Zane merely watched on with a blank gaze as the shirtless big man acted out his terrible version of signaling. He resisted the urge to face palm at the primitive communication.
It wasn’t that he couldn’t understand what Colin was saying, it was that it was too damn obvious. If Zane could understand it this easily, there was no way that the opposing army who was in clear view wouldn’t realize what was going on.
Yet as he gazed upon the big man who looked at him with expectation, all he could do was send a thumbs up, feeling second hand embarrassment from the show.
’Good! Zane is on board. With his ranged attacks we should be able to keep the opposing army guessing.’ Colin’s mind worked, planning out the next few steps in his head.
He quickly decided to jump into action before the invading army made the first move. Colin raised his head and bellowed.
“ATTACK!!”
With that, he charged forward with his 200 men in tow. He was at the forefront of the formation with two men behind him, behind them were 4 and then 8 and so on. If one looked from above, they would see the visage of an arrow charging towards the opposing army.
This was one of the formations that was often used by the cavalry in medieval times. Jayce had adapted one of the battle formations into this tried and tested arrow formation, boosting its power by many fold.
The formation filled the point of the arrow, in this case Colin, with Qi from the members behind him. This paired with his cultivation of the Divine Body Arts put him on par with Jayce’s level of strength, at least defensively.
The alien army did not stay idle, reacting instantly to Colin’s call to attack. The spear wielders moved to the front, pointing their long weapons outward in preparation for the clash of armies.
Perhaps this would have had a great effect against cavalry, however against Colin who was boosted by the battle formation, it turned much different than they would have expected.
The outstretched spears pierced into Colin as he ran forward like a juggernaut. Instead of finding their purchase in his flesh, they bent and contorted before he blitzed right through them.
The arrow tore through the front line of the invading army, sending bodies flying in the air and underfoot. Colin and his men trampled those who were unfortunate enough to be pushed to the ground, and those who were sent into the air became like pin cushions with tens of arrows planted into their flesh.
This was not all, Heath’s arrow also took flight, crashing into the backside of the alien army and causing mayhem. The others also did not remain idle, sending probing attacks on the edges of the opposing army and whittling away their defenses.
It wasn’t long before the entire alien army was in disarray from the two churning arrows which were tearing their line apart. The domination continued for another 10 minutes as the human army whittled away at the invaders with great discipline.
However it was not as smooth sailing as it may have looked.
Despite being buffed by the Qi of their men, Heath and Colin were both accumulating damage at the forefront by the relentless attacks of the enemies. While they were much hardier than the others with their Divine Body Arts, it did not make them invulnerable to attacks.
Heath in particular had been pierced deeply by one of the stronger enemies who had sacrificed his life to deal the blow. He had squeezed out all of his Qi to the tip of his spear, disregarding any and all defense, just to pierce his lower abdomen.
Of course the perpetrator was instantly crushed underfoot afterwards, however the speed and power of Heath’s arrow formation instantly dropped. This in turn allowed some of the other enemies a bit of breathing room to coordinate their attacks better.
Soon enough, Heath’s army was forced to stop in place. As soon as they stopped, a relentless counterattack came from all sides as they were surrounded by enemies.
In the next moment, the army was covered in a luminescent green glow which filled them with warmth. It was Leah and Lianna who had their hands extended, using the Law of Nature to heal the wounded within the army.
Due to the sheer amount of people, it was taking quite a toll on the two sisters who were doing their best to save their soldiers.
Seeing that the object of their attacks were being healed, the invading army’s eyes instantly went red. They drew their attention to the two girls and disregarded everything in their surroundings and began to swarm towards them.
’Shit!’ Heath cursed inwardly. “Stop them!” He shouted, throwing his body at the closest enemies and trying to bar their path.
However, he could not stop all of the enemies in time. There were around 10 who managed to get past them and bore down upon the two exhausted girls with malice in their eyes.
Leah and Lianna could only watch on with fear as the invaders rushed towards them with reddened eyes.
