Chapter 281: Unstoppable (1)

“GRAAAAAAARGHHHH”

A harrowing roar echoed around the battlefield, causing those in its surroundings to involuntarily tremble at the sound. The noise burrowed deeply into their psyche, invoking a primal instinct of terror brought on by a higher life form.

It was as if the roar was a trigger which activated the DNA locked within their bodies, leaving them cowering like prey in the face of an apex predator.

The Dragon blood within Victor oppressed everybody in the surroundings, regardless of friend or foe. Even Colin and Heath who had jumped in front of Victor to protect him during his breakthrough shivered uncontrollably.

Garu especially had a grave look on his face. While his strength allowed him to negate some of the effect of the roar, he did not like where things were going.

’This isn’t good… I have to act quickly.’

He straighted his body and composed himself for a moment, his gaze turning to Colin and Heath who were standing in his way. Originally, Garu thought that he would be able to easily break past the duo, however their bodies were too tough.

A determined gaze entered his eyes before a sword appeared in each of his 4 hands. Unlike the previous swords, these were pitch black in color and had no luster. It was as if the swords were one with the void, reflecting no light whatsoever.

Without saying a word, he charged forward towards the two, his arms sending multiple monstrous slashes towards Colin and Heath.

Colin retrieved the Greataxe from his back and stood firm, his eyes locked onto the dangerous attacks, full of resolution. Like his name entailed, he looked like a Divine Guardian who was putting his life on the line to protect someone.

Heath on the other hand had an equally large weapon in the form of a large Mace. The shaft was slightly shorter than a spear, while the head was heavy like a sledgehammer and covered in spikes.

The two stood next to each other stalwartly. If it weren’t for their modern clothes, they would fit right into a battle in the middle-ages.

They met the attacks head on with their eyes burning from determination and grit to protect Victor with all they had.

CLANG! BOOM!

The loud sound of metal clashing entered their ears, right before they were brutally slammed into the ground like a couple of kids who had joined the mens football team.

Colin let out a grunt as the attacks instantly put him into a disadvantage. Despite rating his physical strength highly, the monster in front of them had slammed him into the ground with a single blow.

Heath too could not fight back against the prowess of Garu, who had easily overpowered his defenses.

Yet that was not all. The two were slammed into the ground by the first two blows, however Garu had four arms. If the first strikes were enough to slam them into the ground, they were in for a world of hurt in the next round.

Gritting his teeth, Colin held his Greataxe up from his body, hoping to at least soften the next blow before it came thundering down against his chest and breaking his ribs.

Unfortunately, the attempt did little to offset the strength of the next blow which landed true. His weapon was pushed into his chest with tremendous power, forcing out a groan of pain followed by a mouthful of blood.

Heath also suffered the same fate, feeling as if his chest was about to explode from the pressure of the strike. He could only try and push back with all of his might in hopes of not being crushed under the terrifying weight of the sword.

Despite taking a long time to explain, the blows had happened within a blink of an eye, turning the two stalwart defenders into something akin to roadkill on the side of the road.

After incapacitating the two in only a few blows, Garu completely disregarded them, turning his attention to Victor who was still in the midst of his breakthrough.

Without stopping, he made his way towards him with confident steps. Garu wasn’t worried that Victor would be able to stop him as not only was he not on his level, it was also impossible to divert ones attention away from a breakthrough.

If one was not careful during a breakthrough, they could easily suffer Qi deviation which would only result in death. The Qi would circulate in reverse, causing all of the organs to essentially implode.

Garu sucked a deep breath in after stopping in front of Victor. He hesitated for a moment, as if to weigh up the ramifications of killing one of the Dragonkin versus the merits of completing his mission.

His face was indecisive as he gazed upon Victor who still looked to be in some pain.

Yet in the next moment he shook his head, steeling his resolve.

“Man I really do have dogshit luck today.” He murmured.

Garu raised one of his four arms and slashed down across the body of the unmoving Victor.

However, the space suddenly trembled in the next moment, blocking the attack and sending a shock wave back up his arm.

The hulking man looked at the sword in his arm with confusion for a moment before sending out another few slashes, each ending with a similar result.

It took a few moments for Garu to process what had happened before his face was filled with shock, followed by anger and annoyance.

“Shit! Where the hell did these guys get a prison formation from?” He cursed, his anger beginning to rise.

Jackie stepped forward, moving her way to Colin’s side. Thankfully, Leah and Lianna had gone to heal the two meatheads, so she wasn’t worried about their safety for now.

“That was close…” Ben said, his face pale and full of anxiety.

“Yeah, if he hadn’t have hesitated for that brief moment I wouldn’t have been able to set up the formation.” She admitted, feeling a wave of relief.

“How long will it hold him?” Amber asked, gripping Ben’s hand tightly.

“As long as he doesn’t have any tricks up his sleeve, it should buy us another 30 minutes or so.” Jackie said, although she didn’t sound too convinced herself.
