Chapter 282: Unstoppable (2)
Yet while the group was chatting, there was another group whom everyone had seemingly forgotten about. The army of alien invaders yelled out in surprise after seeing what had transpired.
They quickly began to rally themselves, intending to try and break Garu out of his prison. The army was positioned around 50 meters away, as they had backed up earlier in fear of getting in the Core Formation experts way.
But now they wielded their weapons once more and charged forward towards the prison, intending to rip it to shreds and free their strong ally.
“Can you lead the defense?” Jackie asked after looking around at their remaining army.
Even if the opposition was in a frenzy, the humans outnumbered them considerably. The invaders were now only left with a little more than 300 troops, while they had almost 5 times that amount.
“Roger.” Ben replied, picking up his sword which he had dug into the ground. Amber too followed him, moving towards the approaching army.
“Troops! Defend like your lives depend on it!” He yelled.
“AYE!”
A resounding shout came from a large portion of the human army as they once again took up their weapons and ran forward to meet the invaders.
Soon enough, the sound of battle once again filled the air. Without the interference from the Core Formation expert, things regressed back into a messy melee with warm blood being spilled upon the Earth once more.
It was no surprise that the human army were the ones to dictate the pace of battle. With their superior numbers, they were able to effectively take down enemies as a group, bringing their casualties to a negligible amount.
The battle had turned into a rout. Yet despite this, the enemies still through themselves at the humans with no intentions of letting up.
They all knew that as long as a few of them were able to break through the barricade and disrupt the formation, there would be hope of survival. It was not like they could retreat back through the barrier as they could not fly.
Even if they were to run away, where would they go? Once the breach had repaired itself, they would be singled out by the Heavenly retribution and reduced to ashes in one fell swoop.
Therefore they put all of their efforts into attacking the humans, holding onto the small hope of survival that was left for them.
Garu saw all this and frowned. To be honest, he was quite disappointed in himself for underestimating the enemy. Such a negative emotion also bred others, giving rise to a deep anger in his heart.
Jackie had been keeping an eye on Garu within the prison formation all this time, breathing a sigh of relief at his reaction. As long as he did not struggle, the formation could last for up to 6 hours.
This would give them plenty of time for either Victor to breakthrough, or for Jayce to arrive after defeating the other Core Formation expert.
BOOM!
Jackie’s face fell as she suddenly felt the entire ground quake beneath her feet. Some of the other warriors even lost their footing in the middle of battle, becoming an easy target for their enemies.
Garu had summoned a huge hammer within his hands and was beginning his next swing against the formation. His face was twisted with rage as he clenched his four hands tightly around the shaft of the Warhammer.
BOOM!
“YOU PUNY F*CKERS DARE TO TRAP ME!?”
BOOM!
“F*CKING ANTS! I WILL SQUASH YOU BENEATH MY FEET”
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Cracks began to appear upon the space within the prison. They started out as small, yet the fractures quickly picked up speed and spread out like spiderwebs throughout the entire space surrounding him.
“Shit! It won’t even last another minute at this rate.” Jackie cursed, her face filled with anxiety.
Once Garu broke out of the prison, there was nothing stopping him from destroying everything and everyone in the vicinity. Even if they all ganged up on him together, she doubted that he would even break a sweat after killing them all.
CRASH!
The sound of glass shattering echoed across the battlefield, causing everyone to pause. The battle which had been in full swing suddenly stopped as they turned towards the sound, each with different expressions.
“YEEEEAHHHHHH!”
The aliens yelled out in unison, their polyphonic voices sounding like a symphony of cheers sung by a horrible choir.
The humans could only watch on with wide eyes as the space around Garu shattered, signifying the breaking of the prison formation which had trapped him earlier.
Garu’s eyes were red and his body seemed to be steaming. The sweat didn’t have a chance to roll down his body as it was instantly evaporated and sent into the air as steam.
He turned his attention to the army who had been fighting earlier before suddenly disappearing from their sight.
BOOM!
A giant Warhammer slammed down amongst a group of warriors, instantly turning them into meat patties. The impact of the hammer sent shockwaves out, sending bodies flying in every direction.
BOOM! BOOM!
Then without pause, he began to slam the same Warhammer down, indiscriminately killing anyone and everyone in the vicinity. Both humans and aliens were turned into puddles of flesh with every strike, not even having a chance to say their last words.
Ben’s face paled as he watched the carnage in front of him. He panicked, quickly looking for Amber who had also rushed into battle with him, instinctively wanting to protect her.
Then out of the corner of his eye he saw her. She was frozen stiff, staring at Garu who had turned into a killing machine.
He ran with all of his might, disregarding everything in his surroundings. His eyes focused on the woman he loved, wanting nothing more than to escape to another place with her in his arms.
“Amber!” He called out.
Time seemed to slow down as he saw her turn around after hearing his voice. Her face was awash with worry, but he still thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world.
He spurned on his Qi, forcing it to circulate through his body at the maximum speed possible. With the added boost, he finally made it to her side and picked her up into a princess carry, exactly like how he had done in the fight against the hydra.
Ben breathed out a sigh of relief, yet his feet did not stop moving. There was no telling where or when the rampaging alien would strike next, giving them no time to dilly dally.
“Ben!” she cried out, burying her face into his chest. A sense of relief washing over her.
“It’s okay, I’ll always be here when you need me. After all, you’re the woman I love.” He replied seriously.
It was then that he felt his instincts screaming danger at him. He didn’t have time to think, yet he acted without hesitation.
Ben used his hands to push with all of his might, throwing Amber towards Jackie who he could see was watching them from almost 20 meters away. His gaze locked onto her and he mouthed 3 words.
’Keep her safe’
BOOM!
“NOOOOOOOOOOO!”
