Death... and me

Chapter 3582: Not Right

Chapter 3582: Not Right

"The Medallion is actually older than myself," Royer didn’t hide it. "I was trapped the last time I entered this place, but that wasn’t my first time. In fact, that was my third. I found the Medallion during my second excursion. I even have one with me here."

He then pulled out a medallion identical to the one Elsie used. Following that, he threw it to Roan, who caught it with Divine Energy and checked it with his Divine Sense first. Seeing everything was fine, he finally grabbed the Medallion.

*Zup!*

The Medallion shined, and Roan’s eyes went blank for a split second. He even thought he fell for a trap there. Yet, he quickly recovered, and with his recovery...

"Memories?" Rean spoke to the side. The Medallion gave Roan memories... or information, to be more precise. Naturally, he saw the same memories as Roan didn’t block them.

Roan nodded. Seeing that Royer had no ill intentions, Roan continued. "The Medallion gave me some pieces of information regarding this opening of the Golden Palace. Was it you who put the information inside, Royer?"

Royer shook his head. "No. It was already there the last time I used it. Also, the information it gives is just like the palace itself. It changes. The information you got now is about this opening and shouldn’t be showing anything about past events."

Rean and Roan were able to confirm that. They saw the information regarding the compartments with the Purple Liquid outside the lake. That’s why Elsie knew about the Spatial Compartments. There was more. According to the information inside, these tunnels are a test of survival and courage, or so it said. If you survived to the end, you would come out into the next region, but why courage? They didn’t know. However, that’s where the information stopped.

"The Medallions give you some information, but nothing that impressive," Royer explained. "Also, it will never give you any information regarding further regions, only about the ones you have been to. You are quite lucky in this regard. The number of Medallions in existence probably isn’t higher than a few tens or so. And, as you probably can guess, most of them are in the Camazotz Bats’ hands. Well, at least the Medallions with a small stone picture, that is."

"What about the other Medallions?" Rean asked. He had seen those medallions back on the other side of the Lake. The experts from other Universes had some different ones that had different pictures.

"I wish I knew the answer to that," Royer answered, shaking his head. "Until today, I didn’t even know other Universes had access to our Celestial Supreme Palace... or Golden Palace; that’s what everyone decided to call it since the different universes used different names, right? Anyway, the most I can do is guess."

"Well, different Universes, different Medallions," Kentucky spoke from there. "Perhaps the Medallions each Universe uses have a different reason to exist."

"How far have you been?" Rean asked this time.

"It is hard to speak about the Golden Palace by using distances," Royer continued. "After all, different environments lead to different paths and distances you need to traverse. It’s not because you traversed a small distance that you didn’t actually cover a bigger part of the Palace. So, I’ll talk about regions instead of distance."

Everyone nodded, and Royer thought about his second trip to the Palace, the one he found the Medallions. "My second time here, I managed to cross six regions, arriving at the seventh. It was also at the seventh region that I found the Medallions. Well, me and a bunch of other guys."

Royer didn’t speak more about these ’other guys,’ but anyone could guess what happened. A battle took place, and Royer came out on top, acquiring the two Medallions. "The Palace always stays open for exactly ten years, and the seventh region was as far as I went before my time ran out. Don’t ask me how many regions there are. I don’t know."

"I imagined that," Celis commented. "Only Triaglia managed to reach the Celestial Realm here, right? That means she was most likely the only one to make it to the end. Well, she and the other Universe owners. They all seem to have achieved the same thing here. If someone knows, it is probably only the real top Camazotz Bats, like Elder Zick."

"And that’s considering the number of regions might not be the same," Rean added. "Who can guarantee it never changes? Triaglia was the only one until now, right? Unless she had contact with the other Universe Owners regarding this place, even she can’t guarantee that the number of regions is the same."

"Hmph!" Roan snorted. "You can be sure she knows about the other Universe Owners, no doubt. At most, she isn’t allowed to talk about it to the residents of her Universe."

The paths ahead continued to diverge, and the twins’ group just selected them at random.

"Now, what about you guys?" Royer answered everything they wanted to know, and he also wanted answers. "The guy said you came from outside our Universe?"

Too bad the twins’ group didn’t want to talk about it. "For your own good, it is better if you don’t know. That would only bring more trouble than benefit for both sides."

Royer wasn’t very satisfied, but he didn’t insist. As he was at the moment, even Elsie was stronger than him, so it wasn’t like he could force the twins’ group to talk anyway.

Roan pointed at the Medallion. "Can I have it?"

"Would you give it back to me even if I asked?" Royer said with a smile, until...

*Zup!*

Roan threw it back to him. "Sure."

"Uh???" Royer truly didn’t expect that.

He looked at Elsie, who closed her eyes in understanding... or maybe in not understanding. "Common sense simply doesn’t work with these guys. Trust me, you are better off pretending they don’t exist."

"That’s a little rude," Rean complained.

She then told her Master how the twins managed to learn and instantly reach an Intent Weapon with 99% of Intent power.

"Hahaha!" Royer laughed out loud. "As if such a thing was possible."

Seeing Elsie’s serious expression, he looked back at them again. "She is joking, right?"

Rean shrugged. "Do you want me to lie or tell you the truth?"

Roye’s mouth twitched. Was there a difference in the end? "Forget I asked anything."

Then, he gave it back to Roan. "Take it. I can use the one I gave to Elsie. First of all, I only managed to get two of them by pure luck, so let’s just consider it fate."

Roan caught the Medallion, nodding seriously. "Thanks."

Suddenly, they arrived at the end of another corridor, and the paths diverged again. However, there was a difference now. The paths had different colors... and there were seven of them. Yes, each one had a similar color to each Universe. "So... the green one?"

Kentucky looked behind him. "Guys, behind us, there are various other passages that end in this same room."

That was a first. So far, every time they arrived at a path split, there was only one passage behind, the one they used to get there. However, there were seven now, and each one also had the colors of each Universe. Now, they had seven colored passages behind and seven colored choices in front.

Everyone there could guess it already. The various tunnels from under the waterfalls most likely converged again. More experts would arrive here sooner or later. Or maybe they did already and selected one of the colors ahead.

"Okay, let’s just take the green one and continue," Kentucky spoke, not in the mood to wait for more people after what he did back in the lake.

"Wait." Roan wasn’t so sure. "This makes no sense. Why would the paths converge here just for everyone to choose their own colors right after? There would be no point in making this room in the first place. Something isn’t right."
