Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4481: Three Centuries

Chapter 4481: Three Centuries

Davis saw Clara seal the portal to the Nether Dimension successfully. Although it was more of a crack than a gate, he saw that she had sealed it nearly perfectly. The outsiders were at a disadvantage, unable to increase their power to attack because of the backlash while her barrier even caused the strange nether energy that pulled out the Nether Devilarch to fail.

Clara clearly employed a multitude of laws to create this strange law that he felt to be nearly unbreakable. At the very least, he guessed it was impossible to break into the same level. He wanted to know more, but if he delayed, he guessed Venerable Knight Lussandra might claim the Nether Devilarch and the spoils.

He went to the fallen Nether Devilarch, wondering if he should keep him alive, feed him, make him an Exalt, and then snatch his core. However, that would require him to enter the Upper Realm which he couldn’t do in the next ninety-three years.

[Rule four, in the Three-Layered Universe, Davis Loret is prohibited from entering the Second Layer for one hundred years and the First Layer for five hundred years.]

He still remembered this stupid rule, but after the initial ten years of the Covenant, he had no intention of following this rule. He intended to break it when he wanted to step into the Upper Realms. If he dared remain in the Lower Realms, he might be safe, but everyone else would surpass him and become Empyreans and Exalts.

He hovered over the Nether Devilarch while looking at his miserable state.

The Nether Devilarch spurted black blood from his mouth while the long gash from his head to toe kept bleeding incessantly, causing a black pool to appear beneath. This Nether Devilarch was barely able to regenerate and was drowning in his own blood.

"Stop, human! Return our king, and we will award you with riches!"

A growl emerged from the other side, the Nether Devils finally speaking after one of their Exalt Stage Nether Devils just got crushed into meat paste.

Davis’s lips curled.

If it was a few years ago, he would’ve definitely asked for the Forsaken Yin Lotus Core and a few other treasures in exchange. Now, he didn’t have a need for it since Natalya already brought back a few.

With a wave of his hand, Davis dealt the killing blow as a reincarnation spear quickly formed over his hand and pierced through the Nether Devilarch’s soul. He swiped the soul essence and then ripped apart the Nether Devilarch Core from the corpse.

The Nether Devilarch died with a fearful look on his face.

"Damned human! We won’t forget this! You’ll be marked by our race’s killing mark, hunted for an eternity, and even if you’re reborn tens of times!"

"Ridiculous..."

The same time Davis swiped the soul essence, he also suppressed the Nether Devil’s curse ability from activating. Technically, he didn’t do it but the moment its soul essence got anchored to Fallen Heaven, it simply became inactive and unable to retaliate.

Even if it did activate, he wasn’t scared. Curses and the like wouldn’t hold a candle to his triple threat of death, life, and reincarnation energies. His soul powers were the bane of curses and even blessings alike. As long as he was powerful and wanted them gone, he could refine them into oblivion.

Davis took the corpse and stored it as it was also valuable.

He turned to look at the carnage below and declared.

"All of the Nether Devil corpses are mine. No one should take it except if it’s your kill."

"..."

The people didn’t say anything. They couldn’t say anything since they were weak and tired, their faces looking bloodied and despairing since a lot of their people had died. The Nether Devils were truly savage, stomping through the city like they were nothing but ants.

Davis started to collect the thousands of Nether Devil corpses. As he did so, the Heaven’s Warriors were naturally dissatisfied with his actions. They complained to Venerable Knight Lussandra, saying that these corpses were valuable, especially the Nether Devilarch corpse that could be used to make formations of immense power that could ward curses and many more strange dark powers.

However, Venerable Knight Lussandra was unable to do anything. She could only say that they were too late to suppress the Nether Devils themselves.

She eyed the Divine Emperor of Death, her heart heavy as she could tell his prowess increased again. Back then, he defeated them using his body cultivation, but now, with his soul cultivation, he almost neared the layer limit. She imagined if they let him cultivate for the next few years, then he could grow even stronger.

But like before, she never lost faith in their ability to kill the Divine Emperor of Death in the Upper Realms. The more powerful his comprehension was, the greater the threat from the Elemental Dimension when it was time for merging the Laws and becoming a powerful version of an Exalt.

"Are you okay? Did you destroy the Covenant to kill the Immortal Emperor Nether Devils...?" Mingzhi asked in a worried tone.

"Nope." Davis simply answered, almost done with storing the Nether Devil corpses.

Davis realized that the beings from other dimensions weren’t included in Covenant’s third rule.

Because the Covenant let him know if what he was doing was wrong, he was easily able to notice if he was about to break it, and when he tried killing the Immortal Emperor Stage Nether Devils, he didn’t get that feeling.

He guessed this was because the Celestial Transcendent only mentioned those who are below the Empyrean Stage and Autarch Stage. This meant only humans, spirits, and magical beasts were considered in the Covenant’s third rule. Perhaps the Seraphims were also included since the Transcendent Cultivation Method was derived from them.

[Rule three, Davis Loret will not kill anyone below the Empyrean Stage and Autarch Stage for the next ten years, and he cannot command, influence, or hire others to kill on his behalf.]

Truthfully, Nether Devils weren’t in the Empyrean Stage. From what he understood, they only had their natural bodily strength, but to categorize them, they were considered using the human cultivation levels.

’That clever big man... he clearly intends to use my powers on threats that the human race couldn’t deal with if he’s going to let me survive for the time being. Just how far is his vision?’ Davis wondered, ’Did he expect invasions to happen during this time in the Lower Realms? He might know far more than he is letting on...’

He turned to look at Clara.

Without the Celestial Transcendent’s permission, she surely couldn’t have descended. After all, the Celestial Transcendent was her master and the one who gave her all the resources and protection in the world.

He nodded at Mingzhi, indicating things were fine, before flying towards Clara.

The other Heaven’s Warriors tried to block him, but with Venerable Knight Lussandra echoing a single word, "Don’t", they let him pass.

Davis didn’t even put them in his eyes. He flew past them and arrived before Clara.

"Didn’t you want the spoils?" He asked in an amused tone, "I was looking to have fun racing with you."

Clara kept an eye on the seal she placed on the portal. Her purple eyes shone with a transcendental glow as though they could see what was happening on the other side. Nonetheless, she turned to look at him, her gaze softening.

"Brother, this isn’t my first mission, so I could make do with not getting any spoils to return with."

"You’ve already grown into a fine Heaven’s Warrior?" Davis blinked.

"Yes, my current duties are to head to a few old and ancient sites and strengthen the seal of evil entities that could cause immense harm if unleashed. Some have escaped, and a few were never caught, still out somewhere. You are also on the list. Would you like to get sealed?" Clara’s brows raised.

"..." Davis blinked, his smile widening as he chuckled, "Little sister, you have changed somewhat. It’s like... your physique is..."

"A lot of years passed, brother..." Clara returned her gaze to the portal, her gaze forlorn, "I’m three hundred and twenty-one years old now, and I understand a lot of matters that I previously found hard to understand."

"..." Davis’s heart shook.

Intense guilt shook his heart as though he felt like he was unable to protect her even though she had been treated well and became too powerful in the time she spent in the time chambers and comprehending Laws of the highest order. This was just her avatar. Her main body may have already become an Exalt or is hovering at the edge, looking to become an Omega Exalt.

Otherwise, he felt Clara wouldn’t be willing to break through.

Unwittingly, unable to control himself, Davis appeared beside Clara and hugged her lightly as he laid her head on his chest.

Clara’s eyes widened at this gesture. However, she didn’t move. Her eyes closed slowly, and her lips quivered as she tried to hold her tears back when she felt her brother’s hand caress the back of her head, that faint sense of familiarity bringing her a full sense of security.

"Is father and mother doing well?" She asked, her voice cracking.
