Dragon Genesis: I Can Create Dragons
Chapter 327: The Warden of Provision.Chapter 327: The Warden of Provision.
“Lady Lavinia!”
As Kael and Lavinia walked out of the Elders Hall, Aelindra rushed towards them with a bright smile on her face.
It was quite a surprising sight for Kael, since his first impression of this woman was that she was a calculative type who did not say many words. The woman in front of him, however, was someone entirely different—a cheerful, somewhat careless type who looked like she would reveal everything she was told if she went with the flow.
It was quite a drastic change. Kael stared at the woman with a raised eyebrow. Lavinia, on the other hand, was much calmer. The Princess waited for Aelindra to catch up and,
“Lady Lavinia!”
Aelindra called her again as she appeared in front of her, completely ignoring the Dragon Rider that had been the centre of attention ever since he appeared.
“Lady Aelindra.”
Lavinia greeted politely.
“When are you going to deliver your first lecture??”
Aelindra asked excitedly.
“As I said inside the Elders Hall, I still need some time to assess the situation. I need to see the current level of Magic, I also need to know the total number of Mages, what Elements they have affinity to, and other things to come up with a teaching plan.
I do not have much power here, so it would take time for me to gather all the information I need and come up with a teaching pla—”
“You do not have to worry about it. Just speak your mind. Anything you need, I will make sure it is delivered to you in the shortest time possible!”
Aelindra declared.
She was the Elder of the Iron Council. She had a lot of power here and she was fully prepared to use that power.
“Lady Aelindra, you are the Warden of Provision. I am sure you have your own things to ten—”
“Leave that to me.”
Aelindra interrupted, her eyes shaking with resolve,
“I will work without sleep if I have to.
I saw your Magic with my own eyes. I pride myself on being an excellent mage, but I couldn’t see through your Magic even when you used the most basic spells.
This made me realize how far we have fallen. The words you said before—I can see that they were correct.
Our people need this. Our people need you, desperately.”
Aelindra placed her hands on Lavinia’s shoulders and,
“So please, Lady Lavinia, let me do this.”
She requested.
“Tell me what you require.”
Lavinia stared at the Warden of Provision in silence, as if reading her expression. Aelindra made sure to look right back into her eyes, showing her resolve.
In the end, the Princess sighed,
“I need the total number of aspiring Mages, number of existing Mages, their age range, rough idea of their level of understanding, their Elemental Affinities, Affinity Strength, existing spell knowledge, casting methods, and posture towards Magic—I need to know whether they are sceptical about Magic or are they excited about it, and if they are willing to dedicate time to Magic.”
She listed.
“Of course, I do not need a very detailed report.
I need the report to be divided based on the age range, say 10–15, 16–25, 25–40, and those above 40.
According to these ranges, I need to know the number of spells they know, five most common spells most mages know, and whether they have time to commit to daily Magic practice.
And of course, I will be needing a more detailed report on affinities—how many have affinities with different elements and the affinity strength.
As for the rest, I guess I would have to see to it myself as I deliver the lectures.”
The Princess explained as clearly as she could.
As she continued to speak, Kael stared at her, impressed. Seeing how Aelindra, an Elder of the Iron Council, was nodding at her every statement like a subordinate prepared to do everything she could in order to impress her superior, and Lavinia instructing her on what to do as if it was the most natural thing in the world…
It felt quite… intimidating.
It was different from the usually silent Lavinia he knew.
“I will prepare everything by tomorrow morning.”
Aelindra declared confidently.
“Tomorrow morning?”
Lavinia raised her eyebrow.
It was already night; it would be morning in just a few hours. Of course, when Lavinia initiated the conversation, she was expecting Aelindra to help her, but even with her help, she was expecting the entire thing to take about two or three days.
To do this in a few hours…
“I will collect the information at night and compile a report by the morning. Do not worry about it.”
Aelindra was confident.
“You will collect the information at night?”
Lavinia was taken aback.
Most people would be asleep—how was she going to do it?
No, actually, even if that was possible, how would she collect all the information in a few hours?
Lavinia did not understand, and Aelindra, who saw her expression, just smiled proudly.
“I am the Warden of Provision. I have people working for me. To make the distribution easier, I have divided the residential area into different sectors, and these sectors are divided further and further to make everything more efficient.
I will summon all the Sector Leaders and distribute the task to them. These people can distribute provisions in a matter of a few hours—collecting information wouldn’t be difficult.
It will be done before the people actually go to sleep. Please do not worry about it.
You will have your report by tomorrow morning.”
The Warden of Provision explained.
Lavinia was clearly taken aback. Aelindra, however, wasn’t going to let her leave without an answer,
“When can I expect you to start teaching after you have the report?”
She questioned.
Lavinia thought about it for a moment and then,
“I would need a few hours to go through the report and then come up with a teaching plan.
It should all be done by evening.”
Seeing her excitement and resolve, the Princess did not hold back either.
It was time to get to work.
