“Forget it, I will understand what is happening when I see her,” Nameless Death muttered, shaking his head.
The room of Obitus was in the deepest corner of the palace.
Inside, the windows were closed and the curtains were drawn, creating a pitch-black darkness in the room.
Obitus was laying on the bed with her hair spread beneath her.
Her gaze was hollow. She looked like a lifeless doll.
Nameless Death spent days beside her. She never moved except for occasional sobs. It was as if she had given up on living, and was now waiting for death.
Watching her like this, as if she had lost everything, was painful for him. He couldn’t understand why he felt like this.
“This place is definitely connected to me. Everything feels familiar here, and these people more so.”
Obitus gave him the biggest sense of familiarity.
He wanted to wipe out her tears and tell her everything would be alright, but he couldn’t touch her, nor call her out.
“Why is she like this?”
Nameless Death bit his lips. A sense of anger rose in his heart. Obitus was clearly someone important.
So why weren’t the Overseers and Administrators helping her overcome her grief?
He clenched his fists.
They would come to her doors and call her out. The Tyrant Firmament was a frequent visitor, but since Obitus was not answering them, they never opened the doors to the room.
She refused help, so they could only go back.
“These idiots.” Nameless Death clenched his jaw.
So what if she was refusing help?
They should’ve forced her.
Despite his feelings, Nameless Death could do nothing but watch.
“It will be alright,” he told her as he tried to caress her head, but failed. His arms phased through her hair, and his voice went unheard.
He spent decades next to her, watching over her.
His own heart was torn apart piece by piece as he saw her drowning in grief and guilt.
A century had nearly passed before the doors to Obitus’ room were opened.
The doors that had never moved were smashed open.
“How is my dear Obitus doing?” the jovial and charming voice echoed.
The woman with silver hair and silver eyes stood at the doors. Her figure seemed to emit light. She was breathtakingly beautiful, and slightly smaller than average height.
“Who…?” Obitus asked, slightly raising her head. “No, just… leave….”
She raised her hand to forcefully push the woman out of the room, but before she could do that, the woman was already sitting beside her, cupping her face with both hands.
“Oh, my. Why do you look so famished? Have you not been eating anything?”
“Who… you…?” Only broken syllables left Obitus’ cracked lips. Even now her eyes remained dull and lifeless.
“I finally manifested after my Blessing fully fused and you can’t even recognize me?” the woman acted hurt but then nodded exaggeratedly. “I suppose it makes sense, you’ve never seen my true appearance.”
She stood up and twirled, then struck a pose.
“How am I? You must be awestruck by my beauty.”
Obitus finally looked at the woman. She did not recognize her. But this brazen and weird way of talking, and the fact that she called herself Blessing…
“Artemis?”
“Of course, you recognize me, my divine beauty can’t be hidden,” she beamed with pride and satisfaction at being recognized. “Now, let’s go out. I’ve been waiting to talk to you since ages!”
Before Obitus could resist, Artemis grabbed her hand and pulled her out of the room.
Nameless Death, who had been watching everything, released a sigh of relief.
He had been worried Obitus would push the woman away, but it seemed the woman was too brazen to leave even though she had been told to go away.
‘Only someone like her can help Obitus.’
He hoped she could save Obitus, and wished she would not make her condition worse.
After thinking for a bit, he decided to follow behind them.
Artemis took Obitus to a restaurant. The people did not know who they were, but they still took peeks at the beautiful duo.
Their gazes made Obitus shudder and curl.
“What are you going to eat?” Artemis asked. “I will take….”
The silver-eyed woman ordered dozens of dishes. It filled the table up to the brim. Even Obitus was surprised.
“Can… can you eat so much?” Obitus asked meekly.
“I finally have a body after centuries. I will eat everything even if my stomach explodes.”
As she ate, she offered a piece to Obitus, but Obitus refused, making Artemis shrug and eat it herself.
Then, Artemis pulled Obitus towards a cinema hall, then to a market, then to an amusement park.
The brazen woman gave no moment of rest to Obitus.
“Let’s go to…”
The duo kept going from one place to another. Until now, Artemis was a Blessing without a host, and as such had not been able to communicate with anyone.
But it changed today.
Since Artemis finally had gained a body, she wanted to do everything she had not been able to do before.
Nameless Death noticed Tyrant Firmament, Death Sword Firmament, and other Overseers following the group from afar.
They seemed worried about Obitus, and from the looks of it, this whole day had been planned by all of them together.
‘So, they were also worried about her,’ he thought.
In hindsight, it made sense. They must have been worried about Obitus. Nameless Death had been just too angry at them to consider their thoughts.
The Overseers had wanted to help Obitus, but they had been afraid of making the situation worse.
It wasn’t until Artemis appeared in the morning and said that she would handle everything that they made their move.
“Haaah, I’m dying,” Artemis said as she sat on the roadside bench.
She was covered in sweat and breathing heavily.
Turning her head, she noticed Obitus was completely fine.
“How are you not tired after all that?”
Night had already come, and refreshing winds blew across the area. The market was still filled with hustle and bustle.
“Uh…” Obitus spoke awkwardly, not being used to talking after spending centuries alone. “Why are you tired? We are not normal people who should be exhausted by just this much.”
“Huh? I don’t know. Maybe it’s my body? Although it took a long while to be created, and I can tell it has enormous potential, it feels weak like a human body for now.”
Artemis made a pouting expression.
Seeing her like that, Obitus recalled the variety of expressions Artemis had shown throughout the day.
A chuckle left Obitus’ lips.
“How is your personality still so weird?” Obitus asked while laughing.
“Charming, you mean,” Artemis flashed a grin.
She looked at Obitus with a smile, seeing her finally make a different face for now.
“Now, it’s time for the main event!” Artemis grabbed her hand again and pulled her along.
“Where are we going?” Obitus asked in a much better mood. She herself hadn’t realized that she had been craving others’ company, and after a day with Artemis her mood had lightened.
“Hehe, it’s night. So of course we are going to watch ‘that.'”
