Clark was injured without a hit because he had overextended himself with that attack.
Not only had he summoned a lot of weapons in a short amount of time, but he had also destroyed those weapons, which caused a backlash on him too. So his injuries were self-inflicted.
Clark could only hope that his sacrifice was worth it, so he was gazing at the cloud of smoke caused by the explosion with anxiety.
When the cloud of dust was blown away, Silver Mirror’s figure was revealed. Everyone could see that he wasn’t looking good.
Silver Mirror’s robe had been destroyed. He also had a large burn all over his body. He was bleeding from those burns.
His robe was destroyed, but he was mostly fine because he had used his rank 4 divine ability called Phase Shift. He had turned his body intangible and used this to avoid most of the damage from the explosion.
If he had mastered Phase Shift completely, he might have been able to escape the explosion completely unscathed. Either way, he was mostly fine after the explosion and still had a lot of spiritual energy left.
From the look of things, things were not looking good for Clark. So his face fell when he saw that Silver Mirror was fine.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t give up on fighting. So he struggled to stand back on his feet. Then he raised his hand to summon more phantom weapons.
A warrior is capable of more than just summoning weapons. But all of those skills are better shown in close combat.
However, he can’t show those skills because he doesn’t want to engage in close combat with Silver Mirror. His Martial Instincts divine ability is warning him not to let that happen.
Since he has made up his mind to protect the other lamp bearers. He can only stand his ground and expend large amounts of spiritual energy to keep Silver Mirror back.
Fortunately, the short fight has given the other two lamp bearers time to run away. They left Clark and tried to take a detour to reach Captain Sheckel.
The bad news was that they couldn’t run far. The five people that Silver Mirror brought with him chased after them and were quickly catching up to them.
The two lamp bearers were just rank 2. There was no way they could hold back three rank 3 godclads. By the looks of things, they were going to die if Clark didn’t defeat Silver Mirror quickly and go to save them.
So Clark was worried. It showed on his face.
Silver Mirror sneered at him and said, “Don’t worry about them. Worry about yourself first.”
Silver Mirror had nothing on hand or on his body. He was completely naked because everything he had had been destroyed in that explosion. Yet, the danger he constituted hadn’t reduced by much.
After all, he still had two divine abilities that he hadn’t used yet. He is hoping to use them by getting very close to Clark. That’s why he still continued to rush towards Clark.
In general, there is no weak divine ability. The power of divine abilities is directly proportional to the spiritual power of the user. So even a rank 1 divine ability can be deadly.
As it is, Silver Mirror hasn’t used any attacking divine ability. It can’t be that he hasn’t used any because he doesn’t have an attacking divine ability. So Clark can think with his ass that the offensive divine ability is what Silver Mirror is holding back.
In fact, Clark knows what the offensive divine ability is. He doesn’t need his Martial Instinct divine ability to warn him not to get close. Unfortunately, it is too late for him to avoid it now that he is weak and Silver Mirror is so close.
Clark could only summon more phantom weapons to attack Silver Mirror while he struggled to stay on his feet. Silver Mirror didn’t bother to dodge the phantom weapons because they were too fast.
The phantom weapons flew through the air as if they were weightless. But they struck with the force of a hammer. The best that Silver Mirror could do was to phase shift his body and let the phantom weapons pass through him while he narrowed the distance between them.
One epic being was attacking while the other was defending. Both were using their expensive rank 4 divine abilities. The first one to run out of spiritual energy would lose. So this turned into a fight of endurance.
This endurance test didn’t last long at all because rank 4 divine abilities were expensive to use. In 11 seconds, the loser was determined.
Clark was the loser. He was the loser not only because the explosion he created with his phantom weapons was expensive spiritually, but also because he didn’t fight smartly.
His martial instincts warned him to keep his distance. The smart thing he should have done was to run away from Silver Mirror. But he didn’t do that.
Clark stood his ground instead of running. He did so to protect the lamp bearers with him.
As far as heroic actions went, that was top-notch. But as far as protecting his life went, his actions of standing his ground were mediocre.
He stood his ground, so he had to go all out and make that explosion happen in order to stop Silver Mirror from approaching. Unfortunately, it didn’t work.
Instead of stopping Silver Mirror, he wasted his spiritual energy. That was when his loss became certain.
Now he couldn’t do anything but watch Silver Mirror approach him carefully. He was struggling to stand while Silver Mirror walked proudly to him.
Silver Mirror said to him, “You should have run.”
Clark wheezed as he exhaled and coughed up blood from his lungs. But he still managed to say, “I know.”
Silver Mirror shook his head and said, “You don’t know.”
Then he pointed to himself and said, “I know. That day that you lamp bearers raided my sister’s and my black market, I ran away for my life. I didn’t stay to save my sister.”
