Chapter 1045: 1045 Off World Mediation

“What did you do that stopped our attacks? What sort of cursed ambush magic is that?” The leader of the attackers asked.

“It is called [Kind Intentions], and as you can see, it doesn’t stop you from being rude, only from trying to kill each other. Now, I don’t mind if you sit in on the meeting, but the residents of this tower have been recommended to me as prime candidates for removal from this planet to come work as Mage instructors for the children of mine.” Wolfe explained.

“You would take rebel partisans as teachers? Don’t make me laugh. They aren’t suitable for any such task.” The soldier informed him.

“Look, you’re from the Fallen Armies, right? If we really need, I can call King Petros himself here, and I can guarantee that he will let me take the mages.” Wolfe replied.

The soldier looked shocked. “Who do you think that you are to speak so freely of our Risen King?”

Wolfe sighed and started over. “I am Saint Wolfe Noxus, of Forest Grove. The Fallen Empire has a signed and recently refreshed agreement with my people, and it includes permission to run an Academy for Mages.

After a recent incident where the city elevated fifteen Saints in the same day, We have found that we are in dire need of additional instructors, and as this world is still officially in resistance to the Fallen Empire and not fully integrated, our agreement allows me to take employees from this place, should they be willing.”

The soldier glared at the mages inside the tower for a moment. “You don’t understand, these rebel partisans know no shame. They have been teaching the secrets of magic to slaves and servants.”

Wolfe smiled. “Ooh, slave girls? Like with the collar and the restraints? I know a couple of Succubi who are into that sort of thing.”

He could see the moment that everyone’s brain short-circuited.

“What? NO! Beastkin slaves, what the hell is wrong with you? Who would have sex with a slave?” One of the men inside shouted.

“You’re asking what’s wrong with me for knowing that Succubi are kinky like that, and you keep Beastkin as actual slaves? Now, I don’t mind what you have been doing here, but if you agree to come to Forest Grove, there are no slaves, everyone in the city is a free person.”

There was a pause, and Wolfe could see the mage behind him, back in his world, covering her face in secondhand embarrassment as they were taunted by a mischievous Magi.

But it was the right thing to say to the mages inside the tower. They had been protecting the slaves by teaching them magic, and giving them a chance to live a decent life as a free person once they were released with a new identity.

The leader of the Fallen attack force looked back and forth between Wolfe and the man at the window of the tower.

“I give you my word that if you want to leave this world, I won’t try to stop you.” He spat in disgust.

The faster that he could get every single one of these people somewhere else, the better.

Wolfe gestured for the mage behind him to come out, and a very shocked old woman opened the door, before pulling her into a hug.

“You’re still alive! We heard that your tower was found abandoned, and we feared the worst. What are you doing here with the mad Saint?” The old woman demanded.

“I’m actually one of the teachers at his Academy. I took the offer when he came to our tower, offering us a safe way out. Would you like to join us? We have countless new students to teach.

As Saint Noxus said, we had an incident where fifteen Saints were elevated at the same time, and the mana overflow caused a hug number of latent magic users to awaken. We need more talented people to help them learn the basics before they hurt anyone, and then we will need even more for next semester at the Academy, when more students arrive from around the allied worlds.

It’s a bit of a long story, but King Petros is sending us servants to train as mages, to become more useful servants, and then there are all the humans in that world, who are just learning to become mages.

It’s a total gong show, and we don’t have nearly enough teachers.”

Something seemed to break in the old woman, and all resistance to the idea was gone.

“Let’s pack. We can’t do any more good by staying here. Even if we win the battle, it will never be safe to take in refugees here again. It’s time to leave.” She told her companions.

The Fallen Army’s Commander stared at Wolfe.

“Just like that? Is it really so easy to get them to give up their resistance to the change of government in their world?” He muttered.

“That depends on who you ask. Some are just loyalists, some are idealists. The idealists will leave if they find out that there is a good opportunity to continue their works elsewhere.

But I think that there might be some considerable changes by the time that you get home again. King Petros is a much different man than his predecessor, and part of his initiative is to introduce magic using servants to the Noble Houses.”

The soldier shrugged. “My father is a Duke, we already have lesser Nobles working as staff at the house.”

Wolfe chuckled. “Not like this. Imagine, kitchen staff could use magic to improve your meals. If the maids could clean the entire house every day because they could use air magic to sweep even the most inaccessible corners. If your cowboys and shepherds didn’t have to waste time foraging for firewood because they could use fire magic and magical charms.”

“And why would they continue to work as servants when they had magic? They would be Barons, and entitled to start their own households.” The soldier replied.

“Even if they were beastkin?” Wolfe replied.

“You’ve got to be kidding me.”

Wolfe shook his head. “Not even a little bit. That’s the new King’s plan. To create an elite cadre of commoners, ones who can demand prime rates for their services. But there will be changes to the Noble Houses as well. Soon, Rank One may not get you a title by default anymore, only the right to earn one from the King. But that’s not official, so don’t go spreading it around.”
