Chapter 1044: 1044 Helping Hands
Wolfe wasn’t the only one that had noticed the immediate and looming issues in the city, and many of the others had solutions that they were looking for Wolfe to solve.
The mages, in particular, saw this as a huge opportunity for them. They had come to Forest Grove in the hopes that it was safer for them than the politically charged atmosphere at home, but they had settled in quickly, and the people of Forest Grove made them feel like friends.
That didn’t change the fact that they were still one of the smallest factions, even with the influx of students to the Academy.
Having all these new potential students, and casual magic users, available to them seemed like the perfect opportunity to bring more of their allies here.
There were two more empty towers in the outer city, lots of room for new mages.
As such, they had sent their most persuasive, also known as their youngest female, member to go talk to him.
Of course, she was still older than Wolfe’s parents would have been, but it was their best shot, the old mages thought. She was the persuasive one among them, and their plan was a simple one.
There was another Mage Clan that was allied with theirs and in a similarly precarious position due to their vocal desire to avoid becoming part of the Fallen Empire during the invasion.
Wolfe wasn’t hard to find, he was talking to citizens next to the stage when she arrived from the tower, panting for breath after jogging so far in search of him.
They had come to a hasty decision when they realized what was going on, and there was no time like the present to put into action, before Wolfe made plans of his own to deal with the situation.
“Saint Noxus. Do you have a moment?” She asked from ten metres away, shouting to get his attention before he disappeared into the crowd again.
“Of course, Professor. What can I do for you? I believe that we have a lot to discuss today.” Wolfe replied, using air magic to let his voice carry so he didn’t have to shout.
The professor stopped next to him, holding up a hand for patience as she caught her breath.
“We have a plan to help with the influx of new magic users. There is another tower full of mages who, we believe, are willing to permanently relocate here from our home world.” She began.
“Have you been in contact with them yet? Because we’re going to need to start the training very soon to prevent catastrophe among those who have no idea how to control their powers. They were all forcibly awakened, and there have already been incidents of accidental magical activations.” Wolfe replied.
The Professor nodded. “We were in contact with them before we left, but we left in a hurry. As long as nothing has changed in their situation, they should be as willing to accompany you as we were, but with more warning, as we informed them that we were leaving.”
“Are you the contact between your group and theirs?” Wolfe asked.
If he could steal them away in the next hour, they could make a grand arrival by going through the city to help the people who had just awakened. It would build goodwill and make them familiar faces to everyone.
She nodded. “Yes, I am familiar with most of their people. We fought together when there was still a chance of victory. Is there an interplanetary portal array here? I can talk to them now if I can get there.”
Wolfe laughed and patted her shoulder. “I do it a bit differently. Let’s use the stage. I will activate the spell, and you guide it to the target because I don’t know where they live.”
The Professor was a bit confused as to why there was an array under the stage, but as Wolfe began to cast the spell, she realized that he didn’t need it. He had the individual power to just open a portal to her world, and the only issue was that he didn’t have a map.
The portal began to take form before she could even mentally prepare herself, with the array simply appearing in the air, with none of the supporting arrays, focusing devices or mana batteries needed.
It was so unlike what she had seen before that it took her a second to realize that it was her turn, and she had to add the directions to the spell before the portal could open at its target.
Once she had recovered, she opened the portal, and Wolfe brought up a barrier as an explosion blasted through the opening.
“Well, that’s quite the welcome.” Wolfe laughed as he stepped through to see what was going on.
The tower was under attack, and hundreds of mages were tossing spells at the barrier protecting the building, which was less of a tower, and more of a square stone keep.
“Good afternoon. I am Saint Wolfe Noxus of Forest Grove, and I am here to speak to your leadership about a relocation opportunity to my city.” Wolfe announced, still standing in the bombardment outside the barrier.
“Are you insane, man? We’re under attack, you’re going to get yourself killed.” Someone from inside shouted at him.
“Don’t be ridiculous. Nothing here will kill me. Do you have a moment to speak? I can hold the barrier for the time being.” Wolfe offered.
The Mages behind the broken windows of the keep looked skeptical, but when Wolfe cast [Kind Intentions] over the whole area and then put a new layer of barrier over the keep, they simply stared at him in shock.
Wolfe turned to the attackers, who were headed his way with swords and staves in hand.
“Gentlemen. If you will excuse my intrusion on your little battle for a moment, I am here to recruit teachers for an off world employment opportunity, never to return to this world.” He announced.
The attackers paused, confused.
A strange Saint wanted to take the rebels off world permanently? To have them become teachers? That made no sense at all, but he seemed so confident in his declaration.
