Chapter 1068: 1068 Getting Wet

“Are you sure it’s safe to send nude Elven servants to Saint Noxus’ quarters?” Nola, the Nymph from the new Pentacle, asked as the last of the Royals left.

“He’s hardly ever in the quarters, and never alone when he is there. The real threat is throwing a cute naked Elf at one of the Succubi who might be lounging around the suites in their spare time.” Ella laughed.

Lucy, the lone ginger among the new human Pentacle members, gave a mock frightened gasp.

“True horror. The last time I came in unannounced, Rail and Nimue braided my hair for over an hour.”

Princess Dana, King Leandro’s daughter, laughed. “Nimue is scarier than any of us. She’s got both Dryad curiosity and Wrath Demon persistence. If she says you’re getting your hair braided today, then it’s going to happen.”

The tiny hybrid was now also a Saint, so most members of both the Fae and Demon species would instinctively want to please her due to the ranking her power granted.

“Are you leaving right away, Saint Noxus?” Lucy asked.

Wolfe nodded. “Yeah, I should get going as well. I don’t know how long it will take to complete the cleanup, but once the cleansing spell is in place, it should begin to sort itself out fairly quickly.”

Overlord Cassanova stood up a bit taller. “I think this is my time to shine. I have Water Fae waiting at one of my port cities to take you there. They will explain the issues on the way.”

Wolfe nodded to the others and followed Cassanova through the portal back to the Western Continent, which was actually Southwest of them and straight south of the Mist Continent.

It deposited them in a small fishing village that looked like it had been rapidly expanded with new farms and a handful of fish packing plants that still smelled of fresh paint and fish guts to Wolfe.

“The representative of the Water Fae is waiting for us at the docks. There is a building there that serves as our meeting area, as it has a room with an open floor, so they can remain in the water during the meeting.” Cassanova explained.

Wolfe wrapped an arm around the Incubus’ waist and flew them over to where he could sense the handful of powerful Fae waiting.

They weren’t in the building, but underwater near it. They had certainly sensed him coming, even if they hadn’t noticed Cassanova.

So, Wolfe just landed in the meeting room and waited.

“Shouldn’t we send out a message of some sort?” Cassanova asked.

“They know I’m here, and they’re preparing for the meeting. We didn’t give them any advance warning, so give them a few minutes to prepare.” Wolfe replied, shaking his head.

There was no need to inform them of what they already knew.

After ten minutes, a Rank Six Selkie came to the surface, changing from a seal to a human woman with a long seal skin cloak on.

“Saint Noxus, it is a pleasure to make your Acquaintance.” She announced in a gently musical voice, almost hypnotic, like a Siren’s call.

“Lady Selkie, it is a pleasure to meet you as well. I believe you have information for me about the state of the sunken continent, and what I can do to get the problems around it sorted.

I already know the history behind it, and that it was intended as a war memorial for seven hundred million innocents killed at the start of the Great War.” Wolfe replied.

“Well, that saves a lot of time. We thought that we would have to try to explain the actions of the land dwellers before you would understand.” She replied.

“I wouldn’t bother. I know what happened, or at least the important parts, and I still don’t understand what they were thinking. But that no longer matters. What matters is that we can clean up the curses over the War Memorial so it doesn’t continue to corrupt the ocean.”

The Selkie slapped the water with her foot, and a pair of mermaid males came to the surface, just raising their upper bodies out of the water instead of coming onto the platform.

“Esteemed Patriarch. We have been assigned by the Queen of the Ocean to escort you to your Family home. The spells over the manor are intact, so if you can enter, you may move about freely during your time on the continent.

It is the sincere wish of our Queen that you can solve the corruption coming from the continent’s undead. The spirits of the dead are restless, and they remain unable to reach the Underworld for release.” The man to Wolfe’s right announced.

Their upper bodies were covered in mystic tattoos. Not an array, but a single multipurpose spell that covered their entire upper body in runes. It was fascinating magic, but Fae magic that Wolfe didn’t think he could manage to activate, even if he could read the runes.

The silent merman on the other side cast a spell over Wolfe, and the Selkie smiled at him. “Please, join us in the water. We have granted you protection from the water’s pressure as well as the ability to breathe.”

Wolfe nodded to Cassanova. “I will see you when I get back.”

Then he stepped into the water and altered his armour spell to give him larger fins on his feet and hands to move smoothly through the water without additional movement spells.

“You are a versatile one, Saint Noxus. The Elders thought that we would have to pull you, or show you the trick to using movement spells in the water.” The Selkie’s voice sounded in Wolfe’s mind as she shifted back into a seal.

Wolfe focused on his Inheritance until he found a useful spell for this situation. [Sonar] was a Gravity Magic spell that vibrated the water to allow you to communicate in the same way as whales and other underwater mammals.

[Now, which way are we going? It might take me a moment to get used to swimming in something larger than a pool.]
