Chapter 1082: 1082 How Wolfe Does It

Vladimir nodded at Wolfe. “Normally, there are others around to keep the damage from spreading, but I am not certain how many on the surface could survive that level of energy.”

“Oh, I didn’t explain about the Guardians, did I? The world was getting a bit too low on power level, so the old spells around it were beginning to collapse, and we were no longer isolated from the rest of the universe.

In response, I brought in a number of Fae and Demon Saints, as well as hundreds more at Rank Four and Five, and spread them around the world. They are serving as either advisors or Governors of their regions, and there are five Rank Eight members, plus the fifteen current Saints in my Pentacles.

I can also request a visit from the Demon and Fae Kings to keep things under control if I need.”

Vlad looked impressed. “I must say, that for a man who didn’t grow up with a lineage of Kings to guide him, you have done a wonderful job of building alliances. How are these Guardians of yours doing with the leadership of the world? Are things improving, or are they going down the path of the humans again?”

“Well, we’ve outlawed slavery, which is a good start. But we’re still working on getting everyone converted over to magical replacements for the human technology. They’re low on resources, so the magical replacements are taking the place of conventional as things break, but it could take another decade or two before we get it finished.” Wolfe explained.

Vladimir shrugged. “That’s not so long, really. Have you considered having them compete?”

Wolfe laughed. “No need to encourage them. With both Fae and Demons around, they do it on their own. They are competitive between their own kind, but they hate losing to each other, so every monthly meeting becomes an update on their progress.”

The ancient vampire nodded in understanding. The Fae and Demons had always been like that. Even when they were not at war with each other, they had a strong rivalry going that would force them to compete over everything so that the other couldn’t claim that they were better at anything outside their own magical specialty.

“Alright, that should be sufficient. In all honesty, your fifteen Saints should be more than enough, but your breakthrough is going to do some things to your Pentacles as well.

They’re normally formed after you become a King to avoid such issues, but a bit of your energy will bleed through to them, so there may be changes to all of them who aren’t Magi.

How many of them are Magi, by the way?”

Wolfe frowned. “That would be approximately zero. Unless one of the humans has a hidden Magi bloodline, the Pentacles are all Witches, Demons, Fae and humans. Two Pentacles of Witches, and one each for the other species.”

The vampire cleared his throat. “Well, I must say that you have interesting tastes. I would imagine that the distribution was somewhat political, but you do understand that the bond with the advisors of your Pentacles is a rather intimate one, and as it grows, they will share emotions and thoughts with you, right?”

Wolfe smiled. “That can be both quite interesting and rather troublesome. The Witches have been working to block some of the information that is shared through the link, but we don’t really have secrets anymore. Once you do something, someone else will have noticed.”

“You seem to have accepted that a harem is in your future.” Vlad laughed.

“In my past as well. But did you know that you can help witches awaken and advance their powers if you massage their mana system with a gentle flow of power? I didn’t see that referred to in any of the power building reference texts.” Wolfe asked.

“Check the erotica section. You are definitely your father’s son, starting from the lewd applications of magic without even understanding the basics.”

“I will take that as a compliment. But in a world where the Bloodline Curse had stunted the few remaining decent magic users, it was the most valuable skill I had before I advanced out of the First Rank.” Wolfe explained.

“And you were doing that at the First Rank? Not even a hundred years old, and already a lecher.” Vlad sighed.

“If you’re going to ask where we went wrong, that’s a whole other story, and the answer starts with me being mostly raised by a criminal organization.”

Vlad cast another array of spells and inspected Wolfe, focusing on the Pentacle bonds.

“I see four Witches with enough Magi blood that we can awaken the sons. That is a good start. At least you will have an actual Magi heir to the Family without needing to take any more consorts.”

Wolfe smiled. “Well, I could also use the services of a Succubus. I hear that their daughters are all Succubi, but the sons take on the species of the father. I don’t know if that works when the father isn’t another Demon, but it might be possible.”

Vlad tapped a crystal, and a reference page came up in the air. “Yes, that is correct. If you have children with a Succubus, the sons should be born as Magi, but the daughters will likely be born with exceptional gifts for a Succubus, as our Magic is a more dominant gene than theirs.”

“That explains why the Incubus King was so eager to get his daughter to come stay with us in Forest Grove. She’s not part of the Pentacles because apparently a Succubus doesn’t gain power that way, but I’m still helping her and one other Succubus advance.” Wolfe explained.

Vlad sighed and looked at the crystals in the library. “We’re going to need a whole new section for your reign as Patriarch. We can entitle it [I can’t believe he did that], and file it under both erotica and comedy.”

“I was thinking we could call it the Unity Era. Rebuilding the Magi Species through hard work and dedication.”

The vampire froze, unable to process that level of outright nonsense without advance warning.

“I will work on the title. You work on not making it embarrassing for future generations to read.”
