Chapter 1083: 1083 Researched

Wolfe settled back into his chair after a quick meal and immersed himself in the study of all of the things that might go wrong with an improperly attuned advancement, as well as the side effects of having his Pentacles formed before he became a King.

The first list was exhaustive, with tens of thousands of examples through history, but the second was actually quite simple.

The advancement would have the same effect that the Witches’ Saint Rank advancement had upon the Pentacles, only stronger with more mana flowing, and it would all be tinged with Wolfe’s own particular mana signature.

Normally, that would make it hard for the Pentacles to absorb, and it could cause some aura damage, or even physical damage due to incompatibility after the Kings had adjusted themselves to better match the world.

However, Wolfe had already learned how to attune that mana to the Pentacles, so they could absorb it more smoothly.

That wasn’t a technique that most Magi would have known, as it was an advanced application of what they considered a kinky bedroom technique, but Wolfe did find one other vague reference to it, as if the author was afraid to outright say it in writing.

That gave Wolfe confidence that he was on the right path, but it also meant that he needed a proper space to do this advancement. He couldn’t just be flooding an entire city with mana like that again, they had already caused chaos in Forest Grove.

But it was tempting to go back to Morgana or Sylvan Coven and do it on the roof, to flood an entire fortress city with power and see who emerged.

There might be many other latent Magi in Morgana Fortress, but Wolfe could create tens of millions more strong Witches if he did it over Sylvan Coven, which had only taken in Witches after the war.

“You seem deep in thought. Is it something I can assist with?” Vladimir asked.

“I was wondering where the best place to advance to King Rank would be. I want to limit collateral damage, and there was already a minor incident in Forest Grove when the fifteen Witches and Demons advanced to Saint Rank at the same time.

It awakened latent magic in numerous people who never expected to have magic, and therefore had absolutely zero training. That included bog stock humans, though we do have teachers for them already.”

Vladimir nodded. “It is good to know that the technique was not lost. It was originally developed by the Typhus Family to save humans who developed magic on their own so that their powers didn’t overtake them or cause collateral damage.

I can’t say that I know of an instance where they were mass awakened, and the technique was rather obscure, so I’m a bit startled that it survived.”

Wolfe shook his head. “Actually, we regained it from humans on another world. Now, we’re having them train promising humans in magic so that they don’t feel excluded from the magical technology revolution.

With their own magic users, they can run their own factories, make their own goods, and blend in with the other species. It has been motivational during difficulties in the transition.”

The vampire made a note of the details, and then a few more notes, as if to remind himself of something that he wanted to do.

“Are there any of these human mages in your hometown?” He asked.

“That’s where the majority of them are. We have large magical Academies for Witch Magic, Elemental Magic, and the specialty techniques used by humans to cast Elemental Magic.” Wolfe explained.

“So, you’ve made your city a training Academy. That is a wonderful way to build a sense of community and loyalty to the Family. Everyone remembers where they were trained, even I do. I went to the Chronos Family home for my basic training after I did my first two years of orientation here in this very house.

It was a tradition at the time, so that styles weren’t lost, and knowledge was spread around the world.” Vladimir explained.

“That’s actually a brilliant idea. We were just about to start sending out primary teachers to the smaller villages, so children didn’t have to travel. But having our own people travel around for advanced training would be a great idea and expose them to all the cultural differences and new ideas that the world has to offer.” Wolfe agreed.

Vlad nodded. “But that still doesn’t answer your first question. The best spot to do the advancement is on the Podium of the Gods. It’s a spot deep in the central mountains of your home continent. Does it still exist?”

Wolfe gave a noncommittal gesture. “Possibly. That is where they cast the final spells of the war, and the humans dropped a ridiculous number of nuclear bombs on it, so it may or may not still be intact.”

The ancient Vampire sighed, and the light of his red eyes dimmed. “You know, all this time, I was hoping that things had somewhat worked out up there. I knew why this continent was sunk, and I couldn’t leave anyhow, unless I was going to use a spell to hide myself in shadows all day, or live in the basement.

But up there, you know, I had hoped that they had managed to come to some agreement.”

Wolfe nodded in agreement. “That would have been for the best, but in the end, everything was destroyed, and most of the world still didn’t learn from their mistakes.

They even managed to destroy so much recorded history that I didn’t know the Magi were pacifists until I started reading recovered relic crystals. By their revised version, the Magi were the ones who started the war with aggressive acts against the humans and Witches and a betrayal of the people.”

Vlad rolled his eyes. “Of course, that is how they would tell it. But at least a few managed to survive this long, even if the lineages are no longer clear. One of the visitors while you were out was the Loyal Saint, and he dropped off more spells for you to take up with you. He’s quite excited to have the chance to pass on knowledge again.”

“I will bring up anything you like as well. I think that it’s almost time that I went to look for the scene of the last battle.”
