Chapter 1104: 1104 It Needs Something

Once the walls, towers and central spire were up, Wolfe looked up at the mountaintop and sighed.

“It needs something. It’s so plain, with just the spire and the wall.” He told the others.

“Well, once we make the roadway up the mountain, it should look a bit less lost. Why don’t we try that next?” Cassie suggested.

A few minutes of Earth Magic made a winding road up the side of the mountain, and now the castle at least looked like it belonged up there, but Wolfe was right. It was just a simple design perched atop a mountain.

After a few minutes, even Risa agreed.

“You’re right, it needs some bling.”

“Do we have an artist in the group?” Wolfe asked.

Lucy raised her hand. “I used to make wooden carvings for gifts. I have a fairly good eye for art, even if my skills with my hands weren’t amazing.”

“Then you’re up. First, we need something bold that stands out, and then some decorations on the wall and towers. We will add an outer layer to the spire after this, something catchy.”

Lucy nodded, and began making doodles in a notebook quickly, while Risa snapped her fingers and pointed to the wall.

“Terracotta Army. We can make an army of stone Golems set into alcoves around the wall. If we just use Earth Magic to make a decorative outer layer over the functional wall, we can add all sorts of art without compromising the functionality.”

Lucy giggled. “I know just the thing. Give me a minute and I will have the drawing done. I’m not good with Earth Magic, though. So someone else can make it.”

She made her quick sketch and handed it to Cassie, who began to laugh.

“Oh, I like this idea. It is very Wolfe, and very suitable for the castle.”

She began to work, pulling extra magic from Wolfe as she did.

Risa turned him away from the Castle, so Wolfe made a point of not watching what was going on with his Mana Sense.

Instead, he watched the other team making an idyllic village of adobe houses with clay roof tiles all along the slope, while frames for the vineyards were built between them.

That would actually be the back side of the houses, as the main entrance was inside the mountain, along with the homes that didn’t have an outside view and the workshops.

It was quite the scene, giving a sense of age and simplicity, despite the magical construction, and the layers of complex spells that were placed on everything.

A few minutes after she started, Cassie turned Wolfe around.

The main entrance of the castle was on the south side, and large statues of Cassie and Ella stood on either side of the road just before it reached the upper platform. Then, all along the walls, larger than life statues of the rest of the Pentacle members lined the walls, made of various colours of stone, with gems in the eyes that would glitter in the sunlight at various hours of the day.

Wolfe’s statue stood as tall as the walls right outside the door, and a ring of carved designs lined the top of the wall above the statue alcoves.

It was beautiful, and with the coloured stone and detailed work, you could see who all of the carvings were supposed to be, even from down here in the valley, hundreds of metres away.

Of course, half of them were out of sight, but if you approached from the other side, as many of the visiting human nations would as they flew in, you would see the rest.

Lucy smiled up at Cassie’s rendition of her idea.

“The idea is that they can build upon this. The King’s statue is on the right side of the door as you enter, but the next King can go on the other side, and his first two wives can guard the entrance, one step down from Cassie and Ella.

If they’re really Kings, they can change out the statues of the Pentacles as well, but it would be nice if they left the first team there. Now, nobody can accuse our castle of being plain or boring, and if we fully enchant the statues, we can make them living stone to become Golems for defence.” She explained.

“That’s not a bad idea. Alright, the wall is pretty now. Let’s move on to the interior of the tower, and the other buildings in the courtyard. Then we can move on to the underground construction.”

Nola grabbed his robes. “We can make an underground forest with a fake sky, right? I know the Fae will love it. Like a park or something to play in without having to go outside.”

“We can do that. There is no reason that we can’t make an underground forest, when we’ve already made underground gardens and everything else. We even made an underground community that mimics an above ground one, with freestanding houses. There isn’t much that we can’t do if we have the space.” Cassie agreed.

“Wonderful. Now, we should begin designing the layout. It is going to take plenty of levels to get enough space for everyone.” Nola insisted.

“There are fewer than thirty people actually living in this mountain.” Wolfe reminded them.

“That’s to start with. We’ve already got at least two children on the way, and they will need space as they grow, and then there will be all the other children, and likely their children as well.” The Nymph insisted.

“Right, future proofing. I recall that there was a very distinct unwritten promise that while you looked after us as advisors, we wouldn’t be missing out on the basics of life.” Jessica giggled.

Wolfe turned to Cassie. “See what you started? You look so lovely while pregnant that you’ve started baby fever across at least three races.”

Cassie blushed, and Nola smirked. “She is adorable like that. To think, Witches are more emotional when pregnant. Is that normal?”

Wolfe nodded. “Very normal. You must be careful not to insult a pregnant Witch, and if you do, you must bring peace offerings at the soonest opportunity, before they curse you.”
